STAY AWAY! Ordered a new garage door on May 12th and it took 3 months to come in only for it to be the wrong door. The tech installed the door and left without checking with us because it was obvious that it was the wrong door. Door Systems then had to order the correct door which took another 3 months to come in. So, be prepared to wait half a year to get the correct garage door installed after ordering. For all of the inconvenience of the additional 3 months and an additional install they went ahead and charged us...FULL PRICE! Payment is also a profit center because they hit you up for another 3.5% if you want to pay with anything other than a check, money order, wire transfer, or telegram. STAY AWAY AT ALL COST or it will cost you your money and your time!

They were reasonable and I was happy with them. I had another estimate or two and they have a very good price. They were perfect and nothing was out of place when they were done. They were here on time and it was this one guy came and he just out the door in and he was gone. I was impressed with them. They were very quick. The doors were of good quality.

Overhead installed our doors and opener recently. They were initially prompt, completely professional and easy to work with. The price was great and I like my doors. The process was not without a hiccup or two however. I was not able to schedule an installation time that was convenient for me, consequently requiring me to miss work. I requested an afternoon and thew sales rep I worked with was not able to comply. Upon installation the crew realized that they had the wrong color trim and had to come back at a later date. One of the doors also required a minor adjustment. Again I requested an afternoon since they had to get inside the garage to make the adjustment. And as was the case at installation, They were unable to comply again forcing me to miss work. At this point they did not show up when they were supposed to so I had to leave one of the garage doors unlocked so I could go to work. Stay tuned for the results, as it has not been finished yet. All in all, good product, good price and the installation team was fine. The customer service end of things on the administrative level, though, left a bit to be desired.

From my call for service until they were finished everything went great. They were actually early. The service tech John was polite knowledgeable and installed everything fast and perfectly. He removed the broken system cut the new spring installed the new spring and pulleys then lubricated everything. Considering it would have cost me about $200 to purchase the Wayne Dalton parts I was happy to pay $350 for them to install the new system. Would use them again without hesitation.

Originally, I had Precision Garage Door Service come out and the guy was super sketchy (the kind where you check if you still have all of your tools in the garage). He took a look at the door, and wanted to charge me a ridiculous amount to replace the spring. I went back in the house, made a quick call to Overhead, got a quote that was MUCH lower and the gentleman was extremely friendly and professional. His crew came out promptly and replaced the spring. To top it off, the same gentleman called me afterwards thanking me for my business. Extremely satisfied customer here. Will go back to them with all of my garage door needs!

Angie came out initially and she was very professional and kind. Initially I inquired about just installing new side panels to close the gap between the garage door and the garage to keep rodents / bugs out. However, I wanted to also ask about getting new doors and motors since ours is the original doors from the 80s and didn't have safety sensors. I think the price was OK, but could always be better, even a little! So I always give a B as opposed to an A in that department. Lee was the technician and he went straight to work ; he worked straight through for a couple hours and I don't think he even took a break. The garage was clean afterwards and he showed me how to work everything. He was very hard working and professional as well. Would definitely hire them again and refer them to any of my friends looking for new garage doors!

The Service Tech was on time and quick with his work, serviced my doors, made me aware of some things that could go wrong in the coming years but did not recommend any additional services or parts for my doors. They don't bounce around anymore & shut without having to press the close button multiple times. I am very happy with the service and quality of feedback received from the tech.

I read the reviews and used the SCHEDULE button here through Angies List to get the springs replaced in my Garage Door. The online appointment scheduler has me pick an available time and date for the work to be completed and since the doors would not open at all, I needed access sooner rather than later. So being it was Sunday afternoon...I scheduled and requested the work be done Monday AM through Tuesday AM at latest. Monday morning I do not receive any calls on my phone though my home address and cell number were part of the information provided online. I get back to my desk and check personal email and see a note from Overhead Door. It was someone asking me for my address and telephone number. What??????? So why do I provide it if the information is not forwarded to the vendor or did they not receive anything. So I responded with information and now it is Noon and I get a response saying they would give my information to the Service Dept. ?????? Okay we have wasted an entire morning and still have not gotten someone that can look at a schedule, pick up a phone, and make an appointment????? Informed this is not just a simple service but if cant take cars and motorcycle in or out of garage...it does no good as in limbo. So I ask didnt they receive my cell number and address from Angies List? She said they did not get anything from Angies list and all they got was that we had a problem with garage spring. I contact Angies List and they inform me that the message went out and did in fact have my telephone number included. So somebody is not being truthful...either Angies List or the vendor rep.....so I told the receptionist that I would contact another contractor to do the work as it did not appear she could get me in schedule. She responded that "Wade" was now working schedule but were completely booked for today. So I asked them to cancel the request and wished them a good day. I immediately get a phone call from Wade...but informed him I decided to use someone else as we had wasted half the day already before I finally got to speak with someone that could tell me when the work would be completed and get me on schedule. So that was the end of it. I am not sure who is at fault...Angies List or Overhead Door for the failure to have my phone number and home address....but when I select a scheduling option and the info is sent...I expect a call on my cell phone or email first thing direct to get things rolling...even if it is to say, we cant get to you today is it okay to schedule you for tomorrow? It was 8 conversations before my info went to the guy that could make something happen.....not very efficient in my opinion. Especially when there are other contractors eager to get my business and follow through in timely manner. Like I said...maybe Overhead Door did not receive my Home Address nor my Cell Phone....but when I gave it to them to say they were JUST THEN passing to service dept for them to get to it and determine a schedule was not the answer I was hoping for nor expecting. Either way....whomever was at fault....it caused me not to use a vendor that from all accounts seemed to be a leader in this area. Unfortunate circumstance at best. I recommend that if Angies List collects HOME and PHONE POC Information...that they ensure it is sent completely to the contractors to ensure time is not wasted when the visit needed is not a casual affair.....and if a vendor does not receive the information they call the customer or Angies List immediately to inform them of the error so it wont continue.

Response from OVERHEAD DOOR COMPANY OF CHARLESTON
I am sorry that this happened. Like I said, all I receive is the problem you are having and the schedule dates you are requesting. I do not receive any other information (phone number, address). This is an issue with Angie's List. I did reply to your request at 6:30 Monday morning, and did not receive a reply from you until 11:30. From that point, we had a phone number that we were able to reach you on and we called you as soon as we could. Thanks, Mike Cardarelle

It went well. They came when they said they would come. They provided the service and they took care of what they were suppose to take care. I haven't had any issues with the doors since then. I have no complaints about their service. It was pricey but they weren't the average garage doors.

I was not at home when the work was done, I came home, the old doors were gone and the new ones installed and everything was working perfectly. all I had to do was program the car garage door control to work with the new openers. Hassle free I will certainly call them again if I need repairs or adjustments.

The tech rep arrived as scheduled to assess the damage (caused by my backing into a partially closed garage door - pls don't laugh!). I asked for, and the rep gave me, alternative repair/replace choices and pricing. ._. Since we were expecting a rain storm & high winds the next day, the rep managed to piece back together the door in the closed position - for a small charge. But if they got the repair/replace job, they would deduct that charge from my invoice as a prepaid deposit. That was fair. Since the original door, tracks & springs were 18 years old, I opted to replace everything with new (except for the motor & its related materials). An install date was scheduled 3 weeks out as everything had to be ordered and employees scheduled. ._. A 2 man team arrived as scheduled (1 big guy & 1 regular sized guy) and commenced removal of old and installation of new door & equipment. They demonstrated good knowledge of their craft and good work ethics. I periodically observed and chatted with them. ._. When all was finished, they were about to leave without demonstrating the operation to me. So I asked to review the door operation. Things did not go very well from there. When the "Big Guy" technician pressed the wall switch, the garage door started to close, then automatically reverse. The "Big Guy" had to continuously hold in the wall switch to get the door to operate. He explained that he had to hold the wall switch in to get the door to operate - to override the fact that the electronic (light beam) sensors weren't operational. I informed him that the sensors were operational until they got there. At first he doubted me and then started giving me all sorts of reasons why the sensor are no longer working. Having been an electrician in the military and also having worked on computer networks & systems, I knew he wasn't owning up to the problem he caused. I explained to him why his reasons didn't fly with me. He finally acquiesced and began to unseat and reattach the wires at the sensors. When that didn't fix it, he was about to give up and have me replace the sensors. We discussed how the wires also went to the motor's circuit board and he began to re-seat the wires there. Now the sensors worked properly. So it was something he inadvertently did when adjusting the motor's sensitivity to the new door. Hmmm. ._. Now the "Big Guy" could demonstrate the door's normal operation. However, the door had traveling problems when the top door panel approached the track's curve when closing. It would do a jiggle-jump as it also pushed the worm drive railing up towards the ceiling. He blamed it on the fact that the motor was old (it was 18 yrs old) and couldn't handle the (new) heavier door. He told me that I needed to replace the motor. I didn't buy that. He explained how the motor was overheating when traveling the new door because the motor wasn't powerful enough. I didn't buy that either. He made some adjustments to the torsion springs as best he could. That did improve the jiggle-jump situation a bit but, as far as I was concerned, it was still unsatisfactory. I've never ever seen any garage door jiggle-jump. I even checked with several neighbors. A few days later, when closing the garage door, it went into auto-reverse as it began to jiggle-jump. It did that 3 times in a row, then didn't do it any more. But I thought it could do it again at any time. ._. I called and requested the original technician (who gave me the quotes) to come out and assess the situation. He made several adjustments to the door and track. Now everything is operating as it should be and the company stood behind their workmanship. It's now one smooth operation - from start to finish. The technician explained that the "Big Guy" is a new employee who is with them only 2 months. ._. In the interest of fairness, if you're reading this, I would like to caution you that the negatives in my experience were the actions of one employee, and not indicative of this company's hard earned good reputation. They do stand behind their work - and that's very important - and will promptly address any subsequent issues. From my observations, the company is run very professionally and their employees are all very professional. The "Big Guy" just needs some business ethics training or he can single-handedly give the company a black eye. ._. Yes, I would hire them again and recommend them. I just won't let the "Big Guy" do any of the work.

One of the windows had a crack in it so they had to order a replacement. When it came in they called to set up time and came out and replaced it. Also they sprayed the cable because the door seemed to be dragging a little. He said they just needed to be oiled every so often. Works great. They are very good solid doors...a huge improvement to the outside of my house. I actually can park one car in the garage now and the opener works great. The doors when opening are very quiet and smooth. I got another company to come out and give estimate for the same job and they were over $1,000 less. I am very pleased with the workmanship. They cleaned up everywhere and also hauled off the old doors.
