The office was quick to get us scheduled and the service technician (Chris Tomlin) was very professional and courteous; he pointed out that we needed a new capacitor and after replacing the part (which was an extra $120.00), our A/C seems to be greatly improved. We would be happy to do business again with this company (if needed) in the future.

Justin was punctual, courteous and professional. After completing the job he was even successful in up-selling us to a one year contract for a two visit 100+ inspection and maintenance deal for $175 with a credit for the $39 visit today. Three years ago we bought our house, it was a new construction. I decided that after three southern summers we should have the HVAC check and come to Angie's List to look for recommendations. We saw an offer from EF Martin and decided to take advantage of the deal. Within a couple of hours a representative of the company called to schedule an appointment for the next week. I like to watch all services being performed and the technician was very professional and was happy to explain what he was doing throughout the process. He showed me a potential problem area that didn't require service now, but was something to keep an eye on over time. He was very professional and through. He inspected all of the duct work in the attic and under the house, even looking for signs of ground water issues in the crawl space. I have no problems giving EF Martin for my highest recommendation!

I have high expectations for excellent service, and Andy Coggins with EF Martin met them. I highly recommend EF Martin if you need to replace your HVAC. My house has two gas packs, so when one died (it was very old), I did not have to rush into a decision. I got 5 different quotes, and most of the guys I talked to were very knowledgeable and professional. During these discussions I learned that the supply and return ducts on the new gas packs are backwards from my old unit, which meant I would have to do some major refitting of the ductwork. The old ductwork was old and poorly insulated, so I wanted the replace it, but the estimates were high, plus I had a bad experience 8 years ago when I replaced the ductwork on the other side of the house. Also, with the return duct on the left instead of the right, our deck would be in the way making it impossible to replace the filter or do any major service work. The footprint of the new unit became critical. Mr. Coggins made a couple of trips to my house to measure, inspect, and offer suggestions on how to solve the problem. His first recommendation was for an American Standard, but he offered a couple of other brands with different options. I spent a lot of time on the internet myself researching specs and dimensions, and finally decided on the American Standard. (Perhaps Andy could have been a little more helpful comparing units, but I tend to drive people crazy with questions so I can't be too critical.) Andy quoted a good price for the new HVAC and ductwork, which was 2nd lowest. He earned my trust by demonstrating a willingness to explore alternatives and find the best way to solve a problem. Then... the real fun began. I asked Andy to remove the old unit and ductwork on a Friday so I could inspect the tight crawlspace without all the obstructions. Bad idea. I found all kinds of problems -- foundation, electrical, plumbing, insulation, and mold. I emailed Andy Sunday night and asked him to postpone the installation of the new unit so I could get some other repairs done first. No problem. A couple weeks later, I asked if he could help me with subfloor insulation. No problem, just a small extra charge. (I ended up hiring someone else to replace all my insulation, too.) I had to delay the insulation several times for a total of 8 weeks. Andy was patient and understanding. No worries, he said. Finally, when it was time for the guys to install the new unit, they showed up on time, installed the HVAC and the ductwork in about a day and a half, did an excellent job. They installed a box for the filter so it could be changed from the top, solving the problem with the deck, at no extra charge. While they were at it, they repaired some of the sloppy ductwork on the other side done by another (defunct) company 8 years ago, at no extra charge. Then, Andy came over to the house after hours to meet with my wife and me to show us how to work the programmable thermostat, and to make sure we were satisfied. He made a couple of adjustments, and we were done. I have had quite a few bad experiences with contractors over the years, but my experience with EF Martin was excellent. I highly recommend them. Oh yeah, and, so far, we love the American Standard HVAC too.

After the machine was in my home recording air samples for three days which is required. They sent a professional technician to show me the results of the data. It's really easy to read data and could tell what times of the day my particulates were worse. He explained he needed to open the air handler to see if there were any key signs why it would be showing a lot of particulates. There was a lot of mold and mildew in my air handler which was explained to me well. The technician basically listed the facts. We live in a humid southern climate, put the door on a unit makes it dark inside and these a/c systems are dehumidifies , we making water. I was blown away that we are making this everyday and not knowing it. So he cleaned out for me and installed a phenomenal air to treat the air in my home by putting ions through my duct system and through my home . My house even smells better with this ozone free air purification. Just thankful there is a test procedure and a cure. Recommend highly.

I hired them for a 22 point inspection of my furnace as it seemed to be running intermittently. They came out on time and checked unit, replaced the filter and gave me a good recommendation on fixes for the future, but it was running well at the time of check. Just a week later, the unit went out completely! I called them and they came out the next day to see what was wrong. The technician fixed the "problem" and to ensure it was fixed, came back 30 mins later to check it again. It had turned off again. He then went deeper into the unit and diagnosed the real problem that was causing a safety mechanism to turn off due to dust, dander and pet hair clogging the unit. He spent 3-4 hours cleaning it to perfection. They only charged me a fraction of the price since they had missed the issue the first time and the unit is running perfectly now. The technician was wonderful and refused to stop cleaning until it was perfect, as I have 2 small kids and he said he could not imagine if his little boy were cold because someone had done a half-way job. Thanks again!

Very professional but also very friendly. Listened to my needs, understood I wanted a high quality unit to fight the SC summers that would be energy efficient, and delivered. Came when they said they would, returned my calls & emails, cleaned up, listened to my questions, explained everything at least twice (once for me, again for husband if my explanations got lost in translation), and came out with the factory rep to fine tune. Somehow I ended up with the wrong "brain" for the unit, but they are replacing as quickly as they can. Will be having them put in a bigger exhaust vent and fan for master bath & an additional vent into a sun room in the future.

All around great and knowledgeable staff. As part of their service, a supervisor will inspect the job a few days after install to ensure things are working properly. I will use them again for residential and commercial properties.

E F Martin was one of the companies recommended by my AC repair person (who was in process of retiring). The owner Andy Coggins came out to look at the units and provide a proposal. Both units were very old (1985) and stopped working within a day of each other - compressor on one and Freon leak on the other. They recommended replacement with the same size two, 2 ton (but a higher 14 SEER) units. The weather fortunately was cool, but to get both done in one day, they sent out 2 installers and 2 helpers. They removed the old units, installed the new and picked-up after themselves. There were 3 shorter ducts that had some of the covering removed, and they taped and sealed them without asking. I was playing site inspector (curious what they were doing), and every one was extremely cordial in answering all questions. Follow-up - the day after, the office gave us a call to make sure the units were running properly. Today (4 days after installation), the owner made an appointment to inspect the job, and made sure we understood about sending in the warranty information. They were all very thorough, professional and came recommended. I highly recommend E F Martin

The options presented were not acceptable, and we chose to go a different way.

No issues. Provider was on time, went right to work, and spent time with us discussing the results. Didn't try to sell us anything extra. Very happy with the service provided and would consider EF Martin for future service based upon this experience.

I really, really like them. It was wonderful. They came when they said they were going to come. They got it done really quickly. They were really nice and very professional. They didn’t make a big mess because it was upstairs in my attic.

The service worked out fine. They came and checked everything out and everything went well. The service happened pretty much immediately after I purchased the Big Deal. They were prompt and courteous. They did not do a whole lot, but what they did was fine. With the discount, the price was great.

Information was excellent. Estimates were pricey for us as a retired, fixed income couple. However, company did provide special financing option.

It went fine. They didn't come the first time that the appointment was set. I called the office, and they re scheduled . They came back out and finished the service, but the AprilAire filter he brought was not right size. So he had to come out yet a third time. But they did do a great job! System is running just great!

The technician was on time and gave both systems a though checkup. Both the heating and cooling were working great. He spent time up in the attic even though it was hot outside. He was very courteous and knowledgeable and didn't mind answering my questions. I was very pleased .

Came out and did an HVAC inspection and found a bad indoor coil.

It took the provider 2 days to respond to call and once he arrived, determined that the Capacitor ($100.00 +)and the out door unit fan ($500.00 +) needed replacement. The provider had a capacitor on his truck and indicated that the fan needed to be ordered. I called on 11 Aug to get a status update,no fan. From 6 Aug to 15 Aug I went without AC due to their inability to get the part in a timely matter. They did not have kept me inform of the situation that resulted in me calling in for a status. On 14 Aug I called the office and was told that it was not their fault the part was not in. At that point I cancelled the request and called another provider and they came out the same day and determine that the fan was good and need not replacement. The AC is now operational and the cost of the repairs were $400.00 less than what was quoted.

EF Martin continues to maintain their high standards. I found these guys here on angies list and by the time the deal was done i had 2 new solar BOOSTED heat pumps ! Also added zoning, new return, and a heat recovery unit to provide hot water assist to the tank. Units work great and initial power bills dropped ~50% !!! Keep up the good professional work guys !
