Home was built with sub-floor issues. They have not been willing to appropriately address those issues, just patching and patching for years. They have admitted the problem, but not willing to resolve.

America's home place has a wonderful selection of plans to choose and customize from. The office staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Prices are very reasonable too. I would grade them an A for the design phase. From there things change for the construction phase. Many of the laborers seem unskilled, or don't care. We had many big problems with all flooring, tiles, sheetrock walls, ceilings, and more. Although they tried to correct what they could it was an unpleasant experience and some things can't be completely corrected. From what I am told their challenges were due to a lower quality workforce that affects all builders. I certainly agree the quality problems are due to the construction teams but not sure if that is an I industry wide problem.

The good: Before we decided on AHP as our builder, I spent countless hours investigating numerous other builders on the Internet, viewing homes under construction and meeting with the builders. My short list of builders who made the cut ended up being Mungo's build on your lot division (which shut down before we made our builder decision and started up again some time later), Schumaker Homes and AHP. In the end AHP won out as I could find no complaints on the local BBB or various Internet sites. At that point in time, Angie's List had no reviews of AHP. AHP made significant changes to a stock home plan they had per our desires and within our budget. They did a fine job of anticipating our needs in the design phase. We found them relatively easy to work with in the beginning and AHP was initially responsive to our needs. They completed the building within budget and we have a beautiful home- inside and outside. Building a new home is not for the faint of heart as there are many decisions that need to be made before and during the process, along with potential problems to deal with. I feel we excelled at these items, did an excellent job supporting the builder, the builder never had to wait on us for any reason and they knew what our expectations where. The not so good: I was in the construction trade years ago. Building a home encompasses many trades, personnel, potential problems with the weather and building lot, along with potential supply problems outside of most local control. Plus the owners need to do their part to ensure their responsibilities are taken care of in a timely manner to keep things moving along smoothly. I get it. Been there, done that. However I see no excuse for us having multiple roofing problems with water leaks, along with water supply line and electrical problems after we have moved in- especially since most of these issues were identified well before we took possession. Most of the issues identified by us were mentioned more than once to the builder previously and we thought they had all been addressed when we took possession and during that inspection. But there is nothing like living in a new home for a few months to identify problems. AHP became slow to respond to our needs and repairing significant items in the warranty period. I have to continually follow up with the builder to try and keep the process moving. I am hopeful all of the issues will be ironed out in the near future but am unsure of this result.
