Packers went to wrong house and packed another customer (who was not scheduled until the next day) until Noon - then came to my home at 130PM and packed until 500PM - left to come back at 930 the next morning. Contract was for packing to be done on 6/30/15 - not finished until afternoon of 7/1/15. Very sloppy packing job; as of this time we have a dozen damaged high value items, furniture, artwork, and collectibles. We are only about 60% unpacked and finding more damaged items daily - today - all my wife's shoes dumped in the bottom of a box with other heavier items on top. At least 4 pairs bent and scratched. Yesterday - 2 paintings packed in same wrapping paper - backs of both torn and split. My wife says "the nightmare continues". We are very pleased AAA members and received a nice discount for choosing Atlas. We never anticipated that an AAA endorsed company could provide such unprofessional service. Upon arrival we discovered that the truck was too long and too low to drive to our residence. They had to rent a truck and ferry my furniture. The cost was totally outrageous and on top of that demanded we pay for extra packing charges - not our fault, just the incompetency of the management and packing personnel - see above on packers. After discussions with the mover, they reduced the additional charges from $900+ to $300+ - we paid and now await the claims process. The company is not aware yet of our damaged items - we are waiting until all boxes opened and contents examined. Not looking forward to this either. If they make right on the damaged items, we will let you know - stay tuned. Not sure how this happens to a national company, but I suspect the fault lies in too few staff, too inexperienced and and no motivation to do a good job. All in all we arrived at our new home alive but not happy due to Smith Dray Lines.
