Hard Scapes LLC

We contacted Hardscapes, LLC this spring from a referral from a landscaping company. We had several other companies come out and give us an idea of what to do with our back yard. We have a walk out basement on a hill and the house has French doors that lead out to a small concrete pad. We have a porch and patio on the main level, so part of underneath those was grass, and part was concrete, not attached at all to the other small concrete pad, and since they are on a hill, they were different heights. There are stairs leading to the deck in the middle of the two concrete areas and the stairs could not be moved. As it was, the back yard was completely unusable. Hardscapes came in not as our highest bid, but not the lowest, either. I liked Adam and liked his ideas. Once we decided to move forward, he gave us an approximate start date. He was right-on. In the meantime, I changed my mind on how things were going to look several times. I moved things around, added things, took things out, and basically flipped the whole thing to the opposite side of the stairs. Adam took all in stride - didn't skip a beat, made suggestions and was unbelievably easy to work with. Once the work started, it took exactly 6 days. Instead of being on several levels, as I thought we were stuck with, the whole back is one level, all the weird spots are connected, we've got a fire pit, plenty of room for seating around it, a dining area, paved area under the stairs for storage, and it's all beautiful. Adam and his crew were very professional, neat, clean, efficient, thorough, and meticulous. I would use them again in a heartbeat and recommend them enthusiastically to anyone looking to add some oomph to their yard.

Structurally the installation looks ok though three thin cracks have appeared between pavers and the adjacent concrete. The work was performed during a period of unrelenting rain (approximately April 15 through the 21st) that resulted in a muddy mess of the entire street adjacent to our driveway (the entire original driveway had been removed and asphalt laid). The street was not appropriately cleaned after the work. As a result of the latter, rain after the completion of the work resulted in heavy staining -with dirt- of portions of each of the individual paver sections and the perimeter pavers. I subsequently power washed the street to remove dirt. I also power washed the stained concrete to no avail. I called Mr. Simpson on May 25th and he suggested I go to Lowes or another local business to buy a product and clean it myself. I told him I felt this was his responsibility to do this. He told me that he would drive by and look for himself the following week and would have two men come out and remove the discoloration. When I finally got a response from him 10 days after my original call he told me that he was not responsibile for the stains and offered to remove the stains for $1500! (From the intensity of some of the staining it is almost certain that the damage occurred from rainwater overflowing from the street onto relatively wet concrete [we were away from home during the final few days of the work and for a month thereafter] ). (Our original driveway was concrete and had no red dirt staining over its entire 20 years of existence.) I have shared photos of the driveway with Mr. Simpson and, if desired, will share with others.

From start to finish we couldn't be happier on this, and we are picky customers. Great selection of stone, great construction on drainage, patio, and footing. Beautiful end product and through 6 months over the tough winter the patio looks the same this spring, Adam even swung by to check on it once. Details of the curves in the patio, swapping a few pieces of stone, carving a drain cover out of a piece of travertine... all good. Have had heavy rainstorms since and no issues at all. Great crew that took care of everything during the project. Would definitely recommend them to anyone.

Adam was very quick to respond to my inquiry on Angie's List. We scheduled a date and time for him to come out on a Saturday. It ended up raining that day and I was called an hour before the meeting to cancel. He stated that he wouldn't be working up my way due to the rain and wasn't going to drive all the way up just to meet me (I believe he said he's an hour away). We rescheduled for this past Saturday at the same time but no one ever showed or and I received no call either. I started to call to inquire about the meeting but decided not to and to just go with another company. At the time of the initial cancellation I didn't feel that he really wanted to do business with me.

I called Hard Scapes for an estimate on the installation of a paver patio at my home in Tega Cay. Adam responded promptly and came out to offer design ideas and give me an estimate. His price was very competitive. He told me that it would probably be 30 days before he could start the job in but that if possible he would work me in earlier. As it turned out heavy rains the weekend after I contracted with Hard Scapes to do the job delayed the start of one of their other projects so they went to work on my patio less than a week after I hired them. Adam said they would be at my home at 7:30 am and they were right on time and went to work. His crew of 4 worked hard throughout the day and by 5 pm I had a beautiful new paver patio. The installation was perfect - very little damage to my lawn and the job site thoroughly cleaned up after completion of the work. I was very impressed with Hard Scapes from start to finish. I will most certainly use them again for any outdoor remodeling I may need.

Hard Scapes, LLC was one of several companies I called for quotes on our project. Adam was very quick to respond and his quote fit our budget the best. The previous AL reviews provided an added level of comfort to hire his team for the job. They were able to start our project a couple weeks ahead of our scheduled time which was great for us. Adam brought the brick sample out on a Saturday and discussed the details. His team was there on Tuesday and finished on Wednesday. We are very pleased with the outcome of the project. The walkway and landing are exactly what we wanted and it adds a classic look to our newly added wrap around porch. I will definitely call Adam again for any future projects.

It went great, he started at 8 am sharp . It took him one day and one morning to complete the work. He was very professional , easy to work with and very helpful from our first contact with him and always, always got back to us either by phone call, email or text. Thank you Adam for a job well done.

Fantastic job by Adam and his crew. The work was done in a professional fashion and the quality of the work was top notch. The work was completed in three days. My wife and I are very happy with our new outdoor space.

Very pleased with the results. Adam came out promptly after contacting him, understood what we were looking for and provided a prompt estimate. Once the HOA had signed off on the plans, they were out to start the project in just over a week. His crew was very professional, worked hard and did a great job. They keep the worksite neat cleaning up at the end of each day. I would certainly use them again for any further hardscaping needs!

Our project was initially held up by weather but Adam and his crew were very professional and clear about the need for dry conditions to be able to put in a good quality patio. He even apologized even though he has no control over the weather! Once they started they worked straight through the weekend to get our job completed. I am super impressed by these guys. The attention to detail is outstanding and Adam made great suggestions on dimensions and design which we had not considered. Our patio and fireplace are gorgeous and we are very happy with the outcome. Once they were done they spread pine bark (we had the choice of grass seed or pine bark) all over to protect the soil around the patio from rain until we can get some landscaping done. We don't really get much sun back there so the seed would have been wasted. They even power washed our driveway so it looks like they were never there. The start of the project was delayed due to weather and Adam kept us informed via email. We had to leave town due to a family issue and they finished the work while we were gone.

Adam and his crew are true professionals, excellent workers and great craftsmen. From the first meeting, Adam did everything he said he would do, when he said he would do it. The proposal was clear and complete - exactly what we had discussed. Adam was cordial and responsive to questions and alternatives. When we decided we wanted to look at other options for the stone, Adam met us at the stone yard on a Saturday to make sure we got the color and aesthetic that we wanted. The men arrived on time every morning and went straight to work. They were courteous, friendly and efficient throughout the work and cleaned up the site every day before they left. One of the machines broke down one day, which would have ended the work for most contractors, but the men kept working productively and Adam arrived with a replacement in short order. From start to finish, an exceptional experience. The new walls are absolutely beautiful and have already drawn compliments from several of our neighbors. We highly recommend Hard Scapes LLC!

Adam and his team are amazing! After interviewing 10 different well-rated companies (found on Angie's list) and getting 9 quotes, Adam was by far the best out there. Punctual, easy to work with and accomodating throughout the whole process. He quickly understood the drainage issues we were dealing with and came up with a combination of solutions that made both husband and wife happy (husband wanted french drain, and wife wanted a planter). He and his team arrived every morning at 7AM and finished the job in the time quoted (1 week). His team works together like a well-oiled machine. You can tell these guys have been working together for a long time and they all know exactly what they are doing, and it's also clear they like working for Adam. I would highly recommend Adam and team to anyone looking for quality work for a fair price. I will be hiring him again when we do the driveway.

I contacted HardScapes to provide a bid to extend the patio in my back courtyard. I counted on the recommendation from Angie's List to ensure a reputable, professional provider. The technician came out, spent about 15 minutes in my courtyard, then left by the back entry without another word to me. I have heard nothing since, and that was 3 weeks ago. I have no problem with a vendor choosing not to bid on a job, but I DO expect to be treated in a courteous, respectful manner. At a minimum, I would expect a call back to say they have chosen not to bid or whatever the circumstances dictate.

I was very impressed with his offer but decided to go with a company that could do the pool interior as well as the concrete. If I had only needed concrete I would have used Hardscapes.

Went great! They did everything they said they would do...very satisfied! Would recommend and use again in a heartbeat!

It was fabulous. They are very good. They came out, made suggestions on design, gave me a quote and built it very efficiently and that was what I paid. They even suggested some drainage improvements and that's been amazing.

The owner was very punctual and professional. His design was unique as it had to incorporate the raised vegetable bed and existing fence. He was very responsive to my questions both by phone and email. Finally, his crew left the work area in just the same condition as before the job, grading the area, replanting some grasses and sweeping the driveway. Very impressed. Would hire again in a heart beat.

We had several bids for various patio and wall work. Adam worked with us and was able to help design a project within our budget and provided the most amount of completed work for the dollar. We have a large house on a steep narrow lot with no access from adjoining properties. The crew was very courteous to us and our neighbors kept the street clear and clean for traffic. 2 large front pavestone retaining walls break up the extreme slope, added matching brick to the walls along our driveway which are now ready for trees and plant material. The rear pavestone Eco-stone patio was installed by raising the grade tying into our existing stone steps. All rear work was done by hand, by wheel barrow carrying the materials down the steep path along the house. We met Adam and the crew on the first work day, went out of town for the week and returned to a fabulous looking home. We highly recommend Adam and Hardscapes to everyone who want the best.

Workers arrived by 7:15am, took a one hour lunch, worked until dinnertime. Very professional hard-working crew. Cleaned up property daily and at end of project. The retaining wall looks great and is a big asset to our home value. Working with Adam was very professional and easy and his pricing was fair. We are very satisfied with the job and would highly recommend him to others. Working with Adam and his crew has restored our faith in contractors.

Hard Scapes was delayed almost 6 weeks from the original start date due to several weeks of heavy rains. Revised start date and arrived on schedule. Used the same crew throughout the entire 12 day project, working 6 days/week. Each day, the site was cleaned and made usable until their return the next morning. Almost no damage was done to yard or irrigation system and, once the job was completed, new soil was spread where construstion had damaged grass. Unquestionably, this work was performed superbly. Each step was carefully prepared and executed. Drainage was added and buried under the new pavers that ran 50 feet through plantings. I went to look at how they had buried the drain immediately after it was completed and could not see any evidence of the work. Soil was replaced, no plantings were damaged and the site looks untouched. The drive is now a neighborhood entertainment. At least 3 people walking by comment positively on the work every day. Two have already asked who did the work. My experience with contractor's work is that it varies from poor to acceptable. Adam Simpson at Hard Scapes never promised anything he couldn't deliver, completed the job on schedule and delivered very high quality results. His workmen were neat, polite and considerate, tyhe hardest working crew I have ever seen. I can't recommend them highly enough.

The interaction went well but I didn't use them for any work. The initial conversation over the phone was great. Adam, the owner, was very nice and personable over the phone. He came out quickly to give me an estimate. He was very thorough and amiable during the estimate. He went over all possible scenarios and was timely as far as getting back to me with a final number. Unfortunately I decided to go a different route as far as the whole plan. If I would have done the initial plan for my residence, I would have gone with him. I would definitely consider him for any work in the future. He was great. I didn't use another contractor. I just decided to do a different idea with the project. The price was a little higher than what I wanted to spend at the time. He was very timely.

Adam and his crew are phenomenal. I had several people come out and quote on the project. He was the only one that showed concern about the two drains emptying directly onto the walkway. He also quickly pointed out areas where we had drainage issues (we did and I didn't mention it to him). I explained that we wanted to do several projects but that we would need to do them over time as we had the money. He was the only one that seemed not to scoff at this notion. He was also the only one that understood we didn't want super expensive pavers. The only issue we had is that the weather but him behind and he has so much business it took a while to actually have the work done. But it was well worth the wait! I was going to be out of town so my husband handled the two days of work. Adam's crew showed up early both mornings and did an imaculate job. We are extremely pleased and with the recent heavy rains the grading was quickly put to the test and we've had no issues!

The guy did a great job. I like the quality of his work. Everybody complimented on the work he did for me. His price is worth it.
