Response from Two Men And A Truck - Charleston
Hi, we have your name in our system because you needed an estimate, but you did not book a move with our company, therefore this review is inaccurate and must have been intended for another moving company. We are sorry you experienced this poor service, but it was not with Two Men And A Truck.

I hired this company to help move and clear out an estate home. They arrived promptly, never took a break, they filled two trucks and they moved everything into 7 storage units. They wrapped all the furniture items in paper furniture pads and shrink wrap, everything will be protected while in storage. I hired them again on the 5th to finish getting the rest moved. Extremely helpful, pleasant, polite. There was a lot of heavy piece and antiques. Everything handled very well. These crews were great ! Way way better than an experience I had with another company.

I don't particularly care to pay extra for large items when I'm paying people on an hourly basis in the first place. That's why I'm paying them instead of doing it myself. I'm already paying by the hour, the items moved didn't incur any extra cost in materials. Cost was $184 per hour for 4 guys and 2 trucks. Seems to reason that if the item takes extra time to move due to it's size, I'm already paying more with the base price. Other than that, the guys were very friendly, professional and took good care of our belongings. They broke the mirror in a curio cabinet, took it with them and brought it back good as new in less than a week. Couldn't ask for a better resolution to the only problem we had.
Description of Work: Performed no packing. Picked up cartons and furniture to move to new home approximately 15 miles away from previous home. Moved several large items, which cost extra ($100 for one item).

We hired them to move our large furniture for a local move. They arrived promptly within the window that was given to us on the phone. The three guys did a good job moving our stuff and did not damage anything. Overall we were pleased with the movers themselves. The office people that I dealt with initiallly weren't as respsonsive as I typically would expect (I had to initiate almost all of the contact and there was no follow-up). The price was decent for what we needed and we would likely use them again if ever doing another local move in the future.

We contacted this moving company because none of the national movers were performing local moves. I asked during the quote about buying some additional insurance. They don't offer additional insurance, but assured me that they were "always able to repair" any damage that was incurred during a move. No one came out to assess what would be needed, they just quoted us an hourly rate. Fortunately I asked for 2 trucks, otherwise we would have had to do the move in 2 trips. The guys that did the work were fine. They were a hard working crew who obviously were aware we were paying by the hour and did not waste any time. During the course of the move they dented our stainless steel refrigerator door, and scratched our new front loading washing machine, in addition to knocking off the knob. No one told us about the damage to dishwasher, we found the knob laying on top of the washer. We did witness the denting of the refrigerator door. They had someone come out and fix the knob on the washer, but because it was too expensive, did not fix/repair the refrigerator door or the washer door. All they said their insurance could offer us was $100. The cost to repair the door was approximately $750. I wrote to their home office (this is a franchise) and they simply referred me back to the local office. I never got a letter of apology, a call, nothing. Nevermind that my property was damaged and they won't fix it (other than the washer knob and the usual minor furniture dings). If you can be confident that nothing you own could ever incur damages in excess of $100, I would use them. Otherwise, I would never use them again. Their refusal to pay to repair the door is unacceptable. No one here or in their corporate office is customer focused.
Description of Work: The moved our 2,300 sf home. They did not pack any of our property.

Let's change the name to 2 careless thieves in a truck. Start with they did serious damage to all my wood furniture: scrapes and nicks. They stole numerous electronic items, digital camera, 35mm cameras, mini computers, a portable radio, cassette and CD player. A Rubbermaid bucket containing most of my sheets and towels. Also an antique piggy bank that belonged to my deceased mother in-law. I called the company right after the move a rude woman by the name of Wendy said you have to CLOSELY supervise them every minute. They are supposed to be bonded and insured. Guess that means nothing. A report was filed with my local police department. I was told by the PD to call the corporate office which is in Lansing,MI. No help there from woman named Brenda. Her stance was they are innocent until proved guilty. So I paid them $577.00 to steal from me close to $2000.00 and damage my belongings. I may as well have hired prisoners on work release from the local jail to move me. At least then I would have known what I was getting. Oh let me not forget the laptop I am using to submit this report. I caught them burying the laptop under a bunch of wrapping paper for moving. I caught them RED HANDED on that one. Whatever you do, do not use this company. Their worker will steal you blind, damage your goods. They are the worst company of any kind I have ever done business with. I had more damage done in a 5 mile move than the previous move which was well over 1000 miles. The realtor that I used recommended this company. Since my move they have had several complaints from other clients being ripped off. They will no longer recommend them.

Response from Two Men And A Truck - Charleston
The member signed all paperwork stating the truck was empty at the end of the move. Our office was not notified of any damages. The team who moved her has worked for our company for more than a year, completing approximately 300 moves. They have never received a complaint. If customers feel an item has been taken without their permission we encourage them to file a police report. Our office will cooperate fully with any investigation. To date, we have not been contacted by the local authorities. We welcome the opportunity to resolve this matter.

Description of Work: The men unloaded a U-Haul that my and I had used to move from the upstate. Within an hour and a half they had the truck unloaded and all of my furniture in the correct rooms. They were wonderful. We will be using them again when we move.

They moved all my office furniture and fixtures to a storage facility and also delivered part of it to my home office. They took apart the desks, hutches, and armoires that had to be disassembled. Each piece was carefully put onto the moving truck and removed. The wood pieces were wrapped in moving blankets. They put paper down in the storage unit and stacked everything very nicely. The pieces that were brought to the house was treated like it belonged to them. They actually had to remove 2 doors from the frames to get my desk into the home office. They reassembled the desk, armoire, and doors and even helped move the other desk over some more so the new one would fit better. These guys made sure there were no knicks or dings in anything. They did a fantastic job in a very timely manner. There were 4 men in this truck (one truck had had a problem so they brought the men from it with them!) I actually got more help for the money. That was wonderful!
Description of Work: Removal of office furniture from an office, with part of it going to a storage unit and part of it going to a home office. This included disassembly of some furniture and shelving and then re-assembling some furniture when put into the home office. I did move all the electrical/computer/telephone equipment and transport it.

No one did a pre move estimate. Neither were we advised until the team arrived that the cost per hour was $110. Neither were we advised that the company no longer boxed and moved clothing. My computer desk and hutch, and my daughter's computer desk were both broken. I also had a very expensive clothing iron that had the electrical cord cut. The movers did not even say that they'd broken the furniture. The legs were not placed back on a sleeper couch, (the movers had left them at the old address) and I was told it would be an additional charge of $110 to put them on. I ended up doing that two days later. Called to report the damage. The owner, Chris Swanson said they were not responsible since the furniture was press board. Even though there was no documentation nor any discussion to that before moving began. The only written documentation before moving was a sheet stating that no furniture is damaged. He did send a repairman to fix the 1st desk, unsatisfactorily. Took 11 hours.
Description of Work: Company moved my furniture from home to new apartment and placed some furniture in nearby storage facility. The moving team arrived on time.
