I got 2 quotes. Steve was the higher quote, but was recommended by a co-worker so I went with him. He did a decent job on the pressure washing part. The painting was terrible. He didn't do any prep work. No scraping or sanding. No removal of peeling old paint. No priming of exposed wood. No attempt to repair the old glazing of my windows which was the agreement. Then I noticed that the paint being used was the least expensive offered at Sherwin Williams, whereas I was led to believe it would be premium paint. Then I noticed the paint was being cut with water to the point that it was no longer the desired color. When confronted, Steve was very defensive and said "fire me if you want to.". Of course I had already paid him half the money so I let him finish. Needless to say, I was thoroughly disappointed with the whole experience and wish I had used the other painter.
Description of Work: I needed my house pressure washed. Also needed windows, trim, and shutters painted.

I used this company for interior painting because I purchased a Groupon for it. Overall, I feel like I got what I paid for (not in a positive way). I purchased 2 Groupons, one for painting of 3 rooms, and 1 for painting of 1 room. Before I purchased the groupon, I called and spoke to the owner (the same guy who came to do the work), and asked if the stipulation of a 12x12 room would apply to a hallway that was longer than 12 feet but only 3 feet wide. He told me it would be ok. When he got here, he said the hallway would be like 2 rooms. The groupon also said that there would be an extra charge for anyone more than 30 miles outside of Greenville. He apparently started in Mauldin which is about 35 miles from here. He then claimed I was outside the 30 miles when I am only maybe 15 miles outside (north of) Greenville city limits, just farther from Mauldin which is on the far south side of Greenville. I am 8 months pregnant and just wanted the painting done so I agreed to the $50 extra for the "extra" distance and "extra" hallway. He also added $20 to go over a pink stripe (had been under a wallpaper border) twice so that it would be covered. The groupon stipulated that it would include wall prep. It did not. I was running around in front of him patching small nail holes and then he painted over some that were wet and had not been sanded yet. He told me not to worry about taking the switchplates off. I assumed that meant he would do it. Nope! He painted around them in the first room, so I then went around to the other rooms and took them off so that he would actually paint properly. The groupon stipulated that it was for 1 coat of paint. That was fine. One room was getting the exact same color (the one with the stripe, which turned out ok), 2 rooms were going from white to a cream (BARELY off white) and a very pale yellow. The last room was significatly changing colors so I expected to have to do some touch up in there. One CAREFUL coat would have done just fine in the cream and yellow rooms, but he just slapped it on there and it looks terrible! I can see roller marks (lines), spots he missed completely, and significant brush strokes on the edges. He completed 4 rooms in about 6 hours if that gives you any idea of how fast he went. Finally he repeatedly called me sweetie and sweetheart and when he asked me to point out places he missed in the first room (didn't ask for the others and didn't fix all the ones in the first room), said "good girl" 6 or 8 times like he was talking to a dog. Like I said, I got what I paid for I guess but I had purchased another groupon for a rental property and called groupon for (and received) a refund as I will not be using him again.
Description of Work: I had 4 rooms of my house painted. Just the walls, no ceiling or trim.
