Purchased what a thought was my dream home as a first time buyer and it has been a disaster. I’m not sure if it’s a get over on outer towers theme going on but I can say I’m in over my head with debt from this recent purchase. I should’ve known when she tried showing me over priced homes. Please be aware of you are coming from out of town do not use this brokerage find another! My contracts were non existent and realtor acted in her own interest. Repairs that was promised to me made turned into review issues and not repair. The changes that was made to my contract benefited the sellers not me the buyer. Trying to get a lawyer in the south is deplorable so you will have to suck it up with the cost! I’m so disgusted and can’t believe they’re getting away with their unlawful practices.

If you ever want to be sorry you bought a house then use Coldwell Banker in Columbia. They are purely interested in walking away with their commission and leaving you to deal with a nightmare. We were coming from a long distance and had to rely on the realtor to take care of things on our behalf. Since everything was in writing we thought we were safe but apparently no. The home inspection was done by people they hand picked. We doubt a home inspection was even done but we sure paid for one ($650 for home, HVAC and termite). The contracts were not written specifically enough so we did not get what we asked for and because they were not specific enough we did not have recourse for the loopholes that were found by the sellers. We didn't know we had to be lawyers to buy a house but it would have helped because we could not rely on any information that was given to us. Most of it was erroneous, being we were not from this part of the country we were not familiar with how things worked and got completely taken advantage of. But luckily for the realtors and home inspection company we have no affordable recourse because it would cost more to pay a lawyer to go after them for what they did to us then we would recover. The house had over $4,000 in damage which the home inspector did not find. It was Pinpoint Home Inspections and Cool Care for the HVAC by the way - do NOT use either of them. None of the appliances worked when we moved in but we were told they were in perfect working order. The pool did not function and still doesn't even though it was "running perfectly" per the report. The sinks were backed up. Many things that were supposed to stay with the house were removed. We thought we had a home warranty but the home warranty company (which has bad reviews on this site) ACS and Artisan's went out of their way to find every loophole to make sure none of the damage was covered under the warranty so it was worthless and expensive and didn't serve any purpose except to give us a false sense of security. Personally we think the home warranty is a scam because it simply doesn't cover anything and all the reviews on this site say the same thing. Every penny we saved up to go towards furniture was spent on fixing the house so we are now in an empty broken house and we can't even afford to fix all of it or buy something as basic as a kitchen table to eat on. We are beyond angry and disappointed. When we complained we were blown off. We can't say whether any of this was malicious or whether the realtors were simply ignorant of the law/don't know their job or were lazy but either way it was a horrible experience for us. The home inspection people simply did not their job as far as we can see. We can't explain it except to say they either were paid off by the sellers or they were negligent. You name it and it's broken in this place. Try having 4 kids and no way to wash clothes or cook. Three weeks later and we are still trying to get things in order. Wish we never moved.
Description of Work: Helped us buy a seemingly nice house which turned into a nightmare.

Response from COLDWELL BANKER
I hate that you had such a bad experience with your agent. That is not how our company does business, and I hate that so much fell through the cracks for you. I personally have never walked away from my clients, I continue to have a relationship with them long after the closing. Especially with my clients that have moved from out of town, I try to be a source for them for future contacts and services as needed. It sounds like you had a bad experience with one agent, not the company per say. Again, I hate that this happened to you. Mary Dean Realtor Coldwell Banker United.
