I purchased a Rheem unit in May of 2011. There was a problem and the installers could not get the unit started. Someone came out the next day who "replaced TXV on coil, replaced drier on condenser." I wondered if I'd been given a refurbished unit but I was assured that it was new, although I was never given any documents that should have been with the new unit. The installer did not leave it; I asked the tech who did the replacement to bring it and he "forgot." I asked the salesman for it and he "could not find it" but he printed out some generic info on how to care for your A/C which did not mention a manufacturer or specific unit. In July of 2012 the unit was not cooling. I called the office to report this and was told that I should not expect the unit to cool down more than 20 degrees of the exterior temperature --which meant it was okay for my interior temperature to be 80+ if the exterior temperature was 100+. Someone did come out and said the evaporation coil was leaking. When he left, the unit was working. In June of 2013 the unit was not cooling and making a groaning noise right outside my bedroom. Someone came out and said the system was out of refrigerant. When he left, the unit was working. Now here it is June 2014. My unit is not cooling and it's making a groaning noise. I keep my thermostat at 78, but my interior temperature has consistently been 80 to 86 degrees. I am frustrated and angry that I am having to call ARS every time the weather gets warm so they can come and put another bandaid on an A/C unit that is only 3 years old. Is the unit just defective? Are the technicians not experienced or knowledgeable enough to make a proper diagnosis and permanent resolution? Will I have to call ARS every year when the weather gets warm? Once again I will call ARS before I wilt away but I no longer have trust that they will make me happy! I have been extremely unhappy with ARS, Rheem A/C units, and Home Depot who promoted ARS to its customers. I indicated that I would use this provider again but that is only because I want them to get my unit functioning without an annual jumpstart from ARS.

First of all, my mother is elderly and the upsell by this technician was entirely uncalled for. I believe that they should have contacted us and let us know about the install, not leave it to her. That's the only thing I do not like about ARS is the upsell. Other than that, service was done and done correctly. Carroll Clarke

They said that my exterior coil system was hit by lightning and all of the electronics as well as the fan motor were damaged. They wanted about 1800.00 to replace the parts because my waranty would not cover lightning damage. I called another company to get a second opinion. The service man found that a p/c board had failed but all other components were working ok and there was no indication of lightning damage. The part was replaced under warranty and the charge was 175.00 for labor only. This is by far, not the only issue I have had with this Home Depot Endorsed company and I am very upset, angry and exasperated by it all. I will never again allow them into my house. Even if their services were free.

Our HVAC broke in the middle of summer last year. ARS responded to the issue quickly, and they were available after hours. All of the employees were friendly, punctual and professional. They installed a high quality unit at a reasonable price, and they worked with Home Depot credit for no interest financing. It was a great experience overall.

Beware!!! Provider setup appointment but argued that they do not offer free estimates for repairs. Appointment time was set for between 2-5pm. I received a phone call at 6:41pm when their representative informed me that the mention of a free estimate on the Angie's List website was for replacement work only and not for repairs. Therefore, they will not honor my request for a free estimate and will not come to my house unless I paid $90.00 just for the visit. I told the representative that I did not approve of paying for a service that is clearly being advertised as being free and what I did not tell him was that I did not feel comfortable doing business with a company that was a "no show" and called me several hours after we had expected them at our home. They have already cost my family in lost time from work and we got nothing in return. Thanks!!!

Very pleased with work. Prompt, spent a lot of time, answered questions well and very complete. We will stay with ARS through our next heating and A/C unit sometime in the future. Very good about honoring all parts of contract and more. A plus. Having contract gives us first call for emergency service whenever needed.

I was told by the technician that my coils (in air handler were leaking). Because of the price quoted I decided to obtain a second opinion. No leak could be found in any part of coils or compressor. I am hesitant to use them again and will find someone through Angie's List.

Recieved immediate response (within 24 hours) an appointment to discover what ws causing our water pressure to be so low. Very courteous plumber arrived, and found we had a broken regulator valve, and possibly the main water line from street to house was clogged or busted. Hired a second plumber to compare estimates, since we are talking approximately $3000. As it turns out we didn't have a regulator valve beause the house was built in 1972, before the requirement. Honestly? we have used ARS in the past, and continue for other small issues, and after this "up-sale tactic", I hesitate to tust them implicity.

ARS designed and replaced my air conditioning and heating system. The replacement system is much better than what was originally installed when the house was built. The company had to come in a second time with a design change to the "split system" so that both halves operated correctly (they did this expeditiously). I had a conversation with technician that previous technicians had stated that the unit was using Freon in two previous inspections. He performed inspection and stated that "coils" were leaking at the output of the unit. I had a second opinion from another qualified individual and found no such leak at the unit outside or coils inside. Here is how I would deal with any service company in the future. When a problem is stated, ask the technician to "show me." Much of this type of equipment costs money to replace. Always seek a second opinion if the service company you employ to do preventive or corrective maintenance proposes a costly replacement of components.

They were extremely kind and patient with me. i had misplaced the check for the work to be done i told him i would have to cancel having the work done. Well, the ARS rep would have none of that. he knew i was upset and calmed me down; and between the two of us we searched the house to see where i might have put the cashier's check; and found the cashiers check. in the meantime he called and had the workmen come and start the work on replacing the broken heat pump. This was not a pleasant task for these men because it rained intermittently during the day. they also had to do some adjustments to the unit to have it fit outside. We discussed putting in an ionizer unit to help with my allergies. i am a hands on person; and periodically i went back to see what they were doing. they were very patient and informative with my questions. the unit was installed within a day and up and running. Since the installation i have had a few meetings with the reps about installing an ionizer unit for my allergies. they have kept up with the maintenance of the unit since it was installed. they call with reminders for cleaning and checking the unit. I like that they just didnt install it and forget about me. I really have no negative statements about my experience with ARS. They were courteous, the salesman was willing to negotiate the price with me; and the installation was done efficiently and cleanly.

The installation went well. The staff was courteous and prompt.

Changed out bad part and my unit was up and running.

Have used ARS several times over the years, recommend them.

Hvac system wasn't working well. Unit still under warranty. ARS responded promptly & replaced condenser & some other parts per warranty.

They came on time and explained what was going to be done. Asked where I wanted new vents. Helped by explaining were vents should go. Pick up all trash and hauled away the old unit and vents. Asked my opinion when choices were to be made.

ARS came to do my regular maintenance. I have had a contract with them since fall 2008 when they installed a new heating/air gas pack and redid the duct work under my older home. They have done an excellent job and a yearly contract is very reasonable. I will continue to use them and highly recommend them to anyone in need of this type of service.

Just fine , no not really . The young man that did my service was Excellent ! He found a problem that I didn't know I had ! And fixed it !He was as pleasant and friendly as he could be . ARS is very lucky to have an employee like Leonard .

Prompt and courteous personnel. Pleased with their work. Sales rep was professional, knew his product very well, and gave suggestions that were greatly appreciated. Answered all our questions and assured us of customer satisfaction. Very pleased with the whole experience.

They were good and I would recommend them! They were professional, reasonably priced and did a good job.

We did not have a very good experience with them. They were not able to resolve the problem. They said that the piece of equipment needed to be replaced. We had the original system installed two years ago and there was only a two year warranty. We were not told about the two year warranty at the time in was installed. We were not too happy with them and will be using someone else.

They did a great job. They do a good job and are very efficient.

Things are working properly. It was excellent work. They got the unit in quickly and everything has been done to my satisfactoion.

The service turned out great. They got there quick and were able to get the new unit installed.

The came the same day I called. They have late night service calls, which is great for working families like mine. I ended up buying a new unit, but they made arrangements so my house would be comfortable over the weekend. The installation crew made a mistake, but they sent somebody out to fix it immediately. Iwill use them again because they were reasonably priced, accomodating, and professional.
