The initial contact was very poor because of no followup. When upper management was contacted was they were very responsive. They gave me a step by step plan to me on how to work with the insurance company, They're service level was very poor. The upper management inventiveness made the experience a little better due to being responsive.

I think their price was fine. I am not really sure that I got the best deal in town, I just wanted to get the best carpet cleaning in town. It was hard to get an appointment. They had to come on a Saturday afternoon. He was on time. He was very professional, but he was very chatty. He talked a lot, a whole lot. We know so much about carpet cleaning and if you have any questions about carpet cleaning we can give you a little presentation. You know there is so much room in your brain. I like to use it a little more wisely. The one person was excellent. They did an excellent job of picking up and they put some things under the furniture so we could put some things back like the big couch had to go back in place and he lifted it and slide the little foot protectors on. He was great. He didn't steal anything which is good. It was fine. It took 3 hours to complete the work. The quality of work is certainly there. I personally think it's the best carpet cleaner in town. The only thing is that I would hope I wouldn'y get the same fellow again. Not that he wasn't fine in his work, he was just that he talked so much, talked an incredible amount. That might be why it took him 3 hours
Description of Work: They cleaned carpets and a lot of my upholstery as well. They did a sofa, two chairs, the cushions for a glider chair, and the four dinning room seats.

Mr. Natter Miller of Service Master of Charleston arranged for a sub-contractor to remove and replace our upstairs popcorn ceiling, as well as repair and repaint all the walls. Mr. Miller was prompt in contacting us, very knowledgeable in assessing the damage, and quick to secure and send out the subcontractor crew. He was also quick to call back to answer any questions I had (twice). The crew he sent was absolutely excellent and we were so pleased with the results. Although Service Master didn't perform the work themselves, the choice of subcontractor was theirs and we were very grateful. They made sure we didn't have any further water damage or mold in the attic, worked around many architectural oddities in this house, went to extra lengths to contain the dry wall dust from settling on any stained wood trim upstairs or going down the stairs to the living room area, and were extremely careful in repairing and painting. They also were meticulous in cleaning up after themselves, and even helped us get some of the furniture back in place. Mr. Miller came to inspect the work right soon the crew was done and to make sure we were satisfied, which we certainly were.
Description of Work: This company was referred to us by our insurance company to repair interior water damage from a roof leak.

Everything went well. The ServiceMaster associate showed up and cleaned the master bedroom, bonus room, hall, and stairs carpet and great room area rug. He then thoroughly cleaned the tiled kitchen floor and resealed the grout. He was very professional and did a very good job.

All of the service providers were professional and did an outstanding job. They even assisted us with another problem not related to their services. I cannot say how much we appreciated Charles and his team of professionals for a job well done. They informed us ahead of time what they would do and the time frame and on the day of service everything went as planned. I would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Total duct cleaning and mold remediation of furnaces and air conditoner. Also dryer duct cleaning.

they went way beyond what I expected from them. they are very reputable company and Justin the manager will not stop helping you until you are satisfied. even if it means return trips to spot clean. I will only you them in the future. there is not a better ran company or staff in chas. thank you!!!!!!!!!!

Service Master Of Charleston were very nice, I had confidence in them until I started smelling mildew, they told me the house was fine and I should wait a while and they didn't get back to me and I had 2 years to do the repairs and I thought that everything was stable and that it had all dried out but it hadn't. As a result, my cabinets had to be removed and a lot more work had to be done. I lost faith in them and I ended up another company that I am very happy with. When I complained to Service Master about the mold they said that old houses have mold and I told them that I didn't have any before the flooding. They were nice but they didn't do the job. They may do a very good job for other people, but they didn't for me and so I wouldn't have confidence in them to use them again.
Description of Work: We had flooding from a gasket that was galvanized and it should not have been and it caused water to flood the entire downstairs are and Service Master Of Charleston came with the blowers and all but they did not catch all the moisture and we have had a lot of problems because of that.

UPDATE: ServiceMaster finally replaced the shingles on the roof in June, 6 months after the project was started. The remaining damage on the side of the house has yet to be addressed even though it has been mentioned several times. We had a gas line fire which did damage to the side of a house that we are renting. We also sustained some water damage from the firefighters, and the insurance company chose Service Master Clean to manage the clean-up. Over two months later (12/30 to 3/13) and the project is still not complete due to contractor mistakes and mismanagement. Two folks that worked on this project were surprised that it had taken this long and said they'd seen similar projects take much less time. Service Master Clean, and the contractors that Service Master Clean selected, did the following: Ordered the wrong size tile for the fireplace area. The crew that was supposed to install the fireplace doors showed up over 4 hours late without notifying me. I couldn't adjust my schedule so they had to come back. They didn't come back for over 3 weeks. Waited until nearing the end of the project to order the gas logs, only to find they're on backorder, twice, causing a delay. After repairing, patching and painting the walls in the living room, they had to cut a hole in them again to repair a gas line. No idea why this wasn't done earlier. Left a mess on the side yard and the roof, scrap materials everywhere. Still haven't fixed some damage on the side of the house. Didn't properly cover the roof, so one of the bedrooms had to be re-done all over again after 3 days of rain, causing a delay. Part of the floor near the fireplace that took water damage was never addressed after mentioning it twice. They have to re-shingle the roof again because the shingles that they used weren't even close to matching the original shingles. Service Master Clean placed the blame on the owners (who live in CA) for this, but had SMC even bothered to look at the shingles, they would have realized that this was unacceptable. Very poor communication. The only positive thing that I could say about Service Master Clean is that the folks that came to set up the dryers were professional and polite. Everyone has a bad day, so I normally give them the benefit of the doubt. In this case however, Service Master Clean has clearly demonstrated that they were not suitable to manage this project in a professional and timely manner.

The only thing Servicemaster did was bring dehumidifiers and monitor water moisture in the floors.
Description of Work: Our AC was leaking and flooded the attic, causing the ceiling to collapse in the bedroom closet. I called the insurance company, who suggested that we contact a water damage/restoration company for cleanup and advised that they have worked with Servicemaster before and they seemed pretty good. He advised that they would get everything dried out, and spray a chemical for mold, and then we could arrange with them to have cleanup and repairs done. I checked Angie's list and Servicemaster's website, and then called. They arrived promptly and installed dehumidifiers to dry the floors, and then the technicians came by every couple of days to check the floors for moisture. The dehumidifiers were in the house for a little over a week when I received a call from Servicemaster technician, (can't remember his name), who stated that he had a check from the insurance company for the dehumidifier service that he needed me to sign. I signed the check, and the next day I received a call from one of the technicians, who advised that he was coming by to pick up the machines. After picking up the machines, he told me that the project manager would be contacting us in reference to coming by to inspect the floors, and that we could arrange cleanup with him. After waiting almost two months to hear from someone, my husband called Servicemaster and had to leave messages three times before the project manager returned the phone call. He finally spoke with Natter Miller, and asked him where we need to go from here, because the insurance company stated that Servicemaster had the heavy duty vacuums for clean up, and would also schedule repair work. Mr Miller told him that we needed to get the hole in the ceiling fixed before any clean up is done, and that a shop vac would be sufficient, we didn't need their vacs. As of today, there is a big hole in the ceiling and down the wall of the bedroom closet, there is sheet rock and insulation all over the bedroom, and nothing has been sprayed for mold. I am extremely disappointed in the service received, especially after reading the water damage cleanup and reconstruction services section of their website.

Experienced flooding from our attic HVAC unit due to poor A/C annual maintenance. We called Service Master to prevent further water damage and for the fear of having mold develop in our home as a result of the water damage. They were very professional and incredibly prompt. We called their service number and within 30 mins of calling they called back. Within an hour of our initial call, the technician arrived at our house. We were amazed at how fast they responded, especially given that it was after 8pm on a Friday night. They set up their equipment and answered our questions. The equipment was in our home for approximately five days. I was amazed at how effective the drying equipment worked. We were certain that we would have to replace our hardwood floors and they saved us thousands of dollars by not needing to replace them. While the experience of having your house flood was not ideal, the service provided by Service Master was exceptional. I would definitely recommend them to anyone that has a disaster recovery need in their home or business.
Description of Work: The responded within an hour of calling on a Friday night around 8pm. The technician was professional and provided a thorough explanation of drying process and provided mobile telephone numbers of his team should we have questions. He set up the equipment and provided detailed instructions and reasoning for each component' use. They called the next day to ensure everything was OK. A few days later, their team returned and removed water damaged insulation and provided an estimate for repairing the water damaged areas. They also performed checks to ensure that the affected areas of the house were completely dry.
