Palmetto Solar

Palmetto Solar has been working with me for about a month to get my home outfitted with solar panels. My first contact with the company was great - they had a booth set up at the Charleston Beer Garden - and they spoke to me a little about their approach to solar and the benefits of buying panels vs. renting them. I provided my contact information and was called promptly by Sean about a day or so later. Sean was and continues to be very professional in all of my dealings with him. He scheduled a time to come and look at my property to provide a quote. Upon his arrival, however, it appeared the site visit was unnecessary as he had already done a significant amount of research about my house and work drafting up proposals prior to even visiting my home. He found an aerial shot of the structure on Google Maps and was able to show me the current roof space and the projected growth of trees on my property over the next 30 years. I was excited to hear that, based on Palmetto Solar's projections and modeling, a solar system configuration of 13 panels would completely cover my current electricity needs - meaning I would get all of my energy from the sun and not the electric company! Sean also broke down the numbers for me (patiently - as I am NOT a math person) and told me about the state and federal tax credits available for homeowners looking to go solar. He told me that more than 55% of my cost would be covered by these credits over two tax years (the state credit is only creditable up to a certain amount per year, the rest is claimable on the next tax year). He also went over financing options with me for a company they use that has very decent rates (at the time that I signed, it was 2.99% for a 12 year loan). Sean was also great about working around my busy schedule and provided me all the documents I needed to sign conveniently via email. The company also offers a discount based on references so I was able to deduct a significant amount of money from the final price just by doing what I was already doing - talking everyone's ear off about solar! I honestly did not think solar would be a reality for me for a long time. It seemed like the cost would be too great. But, for less than $9000 out of my pocket (deducting the projected tax credits and the referral discount), I will be able to meet 100% of my energy needs and increase my property value through the addition of the panels. Needless to say, I am beyond excited!! Sean shares in the excitement too. He never misses an opportunity to celebrate with you. "Congrats!" he says. "You're going solar!!!" I have not yet had the panels installed but will update my review as the process continues. I would recommend at least having this company come out and give you a quote. You never know what may be possible - for less money than you think. Palmetto Solar is honestly helping make one of my life goals and dreams become a reality. I'm very impressed so far and look forward to seeing where the adventure takes us. High fives for Mother Earth!
