My house did not have any Gable soffits. I searched and I asked around for referrals and every time I would come up empty handed. Then the bad news came, a referral. I received a quote and a start date. Four months went by and no contract, no progress. My roof already had expired and rot was ever so increasing by the minute every time it rained. The soffits needed to be added before the roofers came b/c the roof deck aids in soffit strength. If you could measure stress in hair loss I would have no hair. Finally at wits end I turned to Angie's list. Wow! suddenly a myriad of quality contractors are highlighted. I saw ABW Construction and I read not only the reviews but also the type of work Andrew had actually been doing. The best kind of resume their is. Like a vaccine does to an illness. I called Andrew. My soffits were done on time and more importantly done correctly. Andrew is fast, accurate, courteous, and a true professional. Their is no job to big or small that he cannot do. His skill set is second to none. If you have a project that needs done look no further. Don't wait for a buddy, a colleague, or a hopeful. Just call ABW Construction and don't look back. Hey a caveat since November I had my attic scuttle whole door nearly non existent. ( Loosing heat) Andrew squared the whole, replaced the door, trimmed it and insulated the door to a R-19. This was a last minute do you have time for.. See what I mean. Fit my problem into his schedule and the attic door was never this good since house was built..call Andrew and your house ailment will be gone.
Description of Work: Andrew built six inch gable soffits on the ends of my house, vinyl sided underneath, aluminum fascia cover and tied it into the existing roof by removing some roof decking and recovering the deck till roofer came to install entire roof.

I contacted Andrew Woodford after reading reviews on Angies List. He was prompt and provided a quote in a timely manner. Andrew was very flexible in scheduling the work to be complete. He showed up on time as promised. He completed the work in a quality manner and was meticulous about clean up. He followed up after the work was complete to make sure we were happy with the door installation and to make sure there were no problems. I would Andrew again and would recommend him to others. He did what he said he was going to do for a fair price on time. Very important traits in the construction industry.

The front of our home needed extensive remodeling and after reading the other reviews for ABW Construction, we contacted Andrew Woodford. Andrew completed the work on time and within budget and the quality of his work is excellent. He exhibits all of the qualities that a small business owner should possess, including a genuine desire to please his customers, an exceptional work ethic and a high quality product. My wife and I are extremely happy with the results and will use him again for any future work we might have done to our home. I highly recommend ABW Construction.
Description of Work: Installed an entry door and side lites, garage access door, removed and replaced damaged woodwork, installed new siding and designed and built a new portico for the front entrance.
Very well - very professional, on time, consulted a colleague to determine best way to repair problem, took 4 days
Description of Work: Evaluated our basement where we had water damage, then fixed the problem and repaired the damage. He uncovered additional issues in the process which he addressed.
Very good work. Used over period of 6 months on many projects. Hard worker, thought fair price. Very hard worker. Amazing what he can accomplish by himself.
Description of Work: Remodeled bathroom installing whirlpool tub, ceramic tile; built screen porch; installed laminate flooring; replaced rotten wood in several places; built arbor over deck; laid cobblestone walk; replaced some closet doors.
Andrew is punctual, polite and does really good work. His prices are fair and he gets the job done in a reasonable amount of time. He cleans up after himself too. We wouldn't hesitate to use him again or to recommend him to others. So glad we joined Angie's list and found him!
Description of Work: Andrew broke up a cement walkway that was heaved up by a large tree root, took the root out n re-poured the cement pad (on our walkway--it had become a trip hazard). He did an excellent job. Included in this price he also took out 2 rows of loose bricks on our front steps and re-mortared them. He replaced part of our deck (rails n "banisters" n planks n treads that were in bad condition). He fixed the parquet tile from our foyer that had warped n come off due to water damage. He replaced our old, chintzy front porch lantern w a beautiful fixture we'd bought and replaced, fixed three other fixtures in hallway n kitchen. He installed the correct size lock plate for out front door handle.

I called Andrew Woodford and he answered his own phone! He said he was in the area and could stop by between 5:00 and 5:30 to look at what we had, which he did. He looked at what needed to be done, said he could do the work, and even offered some other suggestions. He e-mailed me a very professional looking quote that same evening. The next morning (a Thursday) I told him we wanted him to do the work and when could he start. He said he could be here the following Monday morning at 8:00, and I said OK. He was here when he said, had all the tools and materials needed to do the work, and had all of the work completed within 4 hours. I found Andrew to be very professional and thorough. He explained everything that I inquired about during the jobs and cleaned up everything afterwards. I recommend Andrew whole heartedly, and if we ever have similar needs in the future, we know who to call.
Description of Work: We had a variety of things that needed to be done: drywall repair, replacing baseboard trim, caulking and sealing, painting, plumbing repair, replace a bottom door seal.

Best experience we have EVER had in 13 years living in this home. And with a family of 5 we have had many home repairs performed. Andrew is just amazing. Very professional and very skilled at his trade. He was always on time or either early. His work was perfect and we could not be happier with the results. We will never let anyone but Andrew work on our home again. Very honest and professional. Excellent communication on what work would be performed and when. Andrew was here every time he said he would be and his quality of work was even better than I anticipated.

Andrew is a young man that embraces the notion of professionalism and craftsmanship in a most serious way. He kept us constantly informed by e-mail and phone as to any any changes in timing, materials, etc. During the job, Andrew was extremely polite and attentive to various needs, as well as exceptionally neat and clean. Job pricing was eminently fair and competitive. All in all, it was a good experience and a pleasure to have met Andrew, a person with such a quality work ethic. We would highly recommend him and will definitely use him for future projects.
Description of Work: Installed a new front door, built "stoop" roof over the entryway, painted shutters and door, and installed gutters
My wife said it best. She told me that he was extremely polite, on time, and called with the times for the next day. She also told me "she had no problem with giving Andrew the key to the house and going shopping if she felt like it". After 42 years of marriage I have learned "If the wife is happy, so is the world". We had no problems and would highly recommend Andrew to anyone in the area. We have more projects for later, depending on budget, but will use Andrew.
Description of Work: Andrew removed the mildewed subfloor and joists, replaced them in one day. He sealed the top if the chimney and designed a better way to drain the roof over the back porch. He removed and fixed some rotted framing around the back doors, and will hang two new doors when we pick them out.

Andrew arrived when he said he would, was very professional, the dry wall job was professionally done and lights were installed without a hitch. We couldn't have asked for more. So much so, we asked him to come back to do more work. While he was here working, my parents stopped by and he will be doing some work for them. We highly recommend Andrew. Thanks Angie's List!

(Member name removed). I am not sure who you are I have never received a call or txt from you. Please call me at 864-351-8234. I would be very happy to speak with you and try to clear up and bad feelings. Thank you. Andrew Woodford
Andrew was terrific from the start. After taking his time to hear all of our concerns, he was quick to get us an estimate. We scheduled the work to be done. That's when we had two weeks of back to back storms. Andrew stayed in touch with us via the phone and was very honest about meeting his scheduled jobs in order. That was fine with us. Our projects were relatively small yet Andrew spent most of the day completing them all to our satisfaction. Unlike some others who rush off for the next "bigger" job, Andrew likes to give each customer his full attention. I am a stickler for "details" and was very confident with Andrew's problem solving skills. His professional experience showed in his work and methodology. Andrew came with all the equipment and supplies required for the job and left each site as clean as a pin. We would definitely use Andrew again and have already recommended him to neighbors. Nice to meet a true professional.
Description of Work: We had several small annoying projects which included, raising sunken paver walkways, realigning storm door, gutter repair, rotted door sill repair, and, assess and repair under deck drainage run off.
I was very pleased when I got home and looked at what he had done. The area was spotless. It was as if the aluminum columns had always been there. The area was neat and clean. No debris of any kind was left behind. I was fearful something might get damaged in the process of removing and installing columns. Nothing was damaged that I could see. The price was fair. He was on top of things. He was prompt and courteous. I would not hesitate to recommend ABW Construction to anyone. Next time I need something done I will be calling him first. Good job!
Description of Work: The project involved removing 6 wood columns and replacing them with aluminum columns. The existing wood columns were made up of decorative boards and molding on the outside and a 4X4 structural support on the inside. They were a constant pain to maintain. Every year it was the same. Rotting wood that needed to be patched or replaced. Caulking and painting over and over. Replacing the columns would have been tedious work. The porch had to be temporarily shored up at each column to remove and replace them one at a time. He dismantled and disposed of all the old wood.

Andrew arrived promptly, examined the posts and structure of the house to ensure that the posts were not needed for structural support and could be removed. After determining that the posts could be removed, Andrew provided us with a cost estimate and schedule for the posts removal. He removed the posts and repaired the drywall. Andrew was completely professional and extremely thorough. Whenever I need a handyman or a general contractor, I will call Andrew first!!

The original builder of my home had a poor stone subcontractor, or at least one that didn't do a good job flashing. Several homes in my neighborhood have similar issues. No flashing had been done in front of the stone at the roof line. Because of this, the water would run behind the stone. The home is about 7 years old, so over that period of time, it rotted a large section of the sheathing (outside wall) behind the stone. The damage behind the sheathing was minimal. About a half inch of the studs had damage and about 2 inches of the subfloor. I'll dedicate the rest of this review for Andrew specifically. I had never met, nor heard of Andrew prior to this work. I found him on Angie's List. Responsive: Andrew was by far the most responsive contractor I spoke to. He was always punctual and responded quickly to email and texts. Though this process took about 3 weeks (mostly due to having to special order stone), I never felt the need to contact him to ask for status updates. This was because he did such a good job of proactively keeping me in the loop. Fair: Andrew's prices were definitely fair. We had two times when we realized that the scope of work had become much larger, so had to re-negotiate. Andrew never used those moments to gouge the price. In fact, he agreed to an amount that I could tell he felt was too low for the amount of work he was having to do. He had been so fair to me up to that point, that I realized my blunder and offered more. A contractor that had been so fair to me, that I felt compelled to reciprocate? Yes. Honest: It's such a small thing, but sometimes they can be telling. When Andrew was removing the stone on my home, a few pieces caught the screen on my window and just slightly damaged it. I didn't actually think that he was responsible, since I have this sneaky bird that liked to tear my screens for nest material. I had given him an out, but he insisted that he knew it was his fault and replaced the screen. Not only that, but he also replaced the screen that my darned little bird had damaged for no extra cost. Cleanliness: Andrew kept the work area clean as he did his work. At the end of each stage, he cleaned up before proceeding. I never had a huge pile of debris and at the end of each day, it was completely clean. He removed his shoes each time he entered the house and we didn't and up with any dust or debris outside of the room that he was working on. Framing/Carpentry: Andrew's time working as a general contractor shows. He was smart in how he handled replacing the section of subfloor as well as reinforcing the studs. He replaced the wood that needed it and maintained the wood that was still in good shape. He even made note of a design flaw with the section of wall we exposed. There were no studs directly below a 2nd floor joist, so in addition to reinforcing the existing studs, he added a double stud below that joist. This wasn't something that was necessary for the repair, but he did it because it was the right way for it to have been done. At the end of the carpentry aspect, everything was square and flush. Masonry: I have little experience here, so can't comment on technique. Andrew had to cut out about 2 1/2 bricks vertically at the corner where they met the stone wall. He needed to be able to get to the studs for attaching the sheathing material. Because of this, he had to weave in new bricks and mortar to match my existing wall in addition to replacing all of the stone. My home has a dry stack manufactured stone that breaks when you remove it. It's lightweight and is not meant to be reused. Fortunately, I was the original owner and kept my documentation, so I had all of the names and colors of the stone/bricks. Andrew made sure to find the exact replacements for me to ensure it matched. He did a superb job of matching the sizes and flow of the existing stone front. He can't simulate 7 years of direct sunlight bleaching the stone, but otherwise it is perfect. In closing, I will use Andrew again if ever I need a general contractor. I will recommend Andrew highly to people that trust my opinion. You won't be disappointed.
Description of Work: A slow water leak due to poor flashing damaged a 4 by 12 foot section of an exterior wall. This wall was covered with stone and abutted a brick wall. The rot also affected some studs and a small portion of subfloor. Andrew removed and replaced all damaged material, located the source of the leak and permanently corrected it. This included adding new studs, replacing subfloor, removing/replacing bricks, replacing the sheathing and replacing the stone on the front of my house. My father owned a construction company, so I have had a lot of experience and typically do all of my own repairs. However, I didn't feel comfortable doing masonry work. Andrew not only did a great job on the masonry, he did as well or better than I could have in the other aspects as well. Anyone that knows me would confirm that this is a rare compliment.
