We have I disaster created by Stonehaven remodeling! We asked sales manager,Stacy, to renovate our master shower to a roll-in accessible shower. We explained health concerns including spinal fusions, knee surgeries, lung cancer/COPD, which may cause one of us to need wheelchair access in the future. We’ve been at this for three months. Apparently Stacey did not communicate to the workers that it was to be a roll- in shower. They put in a WEDI shower tray, with a 2 inch lip. When my husband asked how the wheelchair could get in, the tile mason on site said, “ Lift up the front of the wheelchair, and lift it in!” Our original four year old shower did not have a lip that high! That’s when they added an unsightly ramp with trip points at three edges, as nothing was flush with the surrounding flooring. The ramp is twice as steep as an ADA recommended 1:12 ratio. I could not push my hubby up the bumpy 1:6 ramp. Owner Chris Chambers refuses to make it right. He’s keeping our $3100 down payment. We will fight this later in court, and are preparing an official BBB complaint. ( they informed us that our complaint was too serious to only do a review). Chris refuses to give us the references, and pictures that Stacey promised us they have of other showers remodeled for similar reasons. Stacey had said they had done” thousands”. Now we’ve no choice but to find a trustworthy pro, tear it all out, and start over.

"Now that the BBB has listed this dispute as settled, I may now respond to the reviews. I do wish things would have been different with your experience and we would have liked to been able to finish your project and make you happy. We do feel like we did what our agreement was for and even tried work with you on additional ideas/items to try and make you happy with the product chosen. In the end I hope you were able to get what you were looking for and are able to enjoy your shower now."

The project was better than expected. The professional team installed not so simple installation of 6 transom windows, as well as provided wainscoting installation in 3 rooms. The work was done satisfactorily and I could not be happier they achieved my vision. I would highly recommend these folks to do interior installation work of any complexity.

Stonehaven did a great job with my renovation. They were professional and always pleasant. They did a good job of matching the addition to the existing home. I had a number of issues pop up during the project due to the age of my home, and Stonehaven was always quick to provide a solution. It was great working with Stacy Beam.

We hired Stonehaven to replace a window. Here's a brief summary of the problems. - We agreed to pay half up front, they charged in full. - They never communicated with us. Stacy (the manager) said he'd call me in two weeks, I called him 3.5 weeks later to get the work kicked off. All communication with the company was initiated by me. - We asked to have some water damaged drywall replaced. I stayed home from work to meet the drywall guy for three no shows. When I called a week after the second no show to get an update Stacy told me he forgot. - They billed $250 for the drywall work, but when they finally sent a guy, they only sent him to mud over the problem area. - They broke several pieces of vinyl outside, when I politely pointed it out to Stacy I got a surprisingly rude attitude in response, but they eventually did replace the siding. - The only thing we asked for was a refund of the $250 for the drywall work that wasn't done. They refused, citing man hour costs and minimum billing. - There were a few more negligible items, i.e. handfuls of nails left in the yard and poorly caulked window on the inside. We were hoping to use them again next year for a $20,000+ master bathroom remodel, but we will be steering clear.

"Mr. and Mrs. [Member Name Removed], Customer satisfaction is very important to us. I am sorry that you are unhappy with the project done on your home. It is never our intention to disappoint our customers. It seems there may have been some misunderstandings along the way and I truly apologize for that. I would like to respond to some of your key points. Your payment collected upon starting the job, our normal procedure on a project of this type would be to collect half at contract signing and remaining half at the completion of the project. However, when paying with a credit card, we do require payments on smaller projects to be paid in full at signing. This was expressed to you at the time; I apologize if this was not made clearer from the beginning. The time frame estimated for your materials to arrive was approximately 2 weeks. We truly did not receive the materials before the day you called in and got a crew over as soon as they were available. Unfortunately, we have no way of knowing the exact date that the supplier will receive the materials needed, we estimate time frame as best that we can. I have talked to all of our guys about better communication with our customers and setting more accurate expectations. As you and I discussed last week, Stonehaven was not contracted to do any of the painting, per your request. The prep work, caulking, and sanding is generally done by the painter we bring in, however in this case we were not contracted to do any painting. It was also discussed at the start of the project that there would most likely be some siding damage. The damaged siding was replaced at no cost to you as a courtesy. No damage was found inside the wall or to the drywall that needed to be replaced, the void found was left by the builder of the home who left the uneven ledge was repaired as requested. We did attempt to send out a drywall guy to skim the surface. They did come out to your home multiple times; however, they did not have the correct address and were driving around your neighborhood while we tried to get a hold of you to see what was wrong in what we had listed. When we could not get in touch with you right away he went to another job and came back later that afternoon once he had the correct information. Again, I am truly sorry your experience with us was less than perfect. I appreciate the feedback and will use the information to improve our customer relations in the future."

Check out Angie's List Magazine this month ( April 2016) and read about the Hidden Hazard, Asbestos. My interview and review about Stonehaven Remodeling Services is featured in the article. What an honor it was to have been contacted by the writer Paul Rouge after he read how Stonehaven's negligence in handling the asbestos during work he did at my home put my family's, especially my 2 grand daughter's, health at risk! Here's the link to read the article online: [*** Link removed ***] If you have any questions, please feel free to private message me! And while you're on Angie's List you might want to take note that Stonehaven's rating is B not A as he advertises.

We first met Mr. Chris Chambers with Stonehaven Remodeling Services in July 2010 when they did quite a bit of remodeling to our home. The experience was smooth, stress free and the quality of the work done is beautiful. So when it came time to do more home improvements we knew he was the one to call.
First, I want to let you know what a pleasure it is to work with Mr. Chambers. It is one thing to be professional and courteous, however, it takes a very special person to make people feel as though they are the only ones who exist. I am not so naive as to think that they did not have other jobs going at the same time as mine, but I do know that every question or concern posed to Chris or his crew was handled with the highest quality of respect and professionalism, never making us feel bothersome or a nuisance.
As for the quality of the work done to my home, the addition to the back of the house is flawless and beautiful. The lines & continuity are seamless; It looks like it was built with the house. The flooring throughout the house is gorgeous! So much care was taken to make sure that we achieved the desired look that we were going for. Chris and Rob were also very helpful in the design process of the renovation. And even helped find ways to save us money on materials. They really made every effort to learn what was important to us & then we made our decisions based on aesthetics & practicality. The crew for Stonehaven, are very respectful and also do a great job.
Stonehaven brings a quality with them that anyone would love to have in their home. I am more than happy to recommend Stonehaven Remodeling Services to anyone who has a remodeling or building project.
Thank you Stonehaven crew and Chris, for a job well done. We are loving our new home!

This review is longer than most, but if you are considering hiring Stonehaven, I hope you will please take time to read my experience. During remodel at my home employees of Stonehaven Remodeling Services sanded the under flooring in my kitchen which contained ASBESTOS. Mr. Chris Chambers, owner of Stonehaven, and the person I hired to be General Contractor, was not in my home to supervise his workers.  After this sanding was done, an Environmental Testing Service came and took a floor sample to test for asbestos. A few days after the test, I asked Mr. Chambers what the results of the test were and he stated to me, ?It showed just a trace of asbestos and there was nothing to worry about". At that time I had no reason not to trust his integrity. Four months later, while going through my documents to file a complaint with The Better Business Bureau ,(explained below), I became aware that Mr. Chambers had failed to provide me a copy of the report from the ETS about the asbestos. I contacted the Environmental Inspector and he immediately e-mailed me a copy of the report. Upon reading this report, TO MY HORROR, I found out the flooring sample showed much more than "A TRACE", but in fact the amount of asbestos was "ABOVE FEDERAL EPA RECOMMENDED LIMITS", and the report recommended that the homeowner be notified of findings, which were - ?Possible Health Risk; Many studies have proven that exposure to chrysotile asbestos can cause a number of serious health conditions, including lung cancer, asbestosis and mesothelioma?. The asbestosnetwork.com states: "There is NO SAFE LEVEL OF ASBESTOS; EVEN MINIMAL LEVELS MAY CAUSE ASBESTOS DISEASE."  As I stated before, Mr. Chambers did not tell me the true results of the assessment report. He in fact LIED to me about the findings and WILLFULLY WITHHELD this important information, and in doing so, exposed me and my family, my grand babies! to ASBESTOS dust and the deadly risks associated with exposure.  His work ethics, negligence, and morality are inexcusable. To put me, my family, and especially my 15 month and 10 year old grand-daughters at the slightest risk through his lies and negligence are unacceptable! Had I known that the extreme amount of dust in my home, which covered everything, including my furniture and curtains, contained asbestos, I would have immediately left the premises and brought in a skilled cleaning crew myself to clean every area in my home. As required by the EPA Asbestos Laws and Regulations, the codes set forth in the SC Department of Health and Environmental and the United States Department of Labor, immediate clean up should have been performed. This is what Stonehaven should have done but did not. I would have never allowed exposure of this hazardous contamination to my small grand-daughters. But I was not given this choice. Mr. Chambers willfully withheld important information, and I can only assume it was to avoid the expense of the proper handling of the relocation and cleanup, or any liability associated with the gravity of the mistake his workers made by sanding the flooring which should have been avoided at all cost! I filed a complaint with the NC Licensing Board for General Contractors, but when I spoke to them after receiving notice that they found no probable cause to conduct a disciplinary hearing, I was told the asbestos incident did not fall under their authority. I was forced to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau when, after 6 weeks and 5 requests,  Mr. Chambers continuously refused to give me sales receipts for materials bought during the work he did in my home. I needed sales receipts to enforce my warranties on these products. It took four more months of back and forth thru the BBB and me finally HAVING TO HIRE AN ATTORNEY for Stonehaven to give me the receipt I needed to enforce the 50 year warranty on my hardwood floors. Mr. Chambers brought in 2 cleaning ladies to "clean ?my home. One spoke no English and the other spoke very limited English. During the several hours they were in my home they broke 3 window blinds, severely scratched the front of microwave, broke a 120? wooden curtain rod, damaged an oak sofa table and broke a custom crafted one of a kind child?s chair. The seat of the chair was broke completely in two during the time his cleaning service was here. It is my assumption that the lady attempted to use the chair as a stepping stool and it would not support her weight. This chair was hand-made especially for my 15 month grand-daughter and even though Mr. Chambers had the oak table top refinished and the chair repaired, it does not put back the hand-made title and the sentiment attached to the chair. She also did not clean the granite dust, epoxy glue; paint and caulking off the new hardwood floor, but instead applied a WAX over all the dirt, sealing it in! I did not want my brand new oak hardwood floor waxed. In fact, I had intentionally put a specific floor cleaner on the bar and ask her to use it, but she undoubtedly did not understand me or chose to ignore my request. Mr. Chambers said he discussed these incidents with the two women who were cleaning, and they have denied waxing the floor and said the damages were not caused by them. I suppose it is insinuated that I did all these damages myself! I can honestly say all these items were not damaged before their arrival and were damaged after they departed.  I ended up re-doing everything they did in an attempt to undo the damages. I have still been unable to remove some of the epoxy glue that was sealed into the floor. Also my new hardwood floors do not have that luster that should be on new oak flooring. In my opinion my floors look as if they are 5+ years old. I am upset, but left to live with the damage. I also did not charge Mr. Chambers the $104.00 it cost me to replace the blinds and curtain rod, or for the days it took me to wash every dish, pot, and surface in my home. Including having drapery, bed comforters, couch and chair cleaned. The cleaning lady offered to pay $8.00 for one blind. The other damaged were not discovered till she had left. A few days after Stonehaven was done in my home, I noticed water in front of my refrigerator.  I thought a piece of ice had dropped out and melted, so I cleaned it up and thought nothing more about it. I noticed the water puddle again later that day and, after investigation by myself, my son, and a general contractor, it was determined that the connection of the water line to the ice maker had been cracked. The assessment of the contractor was that during the moving of the refrigerator, which could only be attributed to Stonehaven?s crew as they were moving it constantly during the remodel, the extreme ?stretching? of this line and the connection caused it to crack and begin to leak. During our investigation, I became aware that the floor under the refrigerator was ruined, and buckling from the saturation, all just days after I had paid thousands of dollars for a new floor. When I addressed this issue with Stonehaven's owner, Mr. Chris Chambers, he denied all accountability. The estimated cost to replace the floor and fix the fridge was $300.00. I am left to pay for the repairs.

Stonehaven said "I have been an unreasonable customer."

My response is: Dealing with Stonehaven Remodeling Services and the owner Mr. Chris Chambers was one of the worst nightmares I have ever had to deal with.  If wanting care of my home and furnishing to be taken by Mr. Chambers' employees and damages done by them corrected makes me an ?unreasonable customer" then I guess I must wear my title with honor. During my remodel, there were over 20 items broken in my home. The lid to my washing machine, the timer knob on my oven, the glass stove-top scratched, over 20 holes were punched in the new hardwood floor and scratches too numerous to count. There were many others, including the damages done by the house cleaners. Please view attached photos that show examples of his work. He would never give me a ti

Chris and his staff was very friendly and pleasant to work with.  Rob contacted me immediately to schedule for an estimate. He was always punctual, responsive and gave great input and ideas on the project.  Everything was coordinated with great timing. Rob is wonderful to work with!  I received an estimate very quickly compared to other companies that I was trying to get estimates for at the same time for comparisons.
Project: We had 2 (9 X 14) rooms and 1 (7 X 14) room upstairs to be completed so that we could have storage spaces with some climate control. They insulated and drywalled all 3 rooms(taped, mudded and sanded). Subflooring and vinyl (that we provided) was also put down with trim to complete the room. AND, Chris threw in door framing for all 3 rooms as a military discount! Thanks for the support Stonehaven!
It took about a week to complete the project and the staff was punctual and courteous everyday. During the project we wanted to add on the subflooring and vinyl install and they were able to accomodate right away for a very reasonable cost.  Rob kept in touch and checked in on the project which we appreciated because it made us feel that he was with us from the start to the end.    We were very pleased with the project.

n in October.  About a week later Chris and Matt came to talk about their steps in completing the job.  It was a mistake to  take out the vanity in the master bath at that point because the situation became two partial baths which was more than very inconvenient.  My husband had already done the demolition of the bathtub and its surround in the guest bath along with replacing the toilet.
The walls with interior molding were knocked out but were not replaced for several weeks.  Chris instructed me to tape a huge garbage bag over the openingsbecause of the mold bacteria inside the walls.  I did not feel well during this time because of my asthma though the bag somewhat helped with the air quality in the master bathroom.
The next issue was removing the toilet in one of the bathrooms when no remodeling activity was going on.  No-one discussed this removal with my husband or me.  The toilet was removed before there was a need for the construction crew to do this.  The tub didn't arrive several  weeks or more.  My husband replaced the toilet after the tub was installed...  This was just another needless aggravation for us.
Overall, my experience was one of aggravation and needless delay.
My husband and I are thinking about redoing our kitchen but we will not choose Stonehaven Remodeling.  There is no communication between the owners of the company (Chris and Matt) and Noe is left as stranded as the homeowner.
We still are haivng issues with the guest bathroom because muddy water keeps flowing out of the tub spigot (it's never flowed with muddy water in the past).  Although I showed this to Matt and asked that he do something, he tried to say that this was going on in the past and pointed to stain on the toilet.  The new toilet was installed (by my husband) at the same time as the tub.  Whatever was done to the water line was done by Stonehaven and has yet to be corrected.

I met with Chis of Stonehaven and told him what I wanted and requested an estimate.  He provided me a comprehensive, written estimate which the other two contractors did not.  The other two contractors only gave me an estimate over the phone with no documentation backing up what they were quoting.  Although, Stonehaven was not the cheapest quote to come in, I chose them because I had a written document stating what they would do so there would be no misunderstandings about the job being done.  The written estimate also gave me a chance to go over the job estimate with Chris and ask questions and make any changes to insure that we both understood what was to be done.  After the work progressed, I talked to Chris about some changes I wanted made on the existing portion of the house.  He was very cordial and provided the approx. cost for the to do what I wanted on on the existing structure.  In Feb. 2013, I contracted Stonehaven to provide mold treatment as I knew I had a mold problem and they are a certified mold treatment company. The Stonehaven employees that I dealt with were punctual, courteous., personable and very hygienic when it comes to their own person and how they enter your home.

This project was very low stress because of the fact Chris took full responsibility for keeping me informed. He was very prompt & took great pride in being as unobtrusive as possible. The most impressive thing to me was the attention to detail. Each time a subcontractor was on my property, Chris was here to get them started & he personally inspected every finished job. There were no surprises, I was shown problems with rotting wood, etc when they surfaced & was given my options. Everything possible was done to ensure my satisfaction with the job. For instance, at on point it seemed the installation of the Rinnea would be cost prohibitive due to the perceived length of new lines.

Chris came up with a plausible Plan B & instead of costing 3K extra, it was $500.00. He was able to save money in other places & even with additional requests, my bill was only $160.00 over the original quote. I was very impressed by Chris's willingness to explain any process where I was unfamiliar. This attitude & willingness to help put me at ease. A great example of attention to detail & knowing the client is the fact Chris catproofed the screendoors on the new porch. I am extremely satisfied with the job because it is now very hard to remember the "before". Chris will be starting the next project which is building a 2-car attached garage, new roof & painting the exterior.
