I had triple by pass surgery several weeks before pump failure. Called stokes because well pump stopped pumping. He arrived and stated that pump motor was burned up. I asked if he was capable of working on a well and he assured me he was. He replaced the pump. The system failed just a few hours after he left and had to be called back. It failed several times more in the following week.He stated that the water tank need replacing(which it did)After about $850.00 and still having failure, I decided to try to balance the systen and succeded. I took the old pump to a friend who actually works on wells and had him to check old pump to see if it could be repaired for a back up. Foud out that nothing was wrong with the pump!!! The flow regulator had a crack in diaphram and cost $15.00 to repair. Plus the new pump was a 3/4 hp and the old pump was a 1 hp.. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this company.
Description of Work: Called stokes plumbing for well failure. He arrived and stated that pump motor was "burned up". He replaced the pump. Later he stated I need a tank. He replaced the tank.

I will not use him again. He was not true to his word. He was suppose to fix a problem but did not fix the problem. He stated that in this phone call he would not come out again.

We called Stokes Plumbing to come fix a bathtub faucet that runs constantly and a kitchen drain that runs out into the backyard. Wesley came and gave an estimate. He charged $90 to install a repair kit in the tub, which I guess means he screwed the faceplate back on without fixing, repairing, or replacing anything. He charged $75 to clean the drain in the kitchen, which he says will fix the problem there. 2 problems with that. 1) His add in the paper states $25 off drain cleaning, so his regular price must be $100. A bit pricey about 10 minutes of work? 2) It didn't fix anything. Everything still runs into the backyard. Turns out, it is probably a $2 fix, a little plastic cap. Then, when he presents the bill for REPAIRS, which obviously didn't take place, he says that if we go buy a new faucet for the bathtub, he'll come back on Saturday at 11AM and install it for ONLY AN ADDITIONAL $60! At this point, we just wanted it done, so I waited ALL DAY on Saturday, foregoing all my other plans and causing my daughter to miss one of her close friend's birthday party. No Wesley. No anybody from Stokes plumbing. When I finally reached him on his phone, he was at the beach for what he says was an emergency. He stated he had left a message on my husband's phone, but he was at work, so I gave him my number and asked him to just call mine. He said he would, and that he'd come as soon as possible. He never came. He never called. Sunday, nothing. Oh yeah, they are advertising that they are available 24/7. So today, Monday, I call again at 9AM. He says something about the rain being a problem, and that he'd be on his way in a few minutes and would call me back in about an hour. HE DIDN'T COME! OR CALL! At about 1PM, I called again. No answer. A few minutes later, he called back and asked for some guy named Keith. When I said, "who?", he hung up and never called back. Finally a few hours later, my husband actually got him on the phone and was told that he was finishing up a job and would be on his way shortly. I drop what I am doing and rush back to my house AND WAIT AGAIN. After about an hour, I call him AGAIN. He's still trying to wrap up what he is doing and will be over as soon as possible. He'll call as soon as he's on his way. I have still seen no Wesley from Stokes Plumbing, nor has Wesley or anyone else from Stokes Plumbing called me to tell me they were coming, or not coming.

it was chrismas and we had all of our family over. the toilets were coming up in the bathtub. we actually had sewage on the bathroom floors coming from under the toilet. stokes came out within the hour and began work. the man dug up the line in front and unstoped the line. he then put in a plug so that it can be accessed from there in the future. he told me that we needed to put a camera in the line to see what caused it to stop up. he did that free of charge. he showed us on the tv where roots were growing in the pipe. then we told him about a dripping faucet that was driving me crazy. he offered to do it right then on CHRISTMAS DAY. 30 minutes later the shower was taken care of. this company worked at our house for 4.5 hours on christmas and only charged us $375.00. i was very impressed with the work the company did. i have since then brought them into our office at work to be our plumber there. i would recomend there services to anyone.

first, i called several companies in the florence area to recieve quotes. Stokes did not give me the lowest price but did come highly recomended from a friend. after speaking with the technician he went over all the details with me on the water heater. i felt like this was the right company to choose. i am now retired so i did not have alot of money to spare but with only about 200$ in price differance i was willing to pay the extra. stokes was the only company to provide a warranty with all of thier work and they even filled out papers for me to receive a tax credit as well as a credit from sce&g. the work was scheduled and they showed up right on time. it did take 2 hours longer than they expected but they did not mind working until 8.30 pm and they did not charge me any extra for the extra work that had to be performed. i did read the other two comments about this company and i must say that my experience was nothing like the others. i was more then happy with the guys at stokes and will do buisness with them again.
Description of Work: i had a rennia tankless water heater installed.

May 16, 2010, I had a a cut-off valve break leading from the toilet in the master bath. I called Stokes for the repair, they responded promptly which I thought was great. I thought I could have this company do a few other small projects for me. They replaced the valve and suggested I have a cut-off valve installed outside, and that was a good idea since the one indoors was not safe to use. I paid for the installation of the broken valve and parts, and for the installation of the cut-valve outside. That was May 16, 2010. After weeks and weeks of calling to find out when the outside cut-off valve would be installed, my husband and I were continually given promises of coming out on this day or that day, or the girlfriend would answer and promise that someone would return our calls. I called the owner of the company to see what could be done and he stated that he would install the valve himself instead of his son. He later told my husband, after not showing up himself, that he no longer had anything to do with the business and, we'd have to speak with his son. It is now August and still no shut off valve installed. No one from this company has ever tried to contact my husband or myself concerning this matter. Not even so much as a note left on the door. We're not able to finish the remodeling project in the master bath because we need a means of shutting off the main water valve which also means we now have to seek the sevices of another plumber in hopes of getting the bathroom remodeling completed. The overall experience has been very stressful and infuriating because these people obviously have no intention of installing the shut-off valve after having taken our money.
Description of Work: I had a cut-off valve leading from the toilet in the master bath replaced because the original had broken in the process of trying to uninstall the toilet from the lines.

Response from Stokes Plumbing
We at stokes plumbing feel that we have fulfilled our obligations to them but are still willing to go to whatever measures that she asks to resolve this issue. We do not want to allow this to escalate and leave a bad impression on current and future customers. but at the same time we do feel that if she would have answer or returned out phone calls she to would know where the shut off valve that our technician installed. They claimed to have finished job and they were paid in full. Said they would be sending the warranty on the new tankless hot water heater. We later realized that they had not hooked up the dishwasher or washing machine and the bathroom pedestal sink was falling off the wall. The pipes leading to the new sink were not placed properly so they kept the sink from sitting on the pedestal properly, also they used the old brackets from the old sink to install the new sink which causes the sink to wobble. It took a several days to get the washing machine hooked up, another 2 weeks and multiple calls to get the dishwasher hooked up and we still have not gotten the bathroom sink hooked up properly. We call them several times a week only to be promised that they are coming and they never show or call. Our latest calls either go to voice mail or to a secretary who promises to have someone call back. That never happens and we've never gotten the warranty on the water heater.
Description of Work: Hired to install new plumbing, new hot water heater, and new pedestal sink in bathroom that we had already purchased.
