We expected the house would be professionally updated with beautiful trims, colors, flooring, more spacious bathrooms, and most important – an extraordinary construction design with ADA accessible walk-in shower with convenient and safe accommodations for my mother and that the project would be completed by Thanksgiving 2021 for family gathering. I walked through early December and discovered that the house was filled with construction dust thickly floating in the air and covering all furniture, clothes, fixtures, vents, floors, etc. This was devastating as I’ve never seen anything like that - the house was unrecognizable and it was difficult to even see the new construction details as he nonchalantly continued to sand away at sheetrock, new trim, etc. his tools added even more dust everywhere.! I knew at that point it was going to be challenging to get in the house by Christmas. I hired flooring and painting contractors because he was extremely behind – working alone and could not add the floor and paint too. December – I hired a separate contractor to install hardwood flooring for bedrooms and painter because Wes seemed overwhelmed at this point alone and no resources to get us in the house temporarily for New Years and stay in guest bedroom as master wing was still in trim frame. Floor contractor delayed several times until construction saw tools and other equipment were removed and room cleared to allow him in. eventually able to do guest bedrooms but had to wait until late Feb/ early March for equipment to be moved to complete. Contractor requested painting before flooring but the house was filled with floating dust throughout and still he demanded that he sand more of the bead board, trim and walls. The painter that I paid was yelled at daily by Wes who demanded he return three times re- sand and repaint at my expense. However, the problem was trim that wasn’t professionally squared, uneven in spots, and walls that now showed many imperfections from constant sanding. Contractor’s solution initially for shower was to build floor up from entry to bathroom for roll-in shower. Immediately when I walked it I realized it would be a safety issue for my mother who has severe scoliosis. Paid Wes to remove flooring and do an alternative idea. He suggested building shower with 4” lip. Though it wasn’t what we expected or wanted, it was presented as the only option and seemed to that it might work as I understood stepping over lip into shower. Framing seemed that way. When I walked through the completed shower, I discovered that it was a step UP shower. That was an even worse solution for an elderly disabled person. Also, tiles and grouting not straight or even, also same for main bathroom floor tiling. Insisted that it be changed. Additionally, custom shower door had been ordered based on the size the shower was built @ $1700 cost. When I complained and requested replacement of poor-quality trim, he offered to cut pieces to fill gaps and uneven corners and find tile trim to cover rough uneven shower tile edges. He even said that he may replace a few tiles, but I didn’t want patching because I paid high dollar for professional work and materials. Also, I realized that the entire shower and floors would have to be torn out as it didn’t make sense to tear out a few tiles when it included floor and walls that were messed up. I found Freedom Shower Redi Tile roll-in shower solution. More expensive but Wes was not in agreement to pay anything. All expenses were going to lay on me. We now have a shower that my mother cannot use with uneven tiles in master and hallway bathrooms. DISSATISFACTION / HAZARDOUS CONCERNS: ADA master bathroom shower construction and design are unsatisfactory for my mother’s ADA needs and did not meet her needs Hazardous construction dust lingered throughout construction in entire house, ductwork, air, clothing, furniture, ceilings due to negligence of not protecting / covering these areas which required professional cleaners in December and May. Even newly purchased toilets were used and left unclean. Poor quality installation of shower and floor tiles with crooked, uneven, and poorly fit tiles, along with uneven grout did not meet professional quality expectations in master and main bathroom floors Construction of shower installation and design unsafe for disabled customer Walls and trim work show imperfections from excessive sanding, making new construction look less professional than before construction was done Barndoors left unfinished as well as downstair doors do not properly close/open Excessive damage to hardwood and marble tile due to negligence – repair pending. Dissatisfied with the labor rates for project that started at October for three bathrooms expansions with only one total demo still aren’t completed. Time extended to almost 6 months until I stopped to get house cleaned and cost is now $77k to contractor and additional $24K for our costs – minus cleaning/repair costs.
Description of Work: We selected Over The Moon Construction based on high ratings on the Angie List of Recommended Professionals with a vision to update my parents’ 20 yr. home with accessible bathrooms for my physically disabled mother. The four-sided brick ranch house with lower-level den was built with marble tile foyer and hardwood in all rooms except tile in kitchen and master bathroom. To eliminate potential tripping walking on carpet, the update ultimately included replacing carpet with hardwood in all bedrooms. The renovation request included the following: 1. To complete downstairs with new flooring, paint, correct two exit doors, counter area for refrigerator, oven, and sink. (Downstairs project has not been started yet. (He attempted the two glass doors on his last day, but they currently will not close and open properly. He replaced another main house French door with a glass door that works well. Toilet replaced in loft bedroom above the garage the last days per my added request.) 2. To update main bathrooms for ADA usage and space in master bathroom (replace garden tub with ADA roll in shower, refurb cabinets, replace toilets with ADA (He moved toilet and constructed walk up shower and tiled that will not work for my mom. He repaired French door in master and replaced rotted external trim. He replaced all light switches. He reconfigured closet entry.) ((b) make 1/2 math more accessible by removing wall to combine with laundry room, and (c) make the main bathroom more accessible by moving toilet/vanity back about 4 ft into linen & 1/2 of bedroom closet. 3. To replace master carpet with hardwood and two guest bedroom carpet (We ended up adding hardwood in those bedrooms too, due to out-of-stock carpet) but I hired another contractor for to do hardwood. Main bathroom vinyl tile replaced with tile as well as master tile replaced with tile ( uneven tiles and grout lines.) 4. To paint all bedrooms, bathrooms, and hallway (he did only one bedroom, but I hired another contract to speed up timeline for Christmas holiday. Paint contractor had to try working construction dust-filled environment while OTM contractor harassed him daily.) 5. Miscellaneous things: To reface the fireplace with bookshelves and transom windows. (No money nor time to do this at end.), replace closet doors in front bedroom with repurposed French doors, add barn doors in hallway and laundry room, his idea to enhance master bedroom entry (great idea), his idea to add beadboard in main bathroom and laundry room, his idea to add crown molding (more like trim) in bathrooms and master bedroom. Design Work Updates: Contractor suggested adding crown molding to all bedrooms and beadboard in main bathroom & laundry room Contractor suggested changing entry way into master bedroom to allow more room for wheelchair Requested pocket doors for laundry room and hallway to conserve space Contractor suggested changing angle of master closet to allow more space in bathroom Contractor suggested reusing cabinet and using butcher block top for laundry room sink Reused tall cabinet to inset in master entry way previously hall closet Repurposed old doors for French closet doors in guest bedroom vs buying but cost was probably a little more Add beadboard to family bathroom tub siding based on video I shared Replace small swing French door with glass door the last month

They had to comeback to Jack the house up . He didn't make it. He brought an electrician. They brought 3 people to fix everything. He started the job and didn't finish. So now I have windows that have been taken out and needs to be put back in. He didn't complete my windows, doors, floorings. plumbing and electrical. So I had to hire people to fix the things that he didn't finish. It was a total disaster experience.

Due to the jobs extensive unseen pre-existing conditions with electrical , water damage and additional items, we had advised the customer to bring in specialty contractors before any drywall and flooring work. The windows and house framing had extensive water damage and needed to be replaced and structurally secure. The customers did not want to wait to have custom windows made and left me to re-frame the windows to fit the now size of windows. Windows and framing were taken out and installed the same day they were taken out. They were all functioning properly except for one that we put in for the night and needed to do additional modifications to the window framing due to the customer buying oversized bay windows since their only other option besides ordering a custom fit window, would be to buy a smaller window. The windows never completed due to the customer asking me to move to a different part of the job. All work was completed before house leveling contractor arrived and to perform work on that part of the job. Some work did fall behind schedule to the house needing a tremendous amount of additional work before we could move on to the next part as we explained to the customer. We are a very hard working company that try’s to always give our customers top notch work without cutting any corners.

Great job of taking down a wall and adding a beam to support the staircase. Kathy and I both enjoyed Wesley and his work ethics. Always on time and finished the project on budget.

Working with Wes started out great was very responsive and communicative he gave us a quote which was reasonable but the work was awful when he mudded our seams I’m assuming he didn’t sand them down because you can visibly see every seam through the house he applied a texture to our walls which wasn’t requested but we wouldn’t have minded if it was done correctly but we are left with a thick blobby texture on our walls it’s very inconsistent and it looks terrible after working in our house for a week straight he left our house a completed wreck dust and mudding everywhere and every room has over spray on the ceilings I wouldn’t recommend Wes to anyone we will end up paying twice as much money as we were quoted to cover up the work done

Wes did a phenomenal job in remodeling several rooms in our home. His work included gutting and removal of inferior materials in two bathrooms, living room, and laundry room. He installed an exterior door in a brick wall and replaced plumbing in it’s entirety from the water heater throughout the house. He also proved to be very skilled in his landscaping. I’d be hard pressed to think of anyone I have employed that was a harder worker. I would not hesitate to recommend him and intend to use him again in the future. I would be neglectful if I did not mention the excellent experience I had in dealing with his staff. Rachel was incredibly helpful in detailing all billing and expenses. I appreciate her professionalism. In short, Over the Moon Construction is an excellent choice for a wide variety of skilled needs.
