We had used Terry before to evaluate a crawl space in a house we were looking to buy. We were very pleased with his inspection process. We did not buy the house based on his inspection. When we developed a mold and moisture issue in our current house sunroom we called Terry. It was determined that the best fix was to encapsulate the sunroom crawl space and install a dehumidifier. Jody and his crew removed the sunroom floor, encapsulated the crawl space, installed the dehumidifier and put in a new sub-floor in 3 days. We were very pleased with their level of professionalism and thoroughness on this project. We would definitely recommend them and use them again if we had any mold and or moisture issues.

We are having our screen porch enclosed. I called several companies listed on Angie's list to see about having my crawl space insulated. Several did not call back. One called me back but after I left two messages. I was unable to answer the phone at the time. He left no message. I returned the call immediately and left a voicemail but still have not received a return call. One person tried to sell me everything under the sun before they would even come to see what I needed. I was really turned off by this. Jody with Moisture Control Experts returned my call and set up an appointment for the next day. He got to my house a little earlier than he thought but that was okay. I explained what we were planning on doing and asked for his recommendations. Should we encapsulate the underneath of the screen porch even though the rest of the house was not or did it make sense to foam etc. He crawled under the house to inspect our current situation. After looking at the underneath of the house. He explained that we have no mold or damp areas under the house. He said that he has seen houses that have encapsulation and they don't look as good as our free air flow crawl space. He said since the area is going to be less exposed to the elements than now....it may be best to leave as is. He laughed and said, "I would love to sell you something but you don't need it. You may years from now but for now your free flow air crawl space seems to be fine". I thanked him for his honesty and he left. I will definitely call Jody and the people from Moisture Control Experts in the future if I need work done because I feel they will give me an honest assessment for any work that will need to be done. Thank you Jody for being an honest expert!!!!

I've never worked with a such a great company. We had Moisture Control Experts come out to do an estimate on a house we were thinking about buying. The estimate was so thorough that we knew how many joists and even the square footage of sill that we had to have replaced. We got many estimates for the job (which was lifting the house, almost a complete rebuild of the bottom, mildew treatment, and full encapsulation). Moisture Control was not the cheapest, but they were by far the most thorough and professional. We felt completely reassured that our house would be taken care of, and boy were we right! Terry and his crew are extremely hard workers and went above and beyond to take care of our house, even though our crawlspace was very bad. We are so thankful for these guys. We were able to use their estimate to negotiate exactly what we needed out of the purchase price, AND we are so happy to have our house done right so that we can live a lifetime in this house. If you have mildew problems, you can trust Moisture Control Experts to tell you exactly what you need to do to fix it and rest assured that they will do a thorough and complete job to protect your house. They may not be the cheapest, but I feel like when you want to protect your house and the air you breathe, the best is the better way to go.

The workers arrived on time..kept us informed daily and were very professional. They cleaned up everyday. Wood had to be cut and sawdust was swept up and lumber stacked. Because of rain they could not work one day but came on Saturday morning ti finish the job on time. I job superviser, Jody, is a total professional, always ready to answer any questions. He said he would be back to inspect after a few weeks to make sure everything is working as it should. I have already recommended this company to a friend.
Description of Work: This was a major project dealing with moisture, mold,joist replacement and floor leveling. In addition, a vapor barrier was installed in the crawl space. A humidifier was also installed.

Description of Work: We had a foundation repair company do some repair to our foundation. They had to do the work from the crawl space under the house. We asked tham to cover the dehumidifier unit that Moisture Control installed about five years ago. In the process they ended up turning a dial that controls the unit. As a result, the unit was in effect turned off. Terry Tully came to the house and reset the control. When I asked for the bill, Terry said "no charge". Now that's really outstanding service.

Test went as planned. However, that was the end of the good stuff. At the end of the testing, it was revealed that we couldn't get a quote for remediation without paying another $150. This was not disclosed prior to testing and they charged among the highest for the testing. We did get the mold test result with the statement that we had a problem. While they did answer my follow-up call, they were unwilling to answer my questions in layman's terms and they would not send me a written statement on the origin of the problem. They had told me there was no moisture in the walls during the testing and after I told them I found a rotted window sill a week later, they changed their story and accused me of not having listened carefully to them. Very unprofessional.

I have never delt with a more professional, responsive, reliable and trustworthy company in my life. We had some serious level 3 contaminated water issues as a result of a broken pipe under my crawl space. This issue occurred while I was out of town for business and my wife was home alone with our two children. Upon returning home, I contacted Mr. Tully (owner) and within a day he was at my home assessing the situation. It was apparent to me from the onset that Mr. Tully was very well-versed in this field and was more than capable of handling the situation at hand. It was extremely comforting to me to deal directly with the owner of the company and to know that he truly was an expert. It was furthermore comforting to know that he could handle all issues that arose from the water damage from top to bottom (literally). Mr. Tully did not downplay the situation at all, but he did put me at ease in assuring me that they would address the situation in a very thorough manner and adhere to all regulatory and safety standards in doing so. During the course of the water removal and mold remediation, Mr. Tully brought to my attention that my crawl space was taking on water due to poor drainage. He showed me the problem instead of just explaining it to me and there was absolutely ZERO pressure to spend additional money. He simply explained and showed the problem at hand and I never felt as if I was being pressured into buying any kind of additional service. We purchased a house that had been renovated, and learned over a year later that a mold issue had been covered and painted over. Terry assessed the problem, took measurements to define it, and provided detailed remediation plans with options and well documented cost estimates. His guys removed and repaired the active mold area, as well as installing humidifiers under the house and in the garage, where the original problem was located. Terry and all his guys were prompt and courteous, kept us advised of what was happening in the process, and did what they said they would when they said they would. Terry is a contractor and also provided advice on several ancillary issues. Hard to beat service like this. What we learned from this is that if you're having a home inspection done, make sure you select a reputable home inspector.
Description of Work: Removed and treated active mold drywall in wall and closet area of the garage. Rebuilt wall and closet areas. Cleaned and treated the A/C ducts. Encapsulated the crawl space under the house and installed dehumidifiers in the crawl space and garage.

Humidity in the South is an issue. Our house was built in 1978 and the crawl space was in bad shape. Annual termite inspections always reported increasing amount of floor joist original insulation falling down (~50%) and sweating HVAC lines. All of the old insulation was removed, panels installed on walls, heavy duty plastic sheeting installed on walls and ground, dehumidifier, and new crawl space access door. The difference is dramatic and I am very pleased with results so far. We refered Moisture Control to one of my wife's coworkers who've had a similar experience. The company was highly recommended to us by a realtor friend. I've had two occasions for a follow up check and the response each time has been very good. Service after the sale means a lot to me and if it was bad I wouldn't recommend them at all for that very reason. Their quote based on thorough inspection was not the lowest we received. But, with our friend's endorsement we went with Moisture Control and feel like we made a great decision.

I never had such a group of polite, hard working knowledgeable caring professionals in my home. After the work was completed our home smells clean and fresh, our headaches are gone and the moldy odors are a thing of the past. I would recommend Moisture Control Experts to anyone who suspects they have crawl space issues or moldy, musty odors in their home; this company is top notch professional.
Description of Work: My husband and I purchased a home in West Ashley in early spring that was a vacant for a few months and felt we had gotten a great deal on it. It seemed since we moved in my husband and I had frequent headaches. There was a slight mold /musty odor in the home that never really went away but we did not think much of it. On July 23rd 2012 we called Moisture Control Experts about the heavy mold odor and to possibly have the air tested for mold. I explained our situation and our frustration to Patte who had answered the call. Patte was knowledgeable and very patient in answering all the questions and concerns we had and told me that she would pass on the information to Terrence Tully. Within five minutes Mr. Tully called and set up a convenient time for us to get together and for him to evaluate the situation. When Mr. Tully arrived he asked us the history of the home and then inspected the home for visible signs of mold and possible areas for water leaks. Being there was such a heavy mold odor he suggested taking a few air samples inside the home to see if our breathing air was at acceptable levels, he then inspected the crawl space. After the lab test results came back two days later Mr. Tully e-mailed us the report and followed up with a phone call to explain the lab results. Lab results of the testing did show that we have air borne mold and mold issues inside the home which according to Mr. Tully is coming from the crawl space. He explained to us that 40 to 50 percent of the air you breathe comes from the crawl space. Mr. Tully did take photos of areas of concern which in our case was heavy visible mold and wood destroying fungi on our floors in crawl space caused from humidity in the air. He suggested encapsulating the crawl space, installing a dehumidification system under the home and a protocol plan for cleaning the interior air in my home. We went with Mr. Tully’s suggestions and are glad we did. Moisture Control Experts did the encapsulation and then the interior cleaning of the home and it was a pleasurable experience.

Terry was extremely thorough and more importantly, did not recommend unnecessary remediation. He produced a very professional report after the work was done.
Description of Work: I had my house tested for mold. I was surprised by the cost initially, but the house is large and multiple mold tests were taken. Each mold test is sent off to a lab, and Terry over-nighted the samples.

Outstanding. Terry coordinated with other tradesmen performing termite treatment and HVAC duct repair. His crew was not only professional, but very pelasant, polite, and neat. They also noted a drain isue and repaired it at no cost. All work was completed exactly on time, and on budget. Terry personally inspected the completed project, noted some minor issues needing attention, and had his crew return to correct them the following day. Notably, $0.00 was required by this company prior to completion of the project to my satisfaction. I enjoyed working with these guys.
Description of Work: Terry Tully inspected my crawl space and determined the needed level of remediation to correct an excess moisture problem, provided me with an indepth assessment and recommended plan and cost. He cleaned the crawl space, removed existing floor insulation, fogged (for mold), installed a new moisture barrier, sealed existing crawl space vents, cut a new crawl space entrance, and installed a Santa Fe dehunidifier. Mr. Terrence Tully came out inspected the crawl space. He took pictures of the crawl space, insulation that was tore up by animals. He designed and installed a dehumidification system under the house. Within a week there was a noticable difference quaility of the homes breathing air and no more odors. Our health has improved since the system was installed. Mr. Tully and his crew were very knowledgeable and professional. They arrived when he said they would and completed the job jn minimal time and the cost was very reasonable when compaired to other like businesses only $4200 The Crwal space is now clean and could be used as a short basement. Would definitely recommend this company to anyone with moisture problems

Terry's electrician installed a separate 20 amp circuit for the dehumidification unit. Several days later, his three person crew arrived to close off the outside air vents, install the dehumidification unit and related duct work, and to fog the 3,000 square foot crawl space area with a fungicide deodorizer to kill the mold spores. It took them the better part of a day to complete the work. Terry came back several days later to re-test for the presence of any mold. None was found and the humidity in the crawl space had dropped significantly.
Description of Work: Terry had previously worked for us. We contracted with him to eliminate the mold and to install a large dehumidification unit in the crawl space. We did not bother to get another quote for the work to be performed simply because we felt very comfortable with his knowledge and professionalism.

Description of Work: Removed old aluminum foil from existing sub floor, rerouted existing TV cables above air conditioning ducts, wrapped excessive cabling and attached to the subfloor. Removed old torn vapor barrier, and installed new 6 mil vapor barrier. Removed tree sapplings from under house, cleared out all trash from under floor space.
