This company was fairly indifferent to our business back in 2007 when we remodeled an older kitchen and shopped with them for all the necessary new appliances. This included an electric cooktop, combination electric walloven/microwave/warming drawer, refrigerator, and dishwasher. They offered no discount on any of the appliances even tho we were fully equipping a kitchen thru their store. The extended warranties cost approx. $770 of the total bill. The sales people were not particularly well informed or helpful. My real complaint occurred 4 years later however(11/11)when they suddenly went out of business and with them the extended warranty company. Please remember that the warranty company was warranting some items for 7 years which meant that we still had 3 years remaining on these warranties. There was no money returned for the unusable warranties nor could I get any definitive answers from the BBB or the state licensing authority with whom Preferred Service Protection was supposedly registered with the SC Dept. of Insurance. This company also has/had some connection with Wholesale Appliance Company located in Charleston and I was able to get that company to reimburse me for one extended warranty service after being the proverbial squeaky wheel. However, I still have another year+ to go on these warranties and fully realize that there will be no further reimbursements forthcoming. I have lost money in this sham set-up and they definitely should be investigated by the Dept. of Insurance or whoever governs this sort of business. When they collect monies for extended warranties it must be placed in escrow to cover those claims or be reimbursed pro-rata to the consumer buying that coverage. Preferred Service Protection did none of these things.
Description of Work: We bought all of our new kitchen appliances here when remodeling a kitchen 7 years ago. At the time it was the only game in town for certain brand appliances. They also sold extended warranties on those appliances thru a company called Preferred Service Protection which had some connection with Display Center. I don't know whether they self-insured or had some other means of handling claims. The number you called was different but I think they had the same mailing address.

They have a great selection, they deliver the appliance in a timely manner, and they take care of you. We are satisfied from the selection to the drop off. They are very dependable.

When it was installed, it blew the breaker. They had the G-E service man come a week later to repair a switch -- it blew again. He came back a week later and replaced the entire burner (all this on a new stove!) After 3 weeks it was ready to use. I opened the oven and it was dirty. This was a used stove. After several phone calls, the assistant manager admitted that the stove had been in someone else's house. His solution was to refund the money that I had paid for the extended warranty but after 3 months I still haven't gotten the paperwork on this extended warranty.
Description of Work: I bought a G-E drop-in electric range. It was last year's model and clearance priced although I later discovered it was only $30 less than a chain home store.

They really bent over backwards to help us get someone to hook it up for us. They did not charge me for the delivery. Therefore, if I would have gone somewhere else and bought a cheaper model and I would have spent the same amount of money anyways. I love the dishwasher. I can t even hear it; it is so quiet. They were not very pushy at all. He had told me what he had and I did some research before making my own decision. I really do not like to go out and look for things so he actually described what he had, gave me the model number and I went to the Internet to check it out. He did not try to sell me or put me off. It was a great experience.
