NEWLOOK REMODELING AND REPAIRS

This has been the worst experience I have ever had with a contractor. Mr. McCrary had advised me before I hired him that he was licensed and insured for 3 million. It was later found after he ask me to lie about the day they started my house that he was not insured until May 6th and it is not 3 million. It was also found that he does not have a license and the number he provided came back to a different contractor. Mr. McCrary also advised that his drywall hangers had worked for him for 3-4 years. It was found out later that he had hired people the day before working in my garage and 2 of them filled out apps in my driveway! He even lied about his age and years doing this kind of work...only in the end did he say that it was his first and last drywall job. The drywall was hung wrong. There are multiple places where it is not even attached to a stud. He tried to tell me that there was fiberglass in the mudd and no need to tape. I had to call the mudd company and put him on the phone with them to say there was no fiberglasss and he needed tape. In the end, the tape was falling, outlets and air holes were covered and I had to show pictures to prove to him that they were missed. I even found where they had stuck the pipe for the air into the drywall to look like it was attached when in fact the rest of the pipe was 1" higher behind drywall. Some of the wire for lights were left in the ceiling and to be brought out, which were in the wrong places. My light casing are no good due to being stood on end and knocked over, not to mention that electricity was turned on when the missing wires were still in the attic and touching. My garage door is now cracked due to improperly placing the brackets up and the door bowing upon him trying to fix it. He advised that the bracket on the wall was too tight..? When I advised him of the ballast all being bad now, he informed me that I needed to replace the lights as the ballast was in the lightbulb!! It took another call to his electrician BIL to tell him that the ballast was not in the lightbulb. My floor is now a mess due to a large amount of drywall being dropped and no covering placed. Mr. McCrary finally admitted that the garage was beyond repair which is when he tried to do the insurance. He then advised that he would refund the price I paid him and he eventually paid for the removal but does not want to pay for the lights,garage door, sanding of his mess or other issues related to the work he did. Each time I talked to him he had a new excuse about my garage. I now have tape hanging, uneven brackets and a garage that has to be ripped out on the inside and redone. Oh and did I mention that I offered them a soda on day one and after a few days found that they drank almost 4 12pks!! I wrote to BBB(which he said he was a member and is not) and he called threatening me. I could go on and on but you get the idea. This was a disaster!!!

After owner came over to get the rest of his money and make arrangements to come back for touch-ups we never saw him again. He no-showed 3 appointments, hangs-up when he hears our voice and does not return calls. He installed floating floors over the original carpet padding. He told us we didn't need the other padding. He installed them under the base boards, didn't replace the boards back flush w/ the floor, didn't allow enough space for floors to expand so now my floors look like a water bed mattress. Several boards have popped completely out causing others to chip and crack. He initially tried to accuse us of spilling water on the floors- yeah, the whole floor, right!! Then after speaking to my lawyer he asked for pictures and now says he is not liable because we didn't buy the proper padding "because we couldn't afford it" even though he told us we didn't need it, and money was never the issue. His website claims to only hire professionals with at least 5 years experience, yet he used a new guy, his father-in-law, and 2 friends on the fly to paint and install the floors. He left used materials & scraps in my garage. He got paint on my base boards, my ceiling fan, my kitchen floors, and counter tops. He installed spliced slabs of marble for the thresholds instead of the proper thresholds. I paid for different thresholds which he could not produce when I asked him for them since he didn't use them. He didn't show up at the times he said he was coming. He insisted I pay in cash so that he didn't have to pay taxes on the money he was paying the other workers and told me his bank would not accept an out of state check when in fact they will.

DO NOT HIRE ERIC MCCRARY FROM NEW LOOK REMODELING!!! HE IS A PATHOLOGICAL LIAR AND A VERY INADEQUATE CONTRACTOR!!! I have never had a more horrible experience with a contractor than I did with this man. -Lied about having a contractor's license. NOT LICENSED. Gave me a fake license number when I asked. -Lied about having insurance. -Does not even have a driver's license. I tried to get the # when I gave him the first $500 for material, but said he must have left it in his other pants. Found out it was suspended from Goose Creek PD. -Laid concrete slab with 2 1/2 inch grade over only 6 ft, highly excessive, did not dig into ground to get good footing. Other contractors say it will completely crack within a year. -Hired 2 men for brick work which did good job, ran out of brick so Eric sent them home and finished it off himself...HORRIBLY! Sloppy work, mortar oozing out of all joints, gaps in mortar between bricks, mortar not finished with finishing tool. Globs of mortar all over slab and lower bricks. Excessive mortar left on ground, no attempt to clean up. -Dumped extra mortar on front lawn and in back flower bed. -Left all contractor trash on front lawn. After 2 days I hauled it into the garage myself. -Brick screen ended up 13 inches shorter than originally agreed upon. Not even high enough to cover the A/C which is the ENTIRE purpose for the screen. -Got very angry when we told him that we were not going to pay him the remaining money until it was fixed. He came and chipped off the messy mortar and attemped to clean up the mess he had made, of course spouting every excuse he could possibly come up with. Unfortunately, I paid him the rest of the money BEFORE I even realized that the screen was 13 inches shorter than agreed upon and documented. -"Said" he would come back and finish it off, I agreed before I found out that he had directly lied to me in every conversation that we had. Not only lied about the job at hand, but also about his age and other details of his life...why? -Found out about his lack of license and the numerous other lies. He will never step foot on this property again. I would rather tear the entire thing down and pay someone else to do it all over again than talk to this con artist again. To rate this experience as an "F" is generous. Not only are we completely out $1460, the stress and waste of time that we have experienced disgusts me.
