He originally gave me the cheapest quote for a new heatpump (installed) at $3600. He requested half of the money up front and I was hesitant but went ahead and gave him the money ($2000). After talking with him about the unit I inquired about the particular model since it wasn't on the quote. After he saw I knew the difference between the different Rheem brand models he calls the next day and says that "they" (C C Dickson Company, Greenwood SC) gave him the wrong quote and my unit would be $600 more. He claimed that they gave him a quote for a mobile home heatpump. This is the oldest hvac con ever, the bait and switch trick. I immediately demanded my money back but he hesitated and didn't want to give a refund. He tried to convince me to let him put in the unit for the original quote after I asked for a refund and explained that I knew what was going on. He agreed to give me the money back the next day but was a no show. I had to call the local sheriff's department and have them give him an ultimatum; return the money or go to jail. Finally got the money back but it was a headache. This guy is a con artist
