I thought Mark was highly professional and did a wonderful job. He was on time (early, actually) and very thorough in his explanation of how he was going to trim the trees and why he was doing things the way he was. I felt that he cared about my trees and their health. Rather than just hacking away the branches to get the job done, I noticed that he stood back and assessed the trees before making EACH CUT just to be sure that he wasn't cutting at the wrong angle or making the tree look off balance. He was a lovely person to work with, and I appreciate the time and care with which he approaches his job. Mark told me that he sees himself as a farmer first, which tells me that he really understands the growth of plants and how to care for them. He's not just in it for the cash, and that was very apparent to me. I highly recommend him, and he will remain at the top of my list the next time I need to have this kind of yard work done!

I called Mark on a Tuesday and he was in transit so he said he would call me back that afternoon. I spoke with him that evening because he doesn't want to talk on the phone while at another job so he makes his calls after hours. We scheduled the meet at the lot for 11 am Friday. I had asked for a quote and he said he would be ready to go that day. I was apprehensive because I only wanted a quote at that time because I had other companies lined up before to give me quotes and I was going to compare, decide and schedule. He said no one ever turned him down and he always gave the best price with quality work. Well, he was right. He didn't ask about any other quotes or companies and he came in at the best price so we proceeded with the work. We went over all the details and he said it would be a two day job and that he would do most today and come back tomorrow with a helper for the bigger stuff. He wouldn't accept payment until the job was complete for each day. I paid him $150 for day one and $200 for day two. After everything was done that I asked and he was already paid, he kept on picking things up. I think he was having fun. It looks like he really likes what he does and can spend all day at it. Mark was very professional, polite and easy to work with. He takes pride in his work and wants to complete the job to perfection. I would absolutely recommend him.

He was very professional and explained what he was doing and why he needed to trim the branches the way he did it. After completion he cleaned up the areas where he was working. He also gave me tips on how to get rid of old shrubs that are in the yard.

I had an excellent experience from start to finish. I called Mark on a Friday afternoon and he scheduled time for the following Monday to remove a Bradford Pear tree that was planted to close to the house and was split to the base of the trunk. Mark arrived on time, discussed the specifics of the job, and got right to work. I don't usually watch people work, but I couldn't help but watch Mark as he methodically dropped the limbs of the tree. The tree was planted about 8 feet from the house and 3 feet from two separate sections of fence. I'm not kidding when I say that it was like he was playing a game of chess with this tree, and he won in convincing fashion. Once the limbs were down, he cut them into manageable lengths. I would trust Mark with all of my tree needs.

Mark arrived on time and was quick to task. He did and excellent job trimming the numerous trees in our yard and made sure that everything was cleaned up afterwards. He was quick and efficient. Even when his saw failed, he quickly pulled out a back up saw and went right back to work. Meanwhile a neighbor had a different tree service trimming the same types of trees-however less number of trees. Their provider was still there a few hours after Mark left. The other service even asked Mark to help them trim a very tall palm tree that they apparently were afraid to work on. Mark took care of that after finishing our work. Needless to say the neighbor plans to use Mark next spring, as does another neighbor.

Mark is excellent at his trade. He did an outstanding job with 2 trees that needed work. I was impressed with his desire to do a great job.

I called Mark and told him that I have a small yard with a lot of small branches and leaves that I wanted removed. Also told him I had a very small tree that I wanted removed, and not much grass but it was overgrown. He arrived at my house an hour and a half late, but he did call to say he was running behind. He looked at my yard, which is tiny – the entire lot is only 0.18 acres. He said he would do it for $200. He asked if I wanted the debris hauled away or placed at the roadside and I told him to put it at the roadside. He worked for 4 hours that day from 11:30 to 3:30, but did not remove the leaves. He said for $300 he would come back the next day and remove the leaves. I thought he meant $300 total for the entire job and I was irritated that it was going to cost me an additional $100 to get the leaves up. I thought it was too much. But looking for someone else would be too time-consuming so I agreed to let him do it. He came back at 10:30 the next day and raked the leaves. During that time I did see him leave my property to haul the leaves instead of bagging them and putting them at the roadside. And I believe he said he had to make 3 trips. When I asked why he didn’t put them at the roadside as I requested, he said it would have been too many bags and he didn’t want to clutter my yard with so many bags of leaves. He stopped working at 3:30 that day and said he would come back the next day to finish. But when he realized I had only given him a total of $300, he called and left a voicemail stating that the price for the leaves was an additional $300, not $100. I was shocked and upset to hear his message. I had never intended to spend $500 for yard work. (He said this price was a discount.) But it was my mistake, and since I couldn’t undo what he had done I called him to come back to get the rest of his payment and finish the job. It only took him about 1 more hour to finish. Mark asked me to post a good review and I said I would. He did do a meticulous job and I give him an “A” for the quality of his work. He raked instead of blowing the leaves, which I understand is better for the lawn and the environment. He also said “I don’t gouge people.” Sorry Mark, but I do feel gouged. My first mistake was not doing the math when I read other reviews. I don’t understand why so many people here think that $50 to $100 per hour is a good price for yard work. The average pay for a ground maintenance man (according to the US Bureau of Statistics) is approximately $12 per hour. A landscape architect with a college degree makes about $30 per hour. Yes, my yard was overgrown and there were a lot of leaves. But, the bottom line is he did a total of 10 hours of work, including 3 trips of hauling. That comes to $50/hr. He did accept my 10% off coupon from Angie’s List.

We called him on Monday and was presently surprised when he called later in the day to schedule our appointment. He said during the call that he would give us a price estimate and would have time to do the job, if we desired. He arrived within 15 minutes of the scheduled time and lived up to his commitment. Within minutes it was obvious that he knew his business and gave us insight about the plants included in the yard of our recently purchase of our home. He locked in our business when he looked at a line of thorney bushes that my husbands HATES and said we should get rid of these bushes! Myhusband has yet to pass those bushes without making that statement, but other landscapers have not been excited to tackle that problem! We moved to Charleston from another area, thus his consultation helped us to think about the immediate and future requirements. BTW, he provided the requested service well within an acceptable time frame and much earlier than we originally anticipated. We plan to have Mark Wenningback come back on a regular schedule to have him follow through on his recommendations yard. He also gave us suggestions for plants that we can consider given the location and objectives that we have for our yard. He also gave us recommendations to discourage snakes from hanging out near our bushes! His price was very fair and more in line with our expedtations that other landscapers. We are impressed and very happy with the service he provided!

I purchased the Big Deal for Tree Service. Mr. Wenninger arrived on time and was very helpful in pointing out what was and was not needed on my property. He worked quickly and efficiently and I would have no problem using him again for tree services.

This guy was prompt, punctual, and did an great job.

Did a great job. Cut everything into four foot sections and carried to the street. Worked out gtrat for the trash pickup is in the morning..Cleaned up after he was through cutting. Very pleased with his work. I could tell he took pride in his work and he wanted me to be happy with the job he did.

Mark did an excellent job for us!! Communication from him was outstanding. Highly recommended.

He continued to miss 3 appointments and had excuses as to why he missed each one, and at this point I don’t have any more time to dedicate to waiting on him.

Mark was punctual, polite, and pleasant. He skillfully trimmed branches on my live oak. I had hoped he could grind some stumps and cut down a pine tree, however, he was unable to do this. Perhaps I misunderstood the scope of service, but I feel that I overpaid for what I received.

Came on time, got right to work, cleaned everything up. Looked great!

Communication was very good. Called to give me update on his arrival time, (late because of rain, so slowed him down). Safety first. Trimmed limbs & hauled them to the street for pickup.

The trim work went very well. He was delayed but called to tell me. We agreed all work in advance for the price that was agreed. He pointed out other issues we have with paint pealing. All the trimmed branches were gathered and placed on the curb. This was also agreed in advance but the rate he quoted to take away the branches was $200 which I thought was too high so I will Hope that my service picks them up on yard day. If not I will have a big job to do. This should be part of a tree trim service. So check in advance if that is your expectation. Otherwise I got what I paid for.

Mark arrived on time as and we inspected what trees need to be trimmed. Our roof has a very steep pitch. He was able to manipulate safely and in and out in about an hour. Mark charged $300 for the his service. I got quotes for $1,250, $850, and $600 for the same service. I will always use Mark in the future.

The company called to set up an appointment time. After speaking with the company about the job, he said the tree that I had was too big and he would not be able to perform the work, which caused me to have to request a refund for the Big Deal.

Mark came within 15 minutes of designated time and called the day prior to coming. I have used so many yard/landscape people through the years and I must say his service and work ethic was remarkable. I reviewed with him what I needed done and he got right to work. Price was much more reasonable than most and work was superior. In addition he gave me some useful advice about some trees that I thought needed trimming. Even though he would have received more money he told me they did not need it! Talk about honest!! How refreshing. I will definitely use Mark Wenninger in the future!
