 + 0 moreCarpet and installation is great. Hardwood installation and blend in was good and you could not tell where the new wood was put in. For the finishing, instead of staining the wood and then putting clear poly, they put down poly with stain mixed in to match the color. I guess that is cheaper and quicker although I am not entirely sure of the reason. However the color is not as even as the other method and, if you scratch the surface, the unstained white wood shows through. I will not buy furniture finished this way for the same reason.
Description of Work: Replace carpet with hardwood and blend in 3 rooms. Re carpet 2 rooms.

 + -1 moreThis was a big project, basically needed to re-do flooring in most of our 2000 sq home. We had gotten a few estimates, but did not have a comfort level with anyone we had dealt with. We met Josh at Home and Garden show, and were immediately impressed with his professionalism and level of experience. He spent a lot of time with us in the showroom to assure that we got the most for our money. Prices were very competitive. The installation crew was equally wonderful. They actually started a day early and finished early as well. Good luck finding that these days. The workers took great care of our furniture and left the house spotless. Anyway, FloorGurus are highly recommended. They make a big project painless!

 + -1 moreThree people came to complete the project, they were like worker bees, each one of them handling different parts of the project. They were polite, and very efficient in completing the installation of the remaining hardwood flooring. It looks great and after some painting and empting two bedrooms, we'll be contacting Josh for carpeting of these two bedrooms that are full of furniture at the current time.
Description of Work: Complete a hardwood flooring project that my family was doing on our own. It had been taking us a good amount of time, but we had gotten to completing the hallway and the master bedroom and all closets connect to the hardwood flooring. Due to a bad year health wise for me starting late last year, we'd postponed completing the flooring project. A couple months back I told my wife that I wasn't getting well enough to complete the project and I felt we needed to get someone in to finish. Called Josh at FloorGurus and got a price and scheduled the date.

 + 1 moreOwner stayed with his crew the entire time and worked with them. All was done well and professionally. They were careful in moving and replacing furniture, and vacuumed afterwards. Estimate was exact and they finished in the time stated. The carpeting looks very good and I'm pleased with the quality.

 + 1 moreHe's on Angie's List. They did an excellent job. They ran into some moisture problems and fixed my floor joist in those areas. They know a lot of the contractors. He said it would take two to three days and he was on time with that. The flooring went exactly as he said it would. He was well equipped to handle the problems that he ran into. He did an excellent job on the ceramic tile.
Description of Work: FloorGurus.com laid 1500 square feet of laminate and did some bathroom tile work.

They were not only the lowest bid, they did not sell me a product that I didn't need. Josh brought samples to the house so we didn't have to go to a store to look at products. The only other thing is that there was not a lot to choose from. Fortunately he had exactly what we wanted.
Description of Work: All new flooring on the first floor of our house. 6 total rooms approx. 1700ft. Laminate and vinyl. Job was completed in two days.

 + 1 moreThe job was rather complex and we felt kind of like nomads. One point for anyone considering re-flooring is to get boxes and move as much personal stuff out of your house prior to the start of the project. Otherwise, this job went very well.
Description of Work: We replaced 22 year-old carpeting in our single-story slab house with a wonderful vinyl plank product. We have two dogs and the criteria in picking this floor was durability in all conditions and ease of maintenance. This stuff looks like real wood, without all the hassles. Patrick and his crew moved A LOT of furniture, tore out ALL the existing flooring and installed the new product within four days.

 + 2 moreOur initial reason for contacting FloorGuru's was to refinish and stain our first floor hardwoods. We shopped around for pricing and FloorGuru was by far the cheapest offered. Although skeptical about the pricing and if this meant a compromise of service we selected them for the work. We could not be happier. The quality was top notch, service was great and communication was never an issue. All of this was important to us because we did the majority of our business from another state, traveling to and from our home in SC to check on work and progress. We would highly recommend Josh/FloorGuru's based on our experience. The work was timely, Josh has many business connections that led to other work being done in our home at time of service, price was very reasonable and communication was top notch. We will be using this business again in the future.

 + -1 moreThe work that FloorGurus did for us went great! They did exactly what they said they would do, and they did it in a timely fashion. They came to our house good and early, worked hard, took a brief break to eat, and went right back to work. The installers they brought in knew what they were doing and came to work and get the job done! I could not be more pleased with FloorGurus and the quality of their workmanship. We only wish we had known about them to begin with! Maybe our house would be complete by now. Instead, a project that was started on April 22, 2013, remains incomplete and our home in disarray and our nerves frazzled. If you are looking for a reputable company with reliable folks who keep their word, then look no further than FloorGurus. They'll do right by you!
Description of Work: The provider was brought in by a so-called contractor we had been working with for over a year on a two-month-long project! The provider came in and immediately got to work on laying #1 hardwood flooring in our upstairs hallway. He was also supposed to sand and stain the hardwood flooring that had previously been laid by our original "contractor's" substandard crew. Once my husband and I saw the flooring that had been laid upstairs by FloorGurus, we knew something was wrong with the hardwood flooring on our first floor. There were gaps throughout the flooring, which covered our dining room, foyer, office, and great room. The guys from FloorGurus refused to sand and stain these floors, because they were improperly laid. Because of their ethics and morals, they told the "contractor" who hired them that they would not do any additional work on the already-laid floors unless they were allowed to take up the flooring and lay it properly. When FloorGurus got in and took up the flooring, they discovered that our floors had not been properly prepped with the right black paper, had been laid with finishing nails rather than the proper nails, and whole sections of the flooring were missing any nails at all!!! They got in and took up the flooring, re-laid it properly, and even purchased additional hardwood flooring to make up for what was lost when the floors had to be taken up! Patrick and his crew were conscientious, God-fearing, hardworking, timely, and all-around good guys who came into an already stressful and difficult situation and tried to make things go better for our family.

 + -1 moreThe first day of install was a whirlwind of activity as the guys from Floor Gurus knocked out the family room, hallway, and part of the living and dining rooms. The job was completed on time and as promised. My floors look great and I couldn't be happier with the work. I will recommend Floor Gurus to my friends and family. I would use them again in the future.

Description of Work: Had approx. 1400 square feet of 12mm hardwood laminate installed. Installers found water leaks in both family bath and master bath and were well prepared to deal with it. (New ceramic tile in family bath and shower, beautiful job and lots of choices). Weak flooring and rotted wall from leaks were replaced by sistering in new floor joists and replacing studs in wall all done for cheaper price than any of the other contractors I contacted.

 + -1 moreHaving pulled up the carpet on the entire first floor of the older home we just bought, we found the floor had a huge slope. The first floor guy to come out said it was so complicated, he would suggest going back to carpet and he didn't want to take on the job. We contacted Home Depot, and after much hanging on and waiting, got a ballpark quote. I signed up for Angie's list and found/called Josh Reid with The Floor Gurus. He came out and gave me an assessment. He immediately corrected the first guy and said the floor didn't have a slope or dip, it had a swell over the main joists, causing it to seem like a slope or dip near it. He said he could fix the issue, but wouldn't be able to make it perfect. I appreciated his honesty, and he gave me a quote that was substantially less than the Home Depot quote. I hired Floor Gurus. Josh and his team came out and once they pulled up the subfloor to 'shave down the swelled joist', they found another subfloor, which is done a lot in older houses. They came up with a new plan and two and half days later when I came to inspect the job done, I was astonished with how beautiful it was and how much they'd reduced the floor issue. It was corrected to the point that no one will ever know its there. The team were friendly and worked fast and hard. I had a lot of brand new items I'd bought and stashed in the closets, and though those closets were opened, my articles weren't touched, so shows they were very trustworthy. They cleaned all their mess, leaving my house meticulously clean. I would use Josh and his Floor Gurus again any day!

I received Josh's number from a friend of a friend and I contacted Josh Reid, from The Floor Gurus, for an estimate to install hardwood flooring in my two secondary bedrooms. I had existing hardwood in the rest of the house, so matching the color was an issue. Josh promptly got back to me, explained my options, showed samples which were in his truck and gave me an estimate. I would not hesitate to recommend this company!!
