Description of Work: Stepan Grek's company installed 2 granite bathroom vanity tops. When they left, $8,195.00 of my jewelry was stolen and he denies responsibility for the actions of his workers. Also, Stephan Grek immediately established another granite company at the same address and same phone number. I would not do any business with any company that Stepan Grek is associated with.

Installers were supposed to come in the morning by 9-10 am. I took the day off from work in hopes I could run errands in the afternoon as this was not going to take very long - several hours, but not whole day. By 10 am -no call, no show. I called and receptionist told me that they are still getting things ready and will be there in a little bit. They did not show up until 1:30 pm - a group of 3 young men. They removed old counter top in no time, removed raised bar with no issues to make our bar into just a one level island. So far so good. Then install of the remaining counter top was not going as well. The floors are a bit unleveled in the house and there are large gaps between the granite and the cabinets - enough to stick a finger through. So they shimmed them up. I was told it could be easily fixed by a small shoe molding. Ok.... Then, once they were finished they left super quickly. We didn't even get a chance to do a full walk through as they were saying they were late for another install, this is right around 6 pm. Once they left I noticed a line at the sink. Well, they cracked the granite and used a WRONG colored filler to join it back together. Its peach colored, and there is NO peach in the granite - granite was white/tan/brown/black. Tan should have been used, but never PEACH. Once they cracked the granite - they should have alerted us and asked if we wanted a new piece - well, they did not do that!! They tried to hide it and be sly about that happening during the install. We immediately called Peter who came out and said he will have to come back and fix. This was in April 2015. We have been calling him ever since, leaving messages, every once in a while he calls back and says he will come on such and such date - 8 months!!!! But has stood us up each and every time! It does not look good, and I am afraid it compromises the granite and its wear/tear since the break is at the corner of the sink. The seam is 1/4" in some areas. I am thoroughly disappointed in his service, his lever of workmanship, and professionalism. DO NOT USE!!!!! If you are looking for quality - this is NOT your guy.
Description of Work: Hired to remove inexpensive man made counter top and install granite counter top in kitchen and kitchen island. Peter Vardi was quick to come out and measure. Gave quote, was very reasonable, and we decided to continue.

Not well at all. Should have realized it would not go well when I was not asked or told where seams would be. He sent two young installers that where on the job only 8 months. First time they installed textured/leathered granite. Mr. Vardi came in the morning to place sink and drill hole for faucet then left. The other two workers placed the granite on cabinets and proceeded to install. I happen to come down after they already placed and epoxied the seam around the sink. I had two seams at the back of the sink. Did not know I was going to have 2 seams that I would see every time I use sink. The seams are wide and the color does not match granite. The granite was set overhanging the farm sink, where it was suppose to have a negative reveal. They place a large gray seam on the back splash. The "L" shape was also pieced together and the pattern runs a different direction. Another large seam. 2 more seams behind slide in stove. I have a total of 5 seams and 1 in my backsplash in a very small kitchen. Mr Vardi came back a few days later when I complained. He said it was a very good install. He took out the wrong color epoxy in 2 of the seams and made them worse. He tried coloring it in with a black sharpie pen. Had a chip on the edge that Mr Vardi tried to fix. Also the wrong color with black sharpie trying to blend color. Comment to me was "you won't even know it is there after a week". After $4000 I know it is there and seams stand out like sore thumb along with the granite on "L" . I paid for 2 slabs that where 56"x 110" each from their distributor. They have not given any money back on the granite that I paid for that is left over. I stopped by to see what was left and was called later to tell me that it was not my slab that was shown to me. With 28 years of experience and great attention paid to customer service. (On web page) don't make a costly mistake like I did.

Marble and Granite Design Inc. installed countertops and a sink. The installed sink fell due to lack of epoxy glue breaking the water line. Under the sink was flooded and the insulation was soaked. The owner , Peter Vardi, came by and looked at the sink and broken water lines and walked out leaving my husband to go to out and buy caps for a temporary fix. A new sink was installed. I also purchased a faucet that was defective and had a broken hose after 5 months of installation again flooding under my sink. Peter brought a defective hose and replaced it in the faucet. The defective hose broke again 4 months later, flooding under my sink for the third time. I called Marble and Granite design and they admitted the hose was defective. I asked for a refund for the European faucet and they refused. I asked to speak to Peter because the office workers were extremely rude and yelling they would not give any refunds. I never heard back from Peter and contacted the Better Business Bureau.

Visited M&GD because of the coupon we received offering $1700 for x number of square feet. We asked if he would offer the coupon even though it had expired and he said he would. (Not sure that really happened.) Selected tile at warehouse and thought it was instock, but later was told it was not in stock. Had to wait longer than expected before installers could come out to begin work. We tore out the countertops in the kitchen and bath in prepartion for M&GD to install granite in kitchen and 2 batchrooms. Two nice young men came out to install the countertops. I agree they were fairly well experienced. I wasn't overly happy with one of the rounded corners, but it wasn't enough to say rip it out. They finished the job in a reasonable time. But one thing I was disappointed about is how care is not taken on those jobs where the homeowner is doing the tear out/reassemble of the faucets, stove, etc. I happened to ask the installers to make sure the jenn-air would drop back in the cutout, and it didn't. Thank goodness or they would have left and we would have to schedule another day. I did think to ask them to make sure my current (relatively new) bath faucets would work with the new countertops/undermount sicks. However, shame on me. I didn't make sure the new single-arm faucet would fit. Unfortunatley my husband went to drop it in and it just wouldn't go. I called the next day, and it was hard to get a date/time pinned down for someone to come out and drill the hole bigger for the kitchen faucet. Finally someone was scheduled to come out, and it got later and later that day but he never showed. I called the owner and expressed my concern and he said the installer got delayed. He never showed up. I called the owner the next day, and there was some other excuse. Actually the owner didn't return my calls at first. It's not until I threatened to write a review or complaint that he finally got someone to commit to coming out on a Saturday morning to drill a bigger hole. This took all of 3 minutes. This dilemma lasted about 2-3 days...we had to do without our kitchen faucet longer than I'd like. Other thing that bothered me is a disconnect between what was discussed one day to the next. I felt like I was constantly having to make sure I was getting what we initially discussed because things just didn't seem to be written down and the owner asked the same questions, like he was somewhat confused or overloaded or ???

Marble and Granite Design installed my granite and tile for the remodeling of my kitchen. The granite did turn out okay; however, things that were discussed during the design phase, were conveniently forgotten when the stone was cut. Once the stone was installed was when it was brought the the company's attention. Due to the fact that it was already installed and it was only a minor flaw, it was left the way it was. The tile is what is so disappointing. When it was first installed it appeared to be perfect. I was very pleased; however, as months went by the grout that was used between the tile and the granite began to break away. I finally called the owner to notify him. The tile supposedly came with a two year warranty. I first left a message explaining the situation. A few weeks went by and did not hear back. I called again and spoke with the owner, Peter. I explained what was going on. He states, "We did the tile, we should fix it." He promised to call me the next day to set up a time to come over. Again, several weeks went by and I never heard from him. I then call back and spoke with the receptionist, and she said she would give him the message to call me. Again, several weeks went by and never heard a thing. I finally call there again for the fourth time. I spoke with the receptionist again, and told her of my experience. She apologized and scheduled a time for Peter, the owner, to come and take a look at the tile. The day that Peter was to come and look at the tile, he called me and apologized that he was running late. Asked me what the problem was with the tile. I explained again, and he actually chuckled into the phone and stated that grout and granite don't really like to be next to each other. I know that I am not the only person that has tile backsplash touching the granite. Why Peter decided to use grout as oppose to caulk or something else, I do not know. Needless to say, Peter never did call me back nor did he ever come by to see the grout lines. I have actually decided that I don't trust him to fix it properly since he knowingly installed it incorrectly. My only hope is to save others from having this frustrating experience.

We checked out several local places and a couple of big box stores. Marble & Granite Design came in at the best price but what really sold us was the delivery time - 1 week from the time they came out and measured as opposed to over 1 month at other places. They called two days before the installation was scheduled and said they could install it a day early. The installation was excellent and the installers too extra care to make sure it was level and fitted properly. I will definitely use them again when it is time to redo the bathrooms
Description of Work: We had about 78 sq ft of granite countertop cut and installed for a kitchen remodel, including an undermount sink.
