E.F. Martin Mechanical Contractors, Inc. is a full service HVAC company which has been servicing Columbia and surrounding areas since 1976. We specialize in Commercial and Residential Installation, Service and Maintenance. Our services provided include New Construction Homes, Duct Work, Vapor Barrier, Insulation, Indoor Air Quality Testing, Indoor Air Quality Product Installation, service/repair, Installation, as well as maintenance. While we service and maintenance all brands of equipment, E.F. Martin mainly installs American Standard, Carrier or Goodman brand units. E.F. Martin has been an American Standard Customer Care dealer since 2012.

Description of Work: I purchased a service contract. The Angie's list ad did not specify whether the offer was for one unit or multiple. It was advertised as $89. After the purchase I had to purchase an additional contract for the second unit at my home. The service man was on time and took a long time to inspect and clean my units. The service was fine.

After reviewing this review this morning I brought this to the attention of the service technician. This particular service technician doesn't get complaints but he doesn't get numerous calls of compliments daily/weekly. So this did come as a surprise, however we understand we are all humans. After speaking with the technician this morning he was unaware of any issues with this customer. 8/4/14 - 9:35am - I called the member to go over his dissatisfaction areas stated on his review. He says he was dissatisfied because the technician charged the Goodman unit with Freon with out fixing the leak and then the next day the Freon had leaked out so he called someone else to do the repair. The customer felt we should have found the leak first. The customer stated that this is the reason for both of his D grades in this review. It is our procedure that anytime there is an HVAC system that is low on Freon that we recommend a leak search to find the issue and repair it so the leak doesn't keep happening. The written work order for the member states the we recommend a leak search on the Goodman unit because it was low on Freon. I explained that to him. He said yes but you wanted to charge money to do the leak search. Yes, we do charge money to do a leak search on the system to find the leak. The member wasn't satisfied with the cost we charge to do the leak search. So our technician charged the system with Freon so that this customer would have cooling, as per approval of the customer and going against our recommendation of the leak search. The customer did call another company that came out and found a leak in the coil and has replaced it. We could have done the same for the customer if allowed. It is always unfortunate when things like this happen. I did let the customer know we are sorry that he was dissatisfied with these areas of the service and that we do hope that he calls us in the future.

Description of Work: E.F. MARTIN's Tech Chris Brown serviced both our heating and A/C systems. Rather than charge us he suggested a one year service contract for $250. I thought this to be an excellent value and accepted. My experience with E.F. Martin far exceeded thay of my prior vender.
