WaterJack Boat Lifts and Docks currently employs 6 full time dock builders with carpentry specialties and 2 full-time boat lift technicians. Our two lead carpentry men were house framers prior to their introduction to dock building in 1999. They studied under a well known are dock builder, Bill McGinn. Bill had been building docks, mostly on Lake Wylie since the 1970's under the company name "The Master's Construction". I (Casey) was fortunate to work with Bill, mostly in the office, for most of my 9 years with his company. When Bill retired at 66 years young we purchased much of their equipment, assumed ownership of their phone line, website and hired most all of their employees. January 1st, 2014 our name changed from WaterJack Boat Lift Pros to WaterJack Boat Lifts and Docks.

I hired Casey and Waterjack to design and build my dock on lake Wylie. 18 months into the project Casey says he can't build my dock and literally pulls the rug out from under me. Most unprofessional experience I have encountered in my 57 years on this planet. I can't think of dragging a customer along for 18 months - and then say to him "sorry - good bye". It took me months to find another builder. That builder put me in the back of the line and here I sit waiting for my dock to be completed years later. Do not believe a word that comes from WaterJack - don't be a fool like me and trust Casey or his company. And the excuses you will have to endure - wow - next level excuses coming from Casey about whine whine whine... Just trying to save you the grief I am experiencing - You're welcome.

From the very first call, Casey was very personable and had quite a few helpful hints regarding design. He did a great job differenciating his product from some of the other builders that we had spoken with and were were quite pleased with the outcome. Consistent communication and an honest timeline were provided. The crew was also a pleasure to work with during this build. I would recommend Waterjack to anyone considering building a dock on Mountain Island Lake or any other area in which they operate.
Description of Work: Waterjack planned and completed the dock build for our new home. This included a permenant structure with a sitting and lounging area as well as a u shaped floating dock.

We solicited the services of the top three dock builders on Lake Wylie. I affectionately call them the Lake Wylie Mafia because they are all priced in the same range and they all build very good docks, which made the choice difficult. We selected WaterJack. Why? The owner Casey Nicholls clearly listened to our ideas, did not tell us that we "can't do this and can't do that" and then offered several great design options. In the end, he designed a dock that is extremely functional, fit our requirements and looks absolutely awesome. What really made the difference? The owner listened and delivered the product we wanted. Despite some of the design challenges. WaterJack found the solutions. The finishing work and attention to detail. Drive around the lake and look at docks, then look at a WaterJack Dock. There is difference. What are they? Trim along the roof lines. Rubber bumper and corner systems not typically seen on the lake that give smooth lines and a neat appearance, not to mention the protection they offer your boat. Amazing flip down cleats which give the dock a finish that I have never seen before. Excellent, no strike that, fantastic after the construction follow up (maybe not timely due to work loads, but great nonetheless). We had two call backs on items that needed "fine tuning" There was no argument, there was none of the usual "that is what happens when a dock settles etc". The team came out to the site, made adjustments, then came back unannounced a week later to make sure the changes made were what we wanted and if anything else needed to be done. I can't tell you how pleasing it was to have that kind of service. To be clear, we are happy customers. We do not have an affiliation with the company nor an interest in it. We are taking the time to write this review because WaterJack took the time to take care of us. It is that simple. Negatives if any: Yes, a minor one. Casey and his team are busy and the summertime brings the stress of everybody wanting their dock built now. The construction as stated above was perfect and the dock in my opinion is a literally a show piece. However, it took much longer to construct than we had planned. We had a family event planned and the dock was about 75% complete and this was a disappointment. However, when I mentioned this to Casey he understood the dilemma and sent a crew out to our home to get the dock "functional" in time for the party. Was it perfect, nearly. Was it functional and made the event a success.......yes. Who in this current climate would go that far to make sure you are happy? You just don't see service like that these days. Advice: If you are going to build a dock, you have some great choices on the lake. If you value service, a work with you attitude and don't mind a little more time getting it constructed, then WaterJack is an excellent choice. The crews do not cut corners, they are well experienced, very personal and will do whatever it takes to make sure you are happy. If you are not sure of the design aspects, WaterJack can offer you some creative solutions. Miscellaneous: Casey Nicholls, owner of WaterJack was introduced to me via another firm on the lake that closed its doors. He specialized in lifts, lift designs and dock building. Hence the name Water Jack. In the construction of our dock we wanted "clean lines" and functionality. Because of the company's access to various lift solutions, we had the option of installing "Sunlifts" via a solar powered system. This added feature was in addition to the cost of the dock but gave the project a very neat and clean finish. It also provided us with many more options than we thought possible. We are grateful for the results and truly enjoyed working with the WaterJack team.
