Popcorn Squad

We purchased a 1550 SF home. I wanted those popcorn ceilings removed! I called The Popcorn Squad. Rick was always responsive and friendly. He quoted me a price and scheduled the job. They crew arrived on time and completed on time. Perfect, clean, beautiful job! My ugly ceilings are gone! Would recommend over and over!

We purchase our current home a little over 2 years ago and we had several contractors come in and quote work. The house was built in 1980 and everything was original to include the popcorn ceiling. Unfortunately, we had some other immediate needs to take care of in the house so the ceilings had to wait. Fast forward and we decided to move forward with having the work completed. We knew the outcome would like nice but we did not expect it to turn out as nice as it did. The quote was reasonable and the work was started on time and finished on time. In the middle of the work one of the employees had a family emergency and the company made arrangements to keep the work moving. We will definably be using them to finish other portions of the house very soon.

Everything went according to plan. Workers arrived on time each day and they did exceptional work. It is messy but they did a great job of cleaning indoors and out. A+ rating is well deserved.

Could not be happier with the decision to remove the popcorn ceiling and especially to use the Popcorn Squad. They were able to squeeze me in over the holiday so the work was completed before my move in date. Mike did a great job communicating every part of the process and I felt comfortable the work was being done while I was out of town. Augie was meticulous and did a spectacular job. And did a nice job with cleanup given the messy process. They were price competitive and worth every penny! I would use them again hands down and will definitely recommend to anyone on the fence about removing popcorn ceiling...it's worth it!

Fabulous! The gentleman were professional, accommodating, and timely. The price was very reasonable and Mike was easy to get a hold of when and if I had any questions. Absolutely no problems.

The removal work itself was the highest quality. The crew sealed off every room and took every precaution to ensure that the debris from the removal process was contained as much as possible. At the end of the project they cleaned the house so thoroughly that I could hardly find evidence that they had been there. Every bit of popcorn finish was removed without leaving marks on the ceiling, and the new finish and paint job on the ceilings were flawless. The management of the project and communication about progress were much less satisfactory. Less than a week into the project the crew working on the second floor was pulled off, leaving only one person working on the first floor. Eventually that person ended up doing the second floor as well. As a result, the project took ten days longer than originally estimated. The project manager failed to provide any information about the changes in crew or the project end date, and I was only able to get useful information by talking with the one remaining crew member. I realize that this company is extremely busy, as are many other contractors, but a project already in process should not suffer because the company chooses to overbook.

We called Popcorn Squad based in their glowing reviews here on Angie's List. Mike came out to give us an estimate, explained exactly what to expect, etc. He was friendly, communicative, and throughout the process, genuinely invested in making sure we were completely satisfied. It was a big job for a large home that had to be broken into two parts (main living area vs. in-law suite and basement). We were able to completely isolate one chunk of the house while they did their work, then we moved into the other when the time came to switch. Jim and William were friendly, courteous, and professional at all times. During the last leg of work, two members of their crew had separate family emergencies on the same day that caused some delay, but sometimes life happens and we understand that. There are worse things in the world than mild inconvenience. Jim and William, on their own accord, worked through the July 4th holiday to make up for lost time, which we greatly appreciated. The end result was absolutely fantastic. Despite being such messy work, they managed to keep everything, including our brand new carpets, as clean as humanly possible. While the job was a touch more expensive than we were hoping, it turned out to be money well spent. You get what you pay for, and Popcorn Squad is the best. They do great work and I can't recommend them enough.

It went well after resolving confusion on start date and work to be done in kitchen. Michael was great from beginning to end making sure all work met my expectation. Once started the crew worked mostly as expected. The team did a great job of cleanup when done and returned the next day to address an issue with kitchen. The crew completed job within estimate time line. I had some tools and equipment on my Granite counter tops which was correct the next day. Outside of this, they would have an overall A rating.

We've always disliked popcorn ceilings and when my wife and I purchased our new home we finally decided we wanted to make sure all our ceilings were flat. These guys came in and did an excellent job. Honestly looks like a brand new ceiling and it's perfectly flat throughout the house. They showed up exactly when they said they would and there were no hidden fees or tricky business. I'd definitely hire them again for other services they offer (just not popcorn ceilings because they got rid of it all).

The work was outstanding. The professional crew did a great job and unbelievably there was no mess. They were prompt each day (1 week of being on time) and they were very diligent. I highly recommend popcorn squad for this work.

Bill was amazing- he was able to work around my parents and I staying at the house with 3 dogs. I paid the price initially quoted and the project was completed on time. My ceilings look amazing now!!! To anyone considering removing their popcorn ceiling, I would recommend alternate living arrangements before scheduling.

The workmanship and skill was very professional. We had Auggie, who was very personable. Auggie did all the work and he went above and beyond to make sure we had the best result possible. The process of prepping was well done which made cleanup minimal. Very happy with the end results.

Bravo! expectations were exceeded by a mile!! Your representative Michael is amazingly professional to every detail and managed our job to perfection. He was extremely knowledgeable and patient with our concerns and gave us excellent advice. Their was no mess or dust as the room was enclosed with plastic covering and the debris was removed and room left clean. Our job was finished on time and is so beautiful! We are so happy to have found PopCorn Squad and Michael to help us with our renovation project on our condo. The cost is very competitive and worth every penny and more for the peace of mind of having a great job done at a reasonable price.

What started as a big job (more than 2500 square feet of popcorn removal) became huge when we found out we had asbestos ceilings. The team at popcorn squad educated us on what needed to be done, each step that would be taken, and delivered as and when promised. Our house is not only asbestos free, but our ceilings are beautiful. Special note of thanks to Jesse - our onsite job lead. So respectful, prompt, clean, responsible. I wish these guys did more than just popcorn because I would definitely hire them again!

Very good. Auggie did an amazing job. They really strive to keep the work space clean and dust free. Our particular layout made that difficult because it was an area square in the middle of the house which required us to go through the work area so we did end up with dust at the end. If you could avoid using the work area during the project I believe the cleanup and dust would be minimal. They seal the area and drop and remove all your fixtures during the project, then replace them all at the end. Price was very fair for the scope of work done. I would highly recommend them.

The Popcorn Squad did a wonderful job removing the popcorn ceiling and refinishing the ceiling throughout my house. Mike Pacino was very helpful and explained the job process in detail . We are very happy with the finished result. Jim and William performed the work and did an excellent job. They are truly professionals and also very courteous.

Job went very well, on time, Jessie the site manager was great, clean up and haul away went well, yucky popcorn is gone and the ceilings are smooth and beautiful. Made the whole house look fresh and new! Added value to my home I'm sure. Very pleased with job.

My wife and I bought a new house in 1998. It has three floors with vaulted ceilings and many closets. We decided to give the house a new fresh look by removing all of the popcorn. We knew this would be a huge job, not just the removal of the popcorn, but the refinishing of the bare ceiling and the painting. We interviewed three companies and decided to hire the Popcorn Squad. Start to finish required eleven days. They covered–with plastic sheeting–everything in the house: walls, furniture, stairs and floors. We had to move out of the house but visited each day to check on the progress. The work crew, Jim and William, were on the job each day from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm. Some days additional crew were added as needed. Jim is a true artist with skim coating or mudding the ceilings as the walls progressed from popcorn to a perfect flat primed sheen onto which a "True White" zero VOC paint was applied. After clean-up they left the house amazingly clean (due to spending so much time cocooning the house away from the popcorn removal & dust). Writing this review, we've been back in the house for three weeks and we haven't noticed any problems with the ceilings such as seams or flaws showing through the paint. My wife and I could not be more satisfied with the results: like-new, flawless ceilings. Michael, the sales representative, also added recessed lighting and smart switches which anyone might consider while having ceilings refinished. As you might guess, we highly recommend the Popcorn Squad's services. Their pricing was in the middle range of the three estimates and their quality was what anyone should expect from experienced craftsmen doing their job–perfection!

The team from Popcorn Squad did an AMAZING job on the ceilings. This was a particularly challenging job because we had 3 walls removed and they needed to create new transitions between the rooms where the walls once were. When they were done you couldn't even tell that the walls were once there. We love the results and would HIGHLY recommend Popcorn Squad to anyone thinking about having this type of work done.

Shane and Mark were EXCELLENT. They did a wonderful job, were easy to talk to, and took additional time and effort to deal with difficult areas/situations that arose in this job. The final product was outstanding, ceilings look beautiful. I would highly recommend them!

The work was EXCELLENT!! The crew (Jim / Mark) worked around my husband and I staying in the house while the popcorn was being removed from the ceilings and kept the house as clean as could be given the job is very messy. I couldn't believe how great the ceilings looked once they were done and painted. When I got home on Friday (final day), I could not even tell that anyone had been working in the house. The paint work was also the BEST.... the walls and moldings are beautiful. The crew were on time everyday, and never left a mess. If I had known the experience was going to be this good, I would have done this a long time ago.

So happy with the work that was completed by Popcorn Squad. I recently purchased a home in Huntersville, and was scouring contractors for someone that could help me remove the popcorn ceilings and take on some of the burden of painting. Mike was super responsive from day one, even when there was a possibility of the house closing being delayed.
