Description of Work: Let me get this out of the way first: This company is at the top of my list for professionalism, completion, and attitude. We took advantage of the $135 deal for two movers for two hours. For the same price, we got three movers. This local company rates all A's. We will use them again.

Description of Work: I called Gentlemen Movers based on reviews on Angie's List for a move across the state of NC from one house to another. I had been in contact with Robert, the owner, for a couple weeks beforehand and he was quick to answer or return calls. He even came to pick up a piece of furniture in another town before our actual move. I had stated to Robert that I would have the house packed up minus large mirrors, wall pieces and lamps, which he said they would pack. He based an estimate on my statements, and I was happy to see that he was cheaper than most companies by about $500. I was expecting two 26' trucks to arrive on a Friday to pack and then they would drive to the destination, spend the night, and then unload the following morning. The day before they were to arrive, I called Robert to let him know that I would not have everything packed up as I had hoped, but he said to do as much as I could and we would get it done. He arrived on Friday morning in his pickup truck and one 26' U-Haul truck with two crew members. I asked him where the other truck was and he said he had one reserved in case we needed it. We were moving 5 bedrooms worth of furniture, so we needed it in the first place. The three men began to pack the truck while we continued to pack up belongings. By about 1pm, they had gotten all the furniture they could in the truck, so Robert then went to go get the other truck while leaving his two crew members to help me pack up my china cabinets. He was gone for two hours and returned with a smaller truck (not a 26 foot truck.) When he returned, he asked if my husband or I could drive the truck because he wanted to go ahead and get on the road. At this point, I lost it. I said no, we had two cars to drive and our furniture was not even packed in the second truck yet. He said that the fact we needed him to help us pack boxes put us behind. Well, the crew members helped me pack while he was gone for TWO HOURS to get the other truck - we never held up the actual packing of the trucks. By 6:30, the second truck was fully packed, and we had more things that needed to be moved. Robert then packed our belongings in the back of his pickup truck. I asked him what he was planning on doing with our belongings while he was sleeping, and he said that he would take them into the hotel room with him. They drove off around 7:30pm, and we still had things left at the house that needed to be moved. We are going to have to make another trip across the state to get everything. The following morning, they arrived on time and the unload went smoothly. Everything arrived in one piece and Chance and James (the crew) were awesome from start to finish. The only mishap occurred when they were pulling out to leave and one of the U-Hauls got stuck at the bottom of our driveway for about 45 minutes. We have a nasty gash in our driveway to remind us of our move!

Description of Work: I called and hired them to move my office and house from Lexington to Columbia. They fit 90% of the furniture onto the truck from both, which was amazing. They 3 man crew worked from 9 am until 10PM (including the drive) and they did not stop. They wrapped the furniture in blankets and plastic wrap and loaded everything up.

Description of Work: Ask for Tim, Chance, and Stan, they have obviously worked together and move quickly and efficiently. They arrived on time with a two men and a 26' truck with all the required tools and pads. The job turned out to be bigger than I described and they added a third man. The moved four large rooms of furniture, some up stairs, in just over two hours, transported local and unloaded in two hours, and set up all the beds. They placed the furniture where my wife asked and were very polite. They never slowed or "milked" the clock to make more money. The price was very fair for the volume and weight of furniture moved. I would not hesitate to use them again. Tim acted as foreman. They are well-schooled and saved me a ton of time and taxing my friends to move heavy furniture up and down stairs, at both ends. Good value.

Description of Work: They were supposed to move a bed from above my garage to the bottom of the garage. They moved it. They dropped it into the wall and didn't tell me about it. I went upstairs and showed them the bed and everything. Then I didn't go looking for all the parts. I wanted it in 2 pieces downstairs downstairs in the garage like I asked, paid them and then I left. I didn't notice until I went back to figure out how I was going to arrange it to get it out of the garage. I thought it looked weird, it looked like a part was missing. So I went upstairs and I saw they had cracked the wall board in the wall well and they left some of the parts upstairs. I took pictures and called the owner. They said the wood was weak. I asked if they were professionals or not and said they should have told me. He said that I should have looked and that I didn't know when it happened. I said it happened when they moved the bed because the wall was not intact. He wasn't going to do anything about it. I sent a letter and photos wanting to talk to him and get him to look. It was a small job, and I wasn't worth it for them to do a good job. So I wouldn't recommend them to do anything, if you can't do a small job, do you think I'm going to ask to do a big job? Nope. If I wanted a hole in the wall, I would have just thrown it down the stairs myself. I don't need to call somebody to do that. He said he couldn't do anything about it, so he just wrote me off.

Description of Work: If you are relocating and need movers that are professional and efficient, these guys are for you! Robert came over and gave us an estimate that was very reasonable considering the amount and size of our furniture. He came exactly on time for the estimate and explained to me how the move could be done efficiently and quickly. I thought it would take them much longer to move us, but they have a crew that works extremely well together. They had the house cleared so quickly I was stunned! We have a VERY heavy 52" flat screen TV that my husband and I could barely even budge. ONE of the movers picked it up like it was no big deal and carried it right out to the truck! They were very respectful of our belongings and our pets as well. The move went much, much easier than expected! I don't plan to move again for a long, long time, but if I did, I would definitely use Gentleman Movers again!

Description of Work: Moved our condo, showed up late because they couldn't find us even after they called for directions. Friendly folks but not very organized. Got the move done in a few hours but I feel that it could have been done quicker. Bottomline I feel the price was not equal to service received.
