Buyer Beware! Please do not do any business with Palmetto Electric LLC in Florence SC nor Cross Country, also doing business as Total Protect Home Warranty Company. I put in a claim with the warranty company for a ceiling fan that stopped working. They sent Palmetto Electric Company LLC to fix a fan that ended up needing just a new remote control. I paid them the required amount of $125. I phoned the home warranty company after I received another bill in the mail from Palmetto Electric for $115, after I had already paid them the $125 at the time they came out. The home warranty company said they could not do anything about it. I paid the home warranty company about $50 a month each and every month and, if I include that amount plus the other amounts too, that means I paid $290 all for a remote control. I could have bought a brand new ceiling fan from Costco for about $100. I fault Palmetto Electric for not telling me up front what I would need to pay for the remote and the complete cost of their service visit. I fault the home warranty company for not telling me, too. I ended my contract with the home warranty company after they said they could not help me. I won't be doing any more business with Cross Country aka Total Protect. I phoned Mr. GaCoby Benjamin with Palmetto Electric and he told me that the charges were reasonable. I disagree. Mr. Lee Benjamin sent me a letter saying that he would sue me for the money if I didn’t pay him. I don't think that Cross Country is a reputable home warranty company and I don't think that Palmetto Electric is a reputable company either. I reported them both to the Better Business Bureau. I suggest not doing business with either of them.

They took two days to call me back and they didn't show for the first scheduled appointment. They finally came and installed the new opener just fine. I moved and now have renters in my home and it's now 9 months later and my garage door opener is not working correctly. The metal is bent and the cable is loose that connects from the opener to the door itself. I have called my home warranty (HSA) and they tell me they no longer use Palmetto Electric and that if they send someone else to fix it, I would have to pay another $50. Palmetto supposedly warranties their work for 1 year and I can't get anyone to answer their phone or call me back to schedule an appointment to fix it. Since I have renters in my home now, I have a liability on my hands if this causes an accident. I definitely do NOT recommend this company if you need anything done in a timely manner or if you expect a professional electrician that will back up his work later on.
