Our original agent was friendly enough. She did not want to work weekends to show houses, which were the only times my husband had free from work. One contract and earnest money was submitted on a house only to have someone go in the next day and outbid us. We found a second home under construction and brought the agent in to help negotiate the contract. After a month of seeing the home with an inch of standing water on every floor, the builder not taking any corrective action, then having the builder lie about products they were using and installation procedures we met to cancel the contract. I asked the Realtor to make sure we got our money back, 10% of the cost of the home. Her response was that we would have to "eat that money". She had no intention of even asking for our money back. The builder gave us our money back after we expressed our dissatisfaction. After this time was of the essence to find a home. I found a listing on Zillow.com, had my husband go to their open house, as we were living several states apart at this point. He liked it so we again called the Realtor in to work the contract. She came on and began to argue that the asking price was just fine. This price was $20,000 higher then what the sellers paid 9 months earlier, with no improvements to the house. When I disagreed about how much value the existing plants in the backyard added, I was met with deep attitude as she snapped that she wasn't going to argue and she KNEW what she was talking about. She never did a cost analysis on the homes in that neighborhood nor could she answer my question about average number of days on the market. About 5 days later my husband told her she had been rude and owed me an apology. She eventually called and reluctantly apologized. I accepted and said I needed to be able to communicate with her without the attitude. She then decided she would just quit. We were transferred to the broker to finish the contract on that house. She has been a better business person, but was unable to assist us in finding inspectors or closing attorneys. Which is why we joined Angie's List. We are now 1week from closing, all Realtors are on vacation, as are sellers. None of the items on the inspectors list have been signed off or fixed. The sellers have agreed to fix all but one. As I again went to Angie's List to find a contractor for an estimate on this item yesterday, I get an email from the company CEO saying we can essentially take the deal or leave it, but no one is going to do anything. Being unfamiliar with who this man, Ron Roe, was I called him to see if the threatening tone in his email was intentional. He was extremely rude, talked over me the whole time, and due to the previous realtor bad mouthing us said he knew all about us. I asked if this was their normal practice to be so rude to a client the first time he ever makes contact. He quipped that I was the rude one. At this point I would rather start over with someone else than go to closing with a company that is clearly not representing our interests. This company does not know what they are talking about. They supplied incorrect or insufficient information at every turn of this process. We are a military family that has had to move often over the years, and have never experienced this level of incompetence and down right rudeness from any company.
