Had the pool tiles and interior finished replaced. Job went well and pool came out very nice. We used a Pebble Tec finish on the pool surface because of the great reviews on the product.

There is no doubt Aabstract Pools has a beautiful collection of photos on their website. We even visited three of their completed pools for ourselves and thought for sure after talking to a couple of the owners that we had made the right choice in pool builders. Below are just some highlights of the issues that we had and continue to have with Mr. Cribb and Aabstract Pools: Pre-construction: * Mr. Cribb made a cost calculation error in our original contract and requested we split the difference with him. * In order to save us money, Mr. Cribb elected not to run a soil test to determine if the future site of the pool was comprised of "virgin" soil. According to him, he had only come across an issue one time in his career. While digging the hole for the pool, debris from house construction was discovered. An engineer had to be brought in to determine how much more soil had to be removed. Several dump truck loads of soil had to be remove and replaced with rock. This unexpected expense increased the cost of the pool by over $6,000. * During the entire construction process, workers left their trash all over our yard. In one instance, one of the employees used our yard to go the bathroom, even leaving behind the toilet paper. * During construction of our spa, it took over a month to convince Mr. Cribb that the surface of the spa was not level. He even sent an email to us prior to its repair that he "just had it checked, and it was level." * Even though the contract stated that the exterior wall of the exposed pool surface would have stucco (due to the slope of the yard, part of the pool is above ground), Mr. Cribb tried to argue that it was a "typo" in the contract and that the surface was to be concrete. Post construction * The pool had multiple leaks shortly after construction was completed, requiring an outside firm to be contracted. * The base of the Badu swim jet motor was installed incorrectly and had to be redone. * The filter pump was put in incorrectly (backwards) causing one of the filters to break. The pump had to be turned around and new filters orders. * The pool was completed in July 2012 and since then, we have had to add 1 - 2 inches of water each week, depending on rainfall. For the first several months after completion, Mr. Cribb tried to convince us that it was due to evaporation. * In late November 2012, Mr. Cribb finally determined that the pool did leak and the cause was from the caulking around the Badu jets. Aastract Pools came out and replaced the caulking. * In December 2012, while winterizing the Badu jets, one of their workers broke the seal around the jets. They temporarily fixed it and recommended waiting until the outside temperature increased whereas they could lower the pool water level below the jets and repair the caulking. * In April 2013, they lowered the pool level and resealed the two jets. While the water level was low, multiple noticeable cracks on the inside of the pool surface became visible. Even though the pool water level was below the cracks, water could be seen running down the wall surface of the inside of the pool. When contacted, Mr. Trey Cribb (son) stated he had noticed the cracks the day before and had already contacted an engineer and an "expert" on silicone injection. It was determined that the concrete wall was saturated due to the leak(s) around the Badu jets. The cracks on the exterior exposed wall were patched with concrete and the ones on the interior with a special silicone. The process of covering the cracks on the exterior of the wall with concrete was repeated several times throughout the summer. * As of this writing, the exterior wall still leaks, creating white calcium streaks throughout the surface. Areas of mismatched concrete patches cover the exterior wall. The inside of the pool also contain two large patches over the Pebble Tek from the injection of the silicone. We have been completely frustrated with Mr. Cribb's inability to repair the leaking of the pool and his lack of concern for the horrible appearance of the pool as a result of the leaking. Unfortunately, we also have to continue spending time and money to ensure the water level remains at a certain level.
