ROY'S APPLIANCE PARTS & SERVICE

Description of Work: Diagnosed our dishwasher, suggested necessary repairs, but more importantly, warned us that it might be more cost-effective to simply replace the machine.

Description of Work: I called and spoke to Roy on Thursday, April 4th. He came the same day to work on my washing machine and my dishwasher. Roy arrived in a company truck and dressed for his type of work. He was professional and able to diagnose the issues with both appliances timely. Parts did have to be ordered and Roy kept me informed. The parts were in on the following Monday and he came right out to make the repairs. Roy did not try to sell me things I did not need. He was also hands on in teaching me about my appliances, the proper use of them, and tips for me to maintain the appliances on my own. He cleaned up after completing the repairs. His rate of $65.00 was fair and competitive and the time to do the work was done in less than one hour.

Description of Work: I have had very good luck with Anglies list on the references that I've found before, so I went to Anglies List when I had problems with a dishwasher. I called up a local person in my area and they indicated to me that they could come out on Monday mid morning (it was a Friday afernoon) so I thought this would be acceptable. I didn't receive a call from them letting them know that they were on their way out until 2:00pm. On the phone I asked them if they would take my credit card/debit card. They indicatd that they only took only took cash or check. I don't use either. I asked them if they would be willing to follow me to an ATM after the service since I had anotehr person here and I couldnt tell me how much cash I had and that I could either withdrawl the cash after the check to see how much it would cost to fix or if I needed to replace my diswasher. This was not acceptable. I asked them if they would allow me to send a check through my bank account afterwards, and they would not allow that, they also couldn't tell me how much just a service call was so before a fix to see if I wanted to fix it or to replace it. Everyone should be able to tell someone how much just a basic check should be. I wasn't sure based upon what was going on if I needed to replace it, beccause I think it's a pump in my dishwasher that needed to be replaced. On the Friday before the Monday Visit, I should have been told how much the service call was just to come out and told prior to them coming out that I needed to have cash on hand. Them not telling me the csot of a service call, and not willing to go with me to an ATM right after the amount showes that this maybe the type of idnivdual who may come in and say I don't know and then come up wiht a $500 bill. A good organization is able to tell you what the cost is just to come out and to check up to see how much it is just to check on the service. They don't need to identify the issue but to have a dollar amount and to be told I need to have cash in hand when he comes or at least follow me to an ATM afterwards since I wasn't told shouldn't be a problem.
