Rutherford Heating and Air serviced my unit. They were contacted by Home Depot. They found a control board was fried because it was placed directly in the path of condensation leakage. So they installed it wrong. I find that now this company no longer has a rating from the BBB because they received three bad ratings. I will never use this company again and recommend that no one else does. Just because Home Depot backs these installations doesn't prove much. They are polite and try to help as long as they don't take any responsibility for lining you up with a bad installer.
Description of Work: I purchased a York Heating/AC unit from Carolina Climate Services in July 2010. It was supposed to have a 5yr labor and 10 yr parts. This was done through Home Depot. When I called for service on Oct 29, 2012, Paul the owner answered and said he'd call back after lunch to schedule an appointment after he scheduled calls for the morning. He never returned my call. He never returned Home Depot's calls. After contacting both Home Depot and York I found there was no warranty on labor. I left messages multiple times for several days, no answer. All messages were polite, I just wanted my unit fixed.

About a year after I bought the system, the pump that pumps out the excess water started making a horrible noise because it was worn out from having to pump the water too far. I even warned them about this potential problem when they put the system in. They would not fix it under my service contract because they said it was not covered by the manufacturer. I thought it was ridiculous. Also, when I was changing the filter, I poked a screw in accidentally and it wouldn't seat on the switch. I called that day and I had seen one of their vans down the street from me, but the person I spoke with said they would have to come the next day. When the guy came he was here for not even ten minutes, used my tools to fix it rather than his own, and I was charged $75 for the service call because it was a bank holiday. At that point, I decided that I wasn't going to use them anymore.
Description of Work: I bought a new heating system and service agreement.

Description of Work: ometime around the first of dec. I called to get an estimate to replace our gaspack and duckwork if needed. The owner, Paul Hanvey came out to look at existing situation. On this day he told us we he would have to get permit since we lived in the city. We already knew this and was glad the work would be inspected. He also added that the inspector would make him upgrade our duckwork if he touched it since the existing was older.I called the building codes office and found out this was not true. Then he said he would sent our estimate via email later that day or bring it by next morning. Neither happened. We did eventually get the estimate via email a few days later. I had some questions and so I emailed him back. I also called his office and left messages. He finally responded on the 12th of dec. via email and said he was out of town and would get back to us on the 14th of dec. That was the last we heard from him even though I called many, many times. Finally, the second week of january, someone else called. He said he had no idea why the owner had not returned any of my calls. The way he talked made me leery and I told him so. I also told him I was going to call BBB. I did call BBB and was informed they had enough complaints that they were given a "F" rating. Now I haven't spoken to anyone from Carolina Climate since. I will be looking for another place to do business.

He was in and out quickly, was very professional, and made some recommendations that we may follow up on.
Description of Work: They had to replace a capacitor in our large heating system. Our smaller heating system upstairs needed freon.

As best I remember the details, I requested an appointment with Home Depot Home Services for the estimate. A number of days passed before I was contacted by Carolina Climate Service. The technician who came to do the estimate said he would e-mail the estimate after talking to his boss and didn't. I called back and was told he needed to bring the boss out to see the system and I said fine. He did not get back to me so I called again he said the boss could not come but asked him to proceed with the quote. After waiting a couple of days for the quote to be e-mailed I called again. He said that as we spoke he was working up my quote and would send it to me. He also said he still needed to bring his boss on Monday. I said OK but call me before ten O'clock so I would know. Again he failed to call. They were non-responsive to my need to get a quote for a new AC/Heating system. They made multiple promises that were unfulfilled and failed to meet deadlines. It became apparent to me that an outfit that unreliable up front would not be someone I could trust to install the system and service the warranty in the future.
