Response from Browning's Heating & Air Conditioning
There are always two sides to every story. This homeowner states low cost installation. He also states he entered into a maintenance agreement. What he doesn't say, is that he haggled price for weeks, and I dropped my original install price, to acquire the work (3600.00 not the 4000.00 he states). He was offered a maintenance agreement at time of installation, in which he declined. He shows an install date of June 2013, which is incorrect. System was installed June of 2012. System ran all summer, all winter, and well into this summer of 2013. At time of installation the renter ( this man owns two rental homes on Hilton Head Island ) was instructed as to what to do, to keep the condensate drain open and operating correctly. I was out of town, on a family emergency, for two weeks June of this year. During my absence, this homeowner tried to contact me with a problem with the system. He did agree to a maintenance agreement, two to three weeks prior to this problem. Unfortunately, family comes first, and I was unable to physically get over to his home to diagnose the problem. He actually sent me an email, with an invoice, that clearly states the problem was a clogged drain line ( due to non maintenance for a full year ). I'm sure there are many homeowners out there, that have run across this same problem with their own systems. Once the drain was cleared, the system went back to operating appropriately. Once I returned, and learned of what had transpired, I tried several times to contact the renter, to go over and take a look at the system. This was at the homeowners request. I made several calls, and left a few messages, and never got a response. I also made two special trips over to the home, and found no one home. By all rights, I should send this homeowner a bill, for two service calls ( weekend calls at that ). I certainly hate this one customer has had a problem, and wanted to take a minute to tell my side of things. I've been doing heating and air for many years, with MANY satisfied ( repeat ) customers. In this business, as in all business, we occasionally run into situations that are completely out of our hands. I certainly learned a few things from this, and will be extremely cautious about doing business via emails, with people that I've never met. I will continue to do my work, with professionalism and pride, as I always have in the past. We learn, we endure, and we move on.
