Movers & Groovers

They were a little late, but called and it was no problem. Moved across town and it took two trucks, but got it done in a day. They were very professional, did not break anything and were very nice to work with.

It was a capital-T- TERRIBLE experience. They didn't have a big enough truck available to get everything we needed in one trip. I was on the phone with the manager, and they didn't have an attractive (read: fair) option for me. It was either a) pay a $100 fee to get a second truck involved, or b) pay for the time that it would take the first truck to go back from Summerville to West Ashley, and back. That would have been a good hour (read: $100). So my fiancee had to go to her old apartment five times, on her lunch breaks, and take stuff home in her Honda Civic. I began an email discussion with the owner, Matt Doscher, which ranged from hopeful to dishonest to disappointing. I literally had to sue him. I mistakenly sued him because he was so instrumental in going back and forth with me on the issue (probably 10-15 emails back and forth), and he decided to have it thrown out instead of taking the judge's option of just seeing it through. So there went $80. I re-sued the company and they didn't even show up. I have obtained a judgment against them. I haven't seen a dime or heard from the owner. I know it is hard to find a good moving company, but one that you have to sue for $300 and who doesn't show up in court is just a nightmare experience. Look elsewhere!

These guys were great and I thought the price was very fair. I would definitely use them anytime I need something moved. It was easy to schedule and they showed up on time.

I cannot say enough good things about this company and the men who did our move! I wish I could give them a higher grade than an A!!! My husband and I move fairly often (we're United Methodist pastors) so we thought we knew what to expect. When the gentlemen from Movers & Groovers arrived, we had most of the house packed and assumed we'd have some additional time to finish up in our bedroom and closet. We were shocked by how quickly the house emptied, and there we were with our closet only halfway done! :) M&G sent 7 extremely professional men over - they immediately got to work, and were both swift and careful with our things. They took legs off of any furniture they could, and wrapped everything upholstered in plastic before moving it. Fragile furniture like my piano (high-gloss ebony finish) and our antique family pieces, they wrapped first in moving quilts and then covered thoroughly in plastic. They were incredibly quick, but I didn't see them accidentally hit a wall or a corner or a doorway one single time. And not only were they very, very competent, they were so nice as well - cheerful, polite, really pleasant to one another and to us. They arrived promptly at 9, and had our whole house (about 1650 square feet and then a garage packed stem to stern with boxes and additional furniture) and the storage unit (a 10x10 full of boxes and small furnishings) completely packed up by 4:15 or so. We loaded on a Thursday and then unloaded on a Friday, and the unloading went just as well as the loading. I'd prepared as well as I could to be able to direct them where to take things, but there are always boxes or pieces of furniture you have to think about and maybe change your mind about locating...they were so, so pleasant and patient as we figured things out and made decisions. They reassembled all the furniture they'd broken down for transport perfectly. We haven't found anything missing at all, and the only thing broken was one swing-arm lamp that I had overbent and that would have almost certainly snapped in the same place if I'd had it in my car. They could not have been more supportive and helpful, and they made our move as much of a pleasure as a move can be. Finally, they charged me the exact price they quoted me at the start (they had come out to do an on-site estimate), and it was over $1000 less than our previous move five years ago (that's comparing apples and oranges in a way, because we'd moved out of a 4 BR 2-story house, but still!). You will not regret hiring these wonderful people to handle your move.

Movers & Groovers were fantastic. Their service is superb and we are planning to use them again. We are planning the second stage of the move for July of this year and we're gonna give them a call again. They did a super job. They really worked hard on the hottest day of the summer. They were efficient and I would recommend them.

Pushy and argumentative crew. Broken artwort, a foorlamp that I built and a very large canvas with 3D artwork, floor mirror as well. Different crew member worked on different days. The Owner Josh Oleen met with me once before the move and set my expectations that HE would be there and personally pack and drive along with his crew, which would be two other men. Then he came to move me a few weeks later. He packed with them, about 75-80% of the things, and then he never came back and I've not been able to get a hold of him since. After 5/24 I stopped trying to contact him, and stopped payment on the check. If I asked about where things were packed, nobody knew because crews changed. When I asked where the Comcast box and equipment was, they said they didn't know. This now equates to a possible $200 charge from Comcast if we cant find it. They also packed a drawer so full it cant be opened (that drawer has my extra checks and spare glasses in it.) They also wanted the money in full upon when they arrived in NY, but it was a several hundred dollar more than the invoice.

It was very good except for one item. There were 3 guys that moved us and they were very careful with our things and attentive to what we wanted and very quickly understood what we wanted and did a great job. Except for one small thing, we had an Indonesian bag that's very heavy. We were there when they assembled it and they did it about 2 feet away from the wall, but they didn't' move it close to the wall. We couldn't move it so I had to hire someone else to come move it for us. I did send them an email asking them to come and help, but they didn't respond. I would have to think that with them doing such a great job that they just got distracted with something else and forgot to move it back. I would use them again because it is very hard to find someone that is good.

They made sure that we got the best service and that it was cost-effective, which I appreciated. We interviewed 5 other moveing companies and I knew as soon as they walked in that they were the ones because of their personality. They were accommodating to our needs and stayed on stand-by until we needed them. I was recommending them to patients as they were moving us out the door!

Very good experience. When my wife said she found a company that quoted her 1/3 of the cost from our last move (with the same size, contents and a greater distance) I was a little skeptical. I checked them out and they seemed to be legitimate and I'm glad I listened to my wife this time (but don't let her hear that). Travis, Jeff and Antonio showed up exactly on time and got straight to work. Crew was friendly, polite and got things done at a good steady pace. Having moved three times in the last four years, I stuck around to answer questions and make sure things went smoothly but unlike previous moves this time I didn't really have to do much, they just took care of everything. Since they charged us a flat rate by the hour, I was surprised, but pleased, that the final bill was within $30.00 of the initial estimate given. These guys impressed me and know what they are doing. It's only been a few days since the move and we're still unboxing everything, but the furniture is in great shape with no damage, so I expect everything else will be fine as well. Would hire again, but I have no plans to move for a long time.

It actually took 16 months to find our dream home, but Josh's men remembered what we had in storage and moved everything once again. Everything is now in our new home, without one item damaged, broken, or lost. Thanks Josh & crew ! ! !

Fantastic experience from first phone contact on Monday until they completed the job today.

It went great. This is the second time we have used this company and I can't say enough good things about them. They were flexible, very courteous and handled our pieces with care.

Given the short distance of our move we did the small stuff ourselves. The new house is two story with a tricky staircase. Included in the large items that needed to be moved was some large and heavy bedroom pieces that had to go upstairs and a heavy front loader Washer/dryer set that needed to be threaded through a difficult path to reach the laundery room. When the Movers & Groovers team first showed up I was a little uneasy. They were nearly an hour late and their dreadlocked apperance was a little unsettling. My unease faded quickly though because they were polite, articulate, friendly, and fairly professional. They got right to work with a tour of what needed to be moved. They wrapped everything in layers of clingwrap pastic and loaded the truck at a reasonable pace. They really earned their pay at the new house. Based on what we were told we we arranged the move we didn't remove non-fragile items from drawers. Since the pieces were large and heavy, and still filled with clothes, the guys were pushed to their physical limits getting the items in place. They did not complain and seemed to revel in their success. All items were put in place with no damage and the work was completed within the estimated time.

We had a large, heavy piece of furniture that needed to be moved up two flights of stairs. We contacted Movers and Groovers because of their excellent ratings on Angie's List. What a disappointment. They came on Thursday, as scheduled (well, 30 minutes late, but the did call to let us know they were running behind.) I called and confirmed with them that this was a very large, very heavy piece and that it would require quite some effort to get up the stairs. Two guys showed up, they went downstairs to look at it, and then they said that they had to go meet the other two guys who were coming because they got lost. An hour later, all 4 guys return and after messing around with the piece and taking the doors off, they decided that they didn't have the correctt equipment to move the piece (they needed a different dolly). They promised that they would call the following day, and come back to finish the job. Well, the next day passed - no call (though it was Friday 8/26, which was when Hurricane Irene was off the coast..but still..no call to reschedule) they didn't call Saturday, or Sunday. When I called on Monday to find out what was going on, I was told that Matt was the one I had spoken too, and he was out of the office, but that someone would call me back within the hour...and that was 4 hours ago. So, we now have a disassembled piece of furniture in the basement and apparently a broken promise by these people about coming back to finish the job of moving it. Guess we'll have to find someone else to come and do what Movers and Shakers promised us would be "no big deal". Dealing with them just proved to be an epic waste of time.

Wow where do I start? I contacted this company after researching them on Angies List. SO DISAPPOINTED.All the preliminary contact was quick and efficient. I explained I was doing a military move and I would need weight tickets. I also explained that I was authorized to move 13,000 lbs but thought I had more. Spoke to Josh about packing items that I didn't get a chance to pack and he sent me a price listing for this. We set the date for pick up in NJ for 26July and drop off on 27July. Got a call on 25July asking if they could push pick up till the 27th and drop off on the 28th. That was not going to work for us and was told that it would stand as is. Well on the pick up day I get a call that the truck broke down (what a coincidence). So everything was pushed back a day. When they got there for pick up they loaded the truck full and we had items that had to be left behind because it wouldn't fit on the truck. Price would have been good if all the items I needed had been moved but I guess I'll have to rent a UHAUL to get those items down here. And since it was pushed back a day I had to sleep on the floor because the furniture was here when it was suppose to be. When they delivered the furniture they were very fast unloading the truck and putting items where they needed to be. They told me about damage to a tv stand that I had specifically asked Josh if the tv should stay on or come off. I was told to leave it on. I was given 1 of the 2 weight tickets and was told that the other would be dropped off the next day (Friday). It was not dropped off Friday or Monday but it was dropped in the mail and I finally got it. While unpacking we notice more damage and have called and left messages for Josh but have not gotten a return call to this day.

I was pleased with them. They were pleasant to work with.

Matt and Josh showed up on Monday morning at 8:00 to move my daughter. The took great care of her belongings, took down her bed, and removed her mirror from her dresser. The did not damage any of her belongings and was finished by noon. I have used Matt and Josh twice in one year and will use again if I ever need another mover.

Josh and Matt moved my daughter's belongings starting at about 8:00 AM and had the job completed by noon. They moved everything from a third floor apt building (stairs) and moved her into her new house. They set up her bed and her dresser and put them in place. Nothing was broken and they were pleasant and professional.

They were on time and very efficient

Overall, they helped make a stressful situation less stressful.

Very well. I was very pleased with them. I found them on angielist because of their rating and other reviews. If you want to be sure they are on time you should probably schedule for first thing in the morning.

They came on time, moved huge pieces of furniture through small doorways and did not bump into anything or leave a mark anywhere. They picked up heavy furniture as if they were carrying empty boxes. I was extremely impressed!!

They treated my belongings like they were thiers, they did not scratch even one item, nothing was lost, everything made it here safely and they even moved us into a raised home and it was very hard work. We have moved several times and they are the best company we have ever used!

The very best!! We intend to use them again soon.
