May, 2017. He had done satisfactory work for me before. This time when I phoned him and gave him my address, he quoted me $150.00 for the first and an additional $100.00 for the second. On completion he charged me $358.00, because I lived about a mile over the Florence County county line. He knew my address, and he had been here before. I paid the $358.00 and after a few days I called and left a message that I was not happy with this. I got no response.

The crown was all but gone, so they formed a new crown. It still leaked, so the chimney was power washed and sealed. This was two years ago. I have not had a leak since! I am very happy with the work and timeliness.

After he completed the water test, he failed to cover the chimney to protect it from rain. So, my husband and I climbed onto the roof and rewrapped it so that we wouldn't get rain water in the house. (We ended up getting on the roof and rewrapping the chimney on 3 different occasions throughout this ordeal). He came out to clean the chimney one day, then returned another day to seal it. He replaced some brick( 10 brick or less). He only used half of the brick that I had purchased . Mortar was missing in several spots, a couple of bricks were crooked or protruding out of the chimey. Mortar was smeared on top of the new brick and surrounding brick in various places. There were globs of mortar hanging off of the chimney in a couple of spots? He did try to remove some of the excess mortar, but there was still a lot of mortar stuck to the brick. He asked me multiple times where the bricks were, that had the mortar smeared on them, even though he was standing on a ladder directly in front of them . He was called again, because the chimney still leaked (not as much as it did initially). He came out again and sealed the brick , with no additional cost. The chimney persisted in leaking. He suggested something that he could put on the bricks to fill in the holes...an additional cost. At this point, a contractor came out and assessed the chimney and stated that the mortar was falling off , the chimney was not structurally sound and that the brick was not properly installed . In addition to the above, the gutter was dented next to the chimney and a pile of brick pieces remain in the yard for us to find a place to send them.

They were able to get me an appointment right away. They did show up an hour early; better early than late. After his inspection and they swept the chimney, he also took the time to show me how to use our fire place and instructed me on proper burning techniques, as well as give me some tips and tricks. They took care to work clean and efficiently. We will use them again.

This was my first time with them. It was wonderful. Bill, the owner, was very pleasant and knowledgeable. They kept my area clean around the fireplace while working. Bill noticed there wasn't a damper door which is essential for insulating the home so he'll be coming back out to do that soon. We're already scheduled for the installation.
