From start to finish, Mount Valley was professional and the best. The estimate was for eight piers to hold up our sagging house. The installation crew gave us seven piers, so the cost was less than the estimate, always a pleasant surprise. Four of the piers were installed from the crawl space, three required taking up part of the deck outside the house and digging to get to original grade. The dirt removed was placed on plastic. When the job was done, the dirt was replaced, the boards of the deck were put back down where they belonged, the deck was hosed off, and when the crew left, we would not have known they had been there except that now we can open doors and windows that had been sticking for years. And the cracks in the brick facing of the house have completely closed. So it's better than new. We were very pleased.
Description of Work: Mount Valley gave us an estimate for putting piers under the house, then a week later a foundation crew came out and installed the piers.

They actually haven't done the job yet. They quoted me probably around $12000. I got them out and they did a complete assessment under the house and inside the house. They then did the diagram and gave me a quote based on what they found.
Description of Work: Mount Valley Foundation Repair Specialists did an onsite visit and evaluation for foundation repair. They are also installing pillars at different points on the foundation of the house.

Dan was punctual ... professional ... did look the house over. At the first meeting, by the time he left, I was scared we were in for some BIG repairs. But on the 2nd appt, I don't know if it was because my husband was present, or if it was because the laser beam did not show significant leaning or .... if it was because a competitor was still at my house giving me an estimate (the guy was here for over 2 hrs), but Dan's tone was TOTALLY different. My guess is either Dan knew the competitor would out bid him ... or our house was not worth his time .... but not sending us an estimate after 2 appts, speaks VOLUMES!! Needless to say, we will be going with the competitor.
Description of Work: Dan came out 2 different times. the first time he met with me, looking at the cracks in my walls, checking the exterior for cracks and going into my crawl space looking for cracks and other problems and taking pictures. He wanted to come out when my husband was home and when it was darker so he could put a laser level light on the foundation to see if and where it was leaning. After the first appt, I thought from the way he was talking, the house was going to crumble down ... and that we were in for some BIG expensive foundation work. However, at the 2nd appt, his tone was MUCH different. He did put the laser on the foundation and discovered it wasn't that bad. He told me us would work up an estimate the next morning and email it to me. It has been a week ... no estimate.

This contractor refused to come and look at my property.
Description of Work: I called this business looking for someone to inspect my foundation for problems. My house was built five years ago and is labeled a "modular" because it was built inside a climate controlled factory in two parts. It is a strong "stick" house just like as if it were built on the site. It has the same foundation as a site built house and inspected the same way. The house has walls, doors, floors, etc. like any other house. It is NOT a mobile or manufactured home. The word "modular" is taken wrong often. It was put in place by a crane. I have a stand-up attic. The lady I spoke with said that they do not work on "modular" homes. I tried to explain but she would not offer any help and built home really was. He referred me to my "manufacturerer" and I again corrected him saying that I did not have a manufacturer; I had a contractor and a BUILDER, but I wanted to pay someone to do an impartial inspection of my foundation. He would not help me in anyway, though he was polite. He would not discuss my details but only kept stating that he did not work on "modular homes." It needs to be known that modular homes are real stick built houses...not manufactured houses. Maybe 40 years ago that term was used, but no longer. I cannot speak of his work ethics but I wanted to share this information. I contacted another local foundation specialist, and they knew exactly what I had and were able to perform my inspection.

They were honest enough to tell me that I did not need this type of service. The consultation and evaluation was free. I can always appreciate someone being honest and not trying to sell you something you just don't need. I found this company in the phone book. going under the house for a site inspection. Ultimately, I had Imagine Brick come out and replace a total of 9 bricks and re-point the affected mortar. Total cost of $450, a far cry from the $4,700 quoted by Mt. Valley.
Description of Work: Dan from Mtn. Valley came out to my house to give an estimate regarding some cracks in the brick exterior. He took pictures of the exterior cracks, but never went under the crawl space to check for any needed repairs or potential causes of the cracks. Took several days to get an estimate and it was $4,700 to add some additional piers under the house for support and repair of the exterior cracks. I had another, company give an estimate. They went under the house and concluded there were no foundational issues, just settlement over the 23 years since the house was built, which caused the cracks in the bricks. I then had a structural engineer come and do a complete inspection. He agreed that there was no evidence of foundational problems and that in fact, due to the age of the house, the house had indeed settled, which is not uncommon for that age house. He made recommendations about repairing the exterior cracks and/or replacing the cracked bricks. He said there was really no way for anyone to recommend adding additional piers under the house for additional support, without first

I spent around $3000 on that work. It was a positive experience. They were very professional and thorough. They explained why they were recommending certain things and the work crew was very good and professional. They did things quickly and well. I did not have to worry about it. I wrote them a note about how good an experience it was. The representative in my area was great to work with as was the crew chief. It took them 3 days to complete the job. The crew was very professional despite the fact that it was 105 degrees outside! They put piers, which are like jacks, under the bridge for support and they filled in with concrete, large rocks and riprap. They have lifetime warranty on their work.

Everyone was very nice and punctual. The process took about 3 hours and they were very neat. They even pointed up a few mortar joints with the left over mortar--at no charge! It went so quick and easy I was wondering why it was so expensive? But after getting some quotes, it seemed like the going rate. It has been about 6 months now and everything is still looking good.
Description of Work: They installed 4 piers at a cost of $800 each at the corner of the house to close up the crack you see in the pictures and stabilize the corner of the house. The foundation was staying a little wet due to lack of gutters and began to settle.

They do good work for the price. They clean up after themselves which is a must because it is a messy job. It is very labor some and hot because they have to dig down. They are really good and really professional. It can be an expensive project so I'm hoping this is the last time we have to use them. There is a lifetime warranty. If there is a crack anywhere they have put in a tier, they will repair it even a non transferable fee to the next buyer.
Description of Work: We have had them in our home 3 times in 6 years. We tend to get cracks in our foundation. They installed tiers into our foundation on sections of our house such as where the chimney was pulling away or where saw a zig zag crack on our front porch.

The estimate was extremely reasonable. We couldn't have the job done for a few months, but they still honored the initial quote. We thought they would have to remove a shrub by the house that other companies said they would have had to remove, but they did not remove it. They did a great job!
