ServiceMaster of Mid-Carolina

Miserable experience dealing with ServiceMaster Mid Carolina (5816 Shakespeare Road Columbia, SC 29223) Namely 1-False advertising on the website and 2- no customer service. I am currently serving overseas on a one year military assignment but have been given orders to return back to the US this week and subsequently move my family to Oklahoma immediately thereafter. I am searching for companies that can clean all floors in my 2,818 sq foot house (about 1500sf of carpet cleaning, 250 sf of tile and grout cleaning and 1000sf of hardwood floor cleaning) before we rent our house out. I initially contacted on Mid Carolina Service Master on 29 May to get quote for cleaning all these floors. It is a big job that most companies would love to have. All my phone calls went to an answering service; it was almost impossible to actually get a human on the phone at this location. Since I am overseas it is impossible to simply leave a phone number and have somebody return my call at THEIR convenience. When I finally got an answering service attendant to answer my calls he informed me that the franchise does not clean tile or hardwoods even thought website explicitly states they do. However he didn't seem confident in what he was saying ...also stated they couldn't help me or get me in touch with someone at the actual franchise location. I checked the website again and made a second try to get a hold of someone at the franchise on Friday 2 June - this time the answering service stated they DID do tile and hardwoods but that an employee would have to call me back. Because I am overseas we agreed that was impractical so I gave them my email address and asked to please reach out that day. There was no response for 3 DAYS. I called back on Monday 5 June - repeated same story. Finally got an email reply on 6 June from the owner of a different franchise stating he had been contacted by the owner of the Mid Carolina Franchise location Ms. Betty Evans. We exchanged emails about the job, my address, etc seeking a price quote. On 7 June received an email saying that he was sorry but my house is out of their service area and that Service Master could not complete the job; no other explanation given. Exchanged a few emails / phone calls back and forth; no satisfactory explanation was given. The Mid Carolina, SC franchise could not try harder to run business away, I am completely disappointed in our first experience this company. The Mid Carolina franchise needs to remove "tile" and "hardwood floor cleaning" from the list of services they provide on your corporate website if they do not perform them. This entire experience has been a complete waste of my time. I will avoid this company in the future and encourage as many of our friends as possible to avoid it as well.

We had pet damage to some wool Persian rugs and wanted them cleaned. They did come to the house, collect the rugs, clean them at their location and return the rugs in their price. The service was limited to really just a steam cleaner on the rugs and not the full bath that might be done by a Persian Rug specialist but the cost was much more reasonable. The pet odor was better but remained after the cleaning but has now gone away on its own. I knew it might not work completely but it was worth the try. These are not very fine rugs and even the Persian rug specialist couldn't guarantee total odor removal so I couldn't see spending 3 times the price of a steam cleaning. For a reasonable fee they also would pickup and return the rugs so I was overall pleased with the value of a service because I couldn't have even done it at home without a garage to perform the cleaning and allow it to dry without damaging hardwood floors.

Went well. ServiceMaster technician cleaned carpet to remove smell, and then dried it over 2 days.

They have good service, and they have good people. They have trained technicians.

They were very good. They have very prompt service and were very courteous.
