The install of the new roof seemed to go well and at first we were pleased. A short time after the roof was installed we noticed a leak on the roof above the screened in porch. Superior came out four times to fix. On the fourth time they said it was the skylights that were leaking. Neither leaked prior to the new roof. Superior said the skylights were not covered under their warranty and they were done. Estimates to replace the skylights are 2k to 4k. This is on top of the new roof we just paid for. I later found out that the skylights should always be replaced when a new roof is installed as the seals are usually damaged and they will leak. Also, I've talked to other roofing contractors and most always recommend to change the skylights with a new roof. Unfortunately, Superior didn't say anything until we had a leak. If we had known, the skylights could have been replaced for much less during the the new roof install. We are very disappointed in Superior and would NOT recommend them to anyone. They are very unprofessional and do not stand behind their work. They are supposed to be the experts and should have advised us on replacing the skylights with the new roof. Now we are looking at a very expensive repair that could have been avoided.

My neighbors were getting new roofs due to a recent hailstorm and eventually my door bell rang. The offer was to do a roof inspection and see if I qualified for an insurance claim for a "free roof" + deductible. I agreed and later signed a binding contract based on what I was told - he was SURE that I had a valid claim. The issue is the claim information was not anywhere near "borderline" and rejected by my insurance carrier. Certified roof inspectors have training, examples, experience, etc. and that is who the insurance carrier sent to confirm the damage. The contractor has no skin in the game - you are the homeowner and take all the risk - risk of their service, risk of materials, risk of insurance issues, etc. The homeowner drives the claim. All I managed to do is lose my claim free discount $314.96 /year and learn how important it is to get someone certified to tell you things when it comes to insurance. I also learned the meaning of the term "storm chasers".

After months of no contact, I re-initiated contact with John, who instead of returning my call, has their sales guy Blake call me. I mention about comparing prices with other companies, and am immediately threatened by Blake (twice). After doing some checks, I decided not to do business with someone who threatens you to do business with them or else. Not a good start to any business relationship. Scaremongering by Blake. Insurance chasers. Stay away from these people, sign nothing, and find others with moral and ethical integrity.
Description of Work: Needed a roof replacement. Had John come out to give me an estimate, who then in turn, leads me down the path of submitting a homeowners claim with my insurance carrier, under the guise of getting them to pay for most of replacing the entire roof. Once claim is returned, he'll have his sales guy come out to sell me the roof I want.

Called and blasted for scaremongering.
Description of Work: This outfit drives around and claims you have roof and hail damage after Irma. I just had a total re-roofing job by TriCounty with 130mph shingles 3 months ago. Their letter said "we have sent you two letters etc". Never. I have heard of folks being scared by a company like this and then claiming against their insurance co. My roof was twenty years old. Time to replace. I would NEVER fall for this scare tactic and neither should anyone from Angie's list

It went absolutely fantastic. The workmen showed up early, had the job completed in one day, cleaned up right through 7:30 p.m., plus came back in the morning for another sweep for nails. They had quite a few men working on the roof, each as talented as the other. There was no goofing off. They stopped for lunch, and that was it. The roof came out beautifully. Neighbors even complimented the job, and noticed how diligent the workmen were. I definitely recommend Superior Windows & Roofing LLC.
Description of Work: We had contacted this company regarding our roof. My husband had noticed some deterioration, such as hail damage, and wanted it further inspected. We have only lived in this house 5 yrs., but we decided to go to the professionals. The gentlemen we dealt with were very professional. They gave thorough explanations on what we should expect from the single shingle roof, currently on our 12 yr. old home, and the better architectural shingle they also offered. There was absolutely no pressure to upgrade. They stressed what was within our budget range is what they would do. We decided to go with the upgrade because of it being a superior roof, much longer guarantee and the high winds it can hold up to. Living in the low country, it gives us a better feeling of safety. The company dealt with our insurance adjustor, which was appreciated. We didn't have to feel like we had to justify the need for a new roof. It was taken care of for us.

Called Superior to obtain 2nd estimate for roofing replacement & confirm possible insurance claim. John (Inspection Manager) called back within 24 hours to arrange inspection. Inspection was completed as arranged, John confirmed storm damage and assisted in making the claim with my insurance company. John also followed up and met the adjuster assigned by my insuror for the claims inspection. Once the claim was confirmed and the insurance estimate was made available, Frank (General Manager) met with us to review the insurance assessment and arrange the work schedule. The materials handlers and roofing crew arrived as scheduled, and the work was completed on time and as promised (complete tear-off, roofing felt upgraded, all new drip edge & pipe collars installed, & original composite shingles replaced with lifetime architectural shingles). We were treated respectfully and professionally every step of the way. John & Frank took time to answer all our questions and explain the processes involved, and both followed up after the job to ensure we were completely satisfied. The finished job is fantastic and I highly recommend this company!

The installers showed up on the appointed day, but began work a little later than planned. They did complete the removal and replacement before dark. The work looked good and they spent a good amount of time doing cleanup of old shingles and nails on the ground around the house. More effort could have been made to protect the window screens and gutters from old shingles as they fell (several screens were damaged and large black marks were visible on the house exterior). As the months went by after the job, I continued to find roofing nails and bits of old shingles in the yard. Also about a year after the job, several shingles over the top of flashing came loose. I called Superior to get them fixed but was told they were too busy. I eventually fixed them myself.

I hired Superior Windows and Roofing to replace my roof in response to their mailer about hail damage in my area. The contractor (Frank) had a crew begin work on 3 Sept projecting that the job would take "3 days at most". The job ended up taking almost 5 days and butted up against a business trip I had to go on. More importantly, the contractor left my roof and home unprotected overnight in between work days after the roof had been stripped. It rained (as it often does in Charleston in the summer and early fall) and I observed water damage on my ceiling in several spots and water leaking out of an electrical fixture on my wall. I informed the contractor at about 7 am on 5 Sept that leaks were occurring. He promised to repair the damage, however when I returned home from work at about 9 pm there were more leaks and my roof was still unprotected from the elements. I reported the damage again to the contractor and sent pictures, and only then did he come out and cover the roof with a tarp, which protected me from that night's rain. The contractor repeatedly demanded payments for services before interior water damage was repaired and exterior touch ups were completed. The contractor stormed off in anger one evening when I refused to pay for the job before he repaired clearly damaged siding and cleaned up a hail of roofing nails that ended up in my driveway. He kept emphasizing "we have a lot of money tied up in this roof," without seeming to care much that I'd been rained on inside my home because of his lack of a professional installation process. I spent $150 on a professional inspection to discover the extent of any water damage, and the contractor did not offer to make any accommodation for this expense. Finally, I noticed that the contractor used a tarp to cover the trailer of roofing trash in my driveway (without being asked), but did not bother to cover my home until I reported leaks twice. The trash was treated better than my home! To be fair, the contractor painted over all the water spots I identified at no extra charge. The end roofing product is nice looking, however for such a high-priced project from a contractor who boasts about installing "10 roofs/day", the process was far more painful than I expected. That is all.
The roof project was exceptional . Frank as great with the process. Project was completed on time and it looks great. Minor issues with the subcontractors for the inside repairs. I shared with Frank my concerns and he made it right. They came back out and corrected the issue to my satisfaction. I have referred 2 clients to him and they were both happy a well.
Description of Work: Replaced my existing roof with upgraded architectural shingles. Repaired water damage in the living room, scrapped popcorn off, smoothed ceiling and painted.
This review actually covers two jobs done by Superior Windows and Roofing. In both instances, Frank Crump was a pleasure to work with and attended to EVERY aspect of the process to make sure the jobs were done correctly and to our satisfaction. He not only treated us with a great deal of respect, but he also spoke highly of his workers and interacted with them in a highly professional manner. Job #1 involved the roof. Superior worked very closely with our insurance company and helped make sure that the wind and hail damage they noticed was documented and covered by State Farm, which made the process go extremely smooth. With regards to getting paid by the insurance company, follow EVERY recommendation Frank makes and the payment process will go very smoothly. Our roof, wood rot, ceiling repair, and chimney cap replacement were completed in a very timely manner. The workers stayed on the job until everything was completed, even staying when they ran out of daylight to make sure they cleaned up our property as much as possible (our property was almost immaculate when I got up the next morning!). All work was done professionally and COMPLETELY to our satisfaction. I would HIGHLY recommend Superior for your roofing needs. Job #2 involved installing aluminum trim and vinyl soffits. Again, the work performed was fantastic, but our only gripe was the amount of time it took to complete the job. It turns out that when we got our estimate, the contractors underestimated the amount of time it would take to complete the work. When this job extended a couple of days past the estimated completion date (and I took into account delays due to bad weather), Frank stepped in to make sure we had a firm completion date. Yes, we were frustrated, but Frank stood with us all the way and made sure we were completely happy with the job. The house looks great and the neighbors have even said so! I would still recommend Superior for your siding needs despite the delays in finishing the job. Just work closely with Frank and the contractors to make sure their estimated time of completion is realistic; this was not Frank's fault, since he was relying on his contractor's statements. Thanks for the great job, Superior! You guys are the bomb!
Description of Work: Roof replacement with architectural shingles, Roof repair and wood rot repair, Replacement of chimney cap, Interior repair of ceiling due to roof leak, Aluminum trim and vinyl soffits. The above cost is our portion of the job and does not include the insurance reimbursement, which was about $7000.

My neighbor was having his roof replaced and one of "Superiors" estimators stopped by and offered to look at our roof for hail damage - explaining that my insurance would cover replacing the roof for hail damage minus any deductible. They found damage, the insurance adjuster agreed and we went forward with the claim. Superior never did their own estimate ... they just ran with the Insurance Company's estimate which was fine except the insurance company had them replacing some window screens. I pointed that out to the lead guy and he didn't want to replace them ... he didn't see it in the estimate and they were done. After some words, he did offer to refund the difference. The roof looks good, time will tell how good a roof it is. If you do business with them make sure you both are reading from the same estimate.

Response from Superior Windows & Roofing LLC
While I appreciate anyone taking the time to review our company, I feel a response to [member name removed] review is necessary. [member name removed] provided us with an estimate from his insurance company that was unreadable, due to his printer, and after asking, wouldn't provide us with another. The price we gave was our estimate. Items that were not included in his estimate from his insurance company, such as a ridge vent and synthetic high performance shingle underlayment, were included at no additional charge. Further, [member name removed] had several vents on his roof he wanted taken off and covered with plywood, that again we did at no extra charge. After the roof was installed, [member name removed] stilled owed several thousand dollars, when he called about replacing the screens. I explained that I had priced everything based upon the numbers he showed me, but he was more than welcome to keep the amount for the screens. [member name removed] then went out of town, and a month later paid his final bill minus the amount for screens. Our goal at Superior is to make every client exceedingly satisfied, and we will continue to strive for that goal.

I was at home one afternoon and I got a knock at my door. To my suprise it was a salesman for Superior Windows & Roofing. At the time my roof was about 12 years old. The salesman's name was Adam. He then told me that my roof looked like it had alot of wind and hail damage and offered to climb on my roof and inspect it if I wanted. He was very polite and seemed very knowledgable on what he was doing. I also liked the fact that he was not pushy in anyway. After he inspected my roof, he then explained to me that I could possibly qualify with my insurance for wind and hail damage. I was very suprised to hear that because I knew my roof was old and looked very worn but because a roof costs alot of money I was in no hurry. Adam set everything up with my insurance company and even met with the insurance inspector. I can say that Superior Windows & Roofing made it so easy for me because I did not have to do much, which was a relief because my schedule is very tight with work, school, and family. As soon as my Insurance approved me, they started the next week and completed everything in one day. I was very impressed with how quick they were able to put the roof on and how they cleaned up everything. My new roof looks very good in quality and overall adds value to my home. Superior Windows & Roofing was very professional all the way through the process. I would recommend anyone who needs a new roof to go Superior Windows & Roofing.

We were contacted by Superior's sales rep, Adam, about replacing our roof that had evidence of hail damage. Adam provided a preliminary inspection of the roof, took photos, and advised that we did have damage that may qualify as an insurable claim. We agreed to further evaluate costs and the details of replacing our roof and were later contacted by their sales manager. Frank Crump, sales manager, was our lead contact once the work was submitted to the insurance company. Frank worked diligently and tirelessly to insure we had all the needed information, forms, and documentation required by both the insurance and mortgage companies. We agreed to proceed and with the insurance company agreement, the out of pocket cost to us was the insurance deductible. Superior called a week prior to the planned date and indicated they could move the date up and complete the work sooner than we had originally scheduled. We agreed. The roofing team arrived at precisely 7AM on the designated day and began tearing down the old roof. The new roofing matrial arrived just after 8AM and by 9AM, the crew had nearly completed the removal of the old material. The work was done efficiently and without interruption to our daily routine. The workers were mindful of the landscaping and kept the work area tidy throughout the job. Mr. Crump came by about half way through the job, inspected the work, and made sure that the job was being performed to his satisfaction. To our surprise, the roof was completely installed and the crew cleanup had been completed by 4PM! We were quite impressed with the speed of their work, the attention to detail, and the quality of the end result. Superior rightfully lived up to every expectation and more. Mr. Crump came by that evening and inspected the completed project. The next morning, the sales rep (Adam) arrived and walked the property looking for any residue (nails, roofing pieces, etc) in the yard and in the flower beds. A second team of workers arrived several days later to repair damage to the ceilings caused by water seepage from the old roof. They also were on time, thorough, and professional in every respect. We were completely satisfied with the result. Throughout this entire job, the team at Superior kept us advised of each step and supported us completely. They worked diligently to submit estimates, assisted in claims paperwork and followed up as needed with the insurance adjuster. We could not be more pleased. They call themselves Superior Windows and Roofing for a good reason, they do provide a superior product and more importantly, they extend a level of customer service that exceeded our expectations. Well done!

I first encountered these guys when Adam, one of their employees, was going door-to-door in our neighborhood. They were replacing a roof due to some hail damage a couple of streets over and he was offering to check out our roof to see if we had any damage. He found some, and offered to contact our insurance company (Auto Owners) to schedule an adjuster to come out and look at it. Now, I know what you're thinking...door-to-door? I've definitely been hit up in the past by door-to-door auto windshield replacement guys (among others) who turned out to be scams after I checked them out. So I came here, and they didn't have a review. There weren't any reviews available elsewhere online either. Adam's a pretty young guy, but he was very professional and seemed to have his head on straight. I figured at least having the adjuster come by couldn't hurt, so I went ahead and contacted him. Adam met the adjuster at my house and they went over the roof. The adjuster gave us an estimate just over $10,000 for total replacement, and our wind and hail deductible was $1000. We went ahead and filed the claim and received our check for the actual value ($6,000 and change) the next week. At this point, we had a decision to make. Do we go with Adam and Superior Roofing, since they came to us first, or do we look for someone else on Angie's List? After having some communications/scheduling issues with another contractor, I decided to give Superior a shot and contacted Adam, who put me in touch with Frank Crump, their sales manager. After a couple of scheduling hiccups on my end (flu strikes the house!) we finally got to meet with Frank. He was very courteous and professional. I expressed my general misgivings about hiring someone who didn't have a lot of reviews out there and he explained that while he and some of the other guys have been working in the area doing roofing for over 10 years, their current company is only about a year and a half old. Frank's a local guy (he went to elementary and high school just up the street from where I grew up, which coincidentally is the same neighborhood I live in now), so I was willing to give him a chance. His company had also replaced Warren Peper's roof (Warren's a local news celebrity) and he gave them a glowing review. Frank was able to give us the roof mentioned above in the "Description of Work" section for the same price as a 3-tab shingle replacement roof. We met on a Monday, and he scheduled our roof replacement for that Wednesday, advising us that they would be there pretty early (around 7:30 - 8 AM) to drop off the shingles, and that it would take about a day and a half. This was the only hiccup in the whole process - the shingles didn't arrive until 10 AM (but they made up for this by working so quickly). The roofing crew was working another job in our neighborhood that day, so they arrived around 1 PM. I had to go to work, but I was pleasantly surprised when Frank called me around 6 PM and said that they were just under an hour away from being completely finished. My wife had taken a picture of our house before they started, and she got one right after they finished. I was very excited to see our new and beautiful roof! Frank came by the next morning to fill out the certificate of completion, so we could obtain the depreciation money (just over $3000) from our insurance company. He saw some extra plastic scraps still on the roof and had one of his guys come over from another job in the neighborhood to climb up and remove them. I expressed my concern about a piece of siding over my porch roof that looked like it had been pushed up, so he climbed up and verified that it was nailed in place. Looking at the "Before" photo, I confirmed that it in fact had been like that before the job, and I had just never noticed. Frank offered to have a guy come by to spraypaint the silver kickplate under that siding to make it less noticeable. All in all, I am very pleased and impressed with both the speed and professionalism shown by the folks at Superior Windows and Roofing. My roof looks great, and they made working with my insurance company to get the hail damage covered easy and painless. I still can't believe we got a whole roof replaced for only $1,000 out of pocket. I highly recommend them for your roofing needs, and would definitely give them a call if I ever need any more roof work or need any windows replaced. NOTE: I will update this review again after we have some serious weather to let you all know how the roof holds up. UPDATE: Well, the roof has held up great through two severe thunderstorms. Michael from Superior came by with another gentleman and they took care of the aforementioned kickplate. It looks great! They also spray-painted the pipe boots on the roof so they're less noticeable. All in all, a great job at a great value!
Description of Work: Complete roof replacement following hail damage from a storm in November 2012. Upgraded from builder-grade 3-tab shingles and 15-lb felt as old as the house to Atlas Pinnacle HP architectural shingles with 3M Scotchgard algae protectant and synthetic underlayment that's better than 30-lb felt. Used 6 nails per tab for a 130-mph wind rating, important considering our potential for tropical weather. Replaced our standard metal ridge vent with a reinforced plastic venturi ridge vent to improve attic circulation. Conducted full cleanup of the worksite, using a magnetic roller to remove as many discarded nails as possible. Went back up on the roof to remove some excess plastic pieces and stray pieces of shingle left after trimming the edges. Roof went from a streaky grayish black to a beautiful reddish brown! Total replacement ran approximately 9 hours. Shingles arrived at around 10 AM and roof was completely finished by 7 PM that night.
