I originally just wanted one pine tree removed. It had been struck by lightning (so they told me) and since it was very close to the house, I was worried about the pine tree breaking or falling on the house. The tree service owner, Ron Mintz, came out on Thursday afternoon, 30 June, and gave me verbal prices for just taking out the one tree and also taking down all three pine trees. He offered me what I thought was a good price for the three; so, I decided on having all three taken down. The company was able to come the next day, and came the afternoon, 1 July. They had the trees down and site cleaned up in approximaly 2 1/2 hours. The stump grinder came later on the same day and ground down the stumps. The next day the company came back for final cleanup. They left logs by the side of the road and they were picked up on Tuesday after the July 4 holiday by someone else (logging company?). No written estimate was ever received from the company, although I did get a statement showing the agreed upon price. I barely had time to check on their insurance. They had adequate insurance and it was in force. Overall, they did a good, fast job. However, I would have appreciated having more notice of when they were coming out. Also, they should have provided a written estimate. I used this company because of a recommendation from a friend, but otherwise I doubt I would have used them as this company has had some complaints against them in the past. Also, there seems to be two "Affordable Tree Services".

The crew arrived on time and performed most of the agreed upon work. They removed both trees but did not grind the stump in the front yard, as per the oral agreement. The following two weeks after the work was performed, I spoke to a company representative on the phone twice who agreed to mail a detailed receipt of the work performed. Still not receiving the receipt, I left additional detailed messages that were ignored, and my phone calls were not returned. I requested the receipt a total of 4 times, and explained to them that it was very important to receive the receipt. I was disappointed in the poor level of customer service that followed after their visit to my home. In my view, they should have made more of an effort to follow up with us and ensure that we were satisfied with the work performed. I did not appreciate that my request was ignored and that they did not bother to explain the problem in providing a receipt.
Description of Work: This company removed a fallen tree that crushed part of the backyard fence and also removed a standing tree from the front yard. They agreed to remove the tree stump from the front yard, but this part of the agreement was not performed. I gave them a B letter grade because they were responsive to my first phone call to solicit their services and they did arrive at my home on the day and time in which we agreed. While I appreciate this effort and have graded them accordingly for that part of the service, my overall experience was more negative because of the poor customer service afterwards.
