Do not show you're going to this business. They will lie to you straight to your face and tell you yes your coins are worth way less than what they actually are. They are scam artists and you should never ever even stop there or sell anything to this business that has thieves working very hard to lie cheat and steal from people that go there. Don't dare go there unless you want to get ripped off. They are most definitely scammers

It went surprisingly well. Surprisingly....only because I'm a natural skeptic. I have some rolls of state quarters and wanted to determine what their likely value is. I've read greatly varying info on this on the internet with some claims that most are worth about $.40 ea and others that claim they are and will continue to be worth roughly face value for the foreseeable future. The gentleman that I spoke with was very "down to earth" and answered my questions at a level that a non-coin-collector could appreciate. In the end, we concluded that though it's possible that I may have one or two quarters that exceed face value, that the likelihood is not great. He mentioned, in particular, a couple of state quarters where for one reason or another that the likelihood may be slightly greater. Two thumbs up for any business that doesn't waste your time trying to make a dollar. If ever I decide to get a formal appraisal I will definitely choose them.
Description of Work: I have some rolls of state quarters and wanted to determine their likely value. They answered all my questions over the phone to my satisfaction and at no cost.

Low Country Coins met and exceeded our expectations. Their counsel on line was excellent in helping us pick and evaluate a coin dealer.

Obviously, we did not spend any money for this transaction. That is why the amount above is $0.00. The story is described above. Simply stated: this is an honest broker in a potentially dishonest business. We picked Low Country Coins based on a primer on their website. Bill (one of the owners) followed his primer word by word in evaluating our collection. If you need to have your coins/collection honestly appraised and purchased for a reasonable amount, go to Low Country Coins.
Description of Work: We had a lifetime of old coins, some paper money and other memorabilia. We took them to Low Country Coins. We had done a preliminary web search/evaluation. But, we were really clueless. Their web site had a primer piece on how to pick a coin dealer. It was extremely informative. We sat down with one of the owners. He spent a couple of hours reviewing our collection. Bill (one of the owners) went through every piece and catalogued them. He even found some more valuable coins that we had put in a different category. He used the latest coin evaluation documentation as well as the latest silver/gold prices to give us a fair price for our collection. After several hours in appraising our collection, he gave us a purchase number that was surprising and welcome. We sold our collection to Low Country Coins on the spot. But Bill was an honest man who made an honest mistake. In evaluating the collection, we both failed to include the ‘face value’ coins in the final pricing. A mistake on both of our parts. When I called him to discuss this mutual oversight, he told us that he had caught the mistake immediately after we left. We could either come in for the cash or he would mail us a check. That day, the check was in the mail. Selling coins/collectibles is an iffy business since most people have no knowledge of the value. You need to trust the honesty of the broker. For sure, the broker needs to make money. But you want to make sure you get the most you can. Low Country Coins is an honest broker. I have recommended them to many of my friends. I recommend them to anyone in the Charleston area. These are honest people who give you honest prices on your collection.
