Five Star Painting of Charleston

The painting job was very well done, the crew was punctual, very nice guys. We saw the owner, Craig, when he came to assess the scope of work and he came when the job was done. He noticed some small issues (paint on downspouts) and he was going to do more work on a window sill. We also asked him to give us a quote on some interior work, he took notes, told me what a great job they could do and he would get back with a quote and price. None of that happened. Craig is a personable guy but he is not responsive. I have called the office, his cell and left an email. Nothing. Radio silence. If he doesn't want the job, is too busy to do the smaller job, just say no so everyone can move on. I would have like to work with them again but now I have to start all over again finding someone else and losing time.

Five star painting did a great job! They got the job done ina timely manner and even were able to complete my handyman list.

Promised quote within a day or two and never followed up.

We got a recommendation with them but they were very good, but we did not pursue them. We went with another company. It was excellent and right on time. He gave a very detailed quote. It was just a timing. When we wanted it wouldn't work out. I ended up paying more with the other company. It was just the timing. The quality should be fine because they promised the paint which was eventually what I went with too, should be matching. The responsiveness was good. I would say excellent. I would have used them. The person who came, I was very impressed and was very correct on a bunch of things. His suggestions were great. I took them to the next person and got it done.

It was fine, everything went well.

Craig and I had an agreement to replace all the wood rot on the exterior trim of my home. I was initially informed this was accomplished. However, after a home inspector checked out the premises a couple weeks later, there was still a significant amount of wood rot everywhere. I immediately contacted Craig and informed him of the issue and he promptly remedied the situation. I was informed that the original crew cut corners and did not do as Mr. Ripley instructed. Since the incident, Craig and his crew have gone above and beyond to make the situation right. I am very happy to see there are still people/companies out there with these kind of qualities and ethical standards....good people! I would definitely use them again!!!

Sooo...when I first contacted Five Star, the woman who answered took my information and I had an appt with one of their representatives within two days. That day came and no call, no show from anyone. I sent them a nasty email. The owner, Craig, called me immediately, apologizing profusely and came to my house immediately. He was pleasant, professional and I was impressed. He sent me a proposal, and the price was the best, $600 less then the other bids with my "angie's list discount" he gave me. Part of my requirement was that they come during a week while we were gone on summer vacation. He agreed with no problem. So 10 days out from leaving town, I emailed Craig. No response. Then I called a few days later and left a message. I was told I would get a call back. NO call. Now it's the day before I leave town, I haven't heard a word from Craig since he came to my house a month before and lo and behold, at 4:45 pm, I receive an email from Craig just as I'm getting ready to leave work and leave for the week. Craig's email asks if we're still on for the job the following week, and gave some lame excuse about how they had been having email problems and said he hadn't heard from ME?!!! Wow. First of all, you don't email me three days before you're suppose to be doing my job and if you're having email problems, PICK UP THE PHONE AND CALL!!! And you need to fire whomever is handling your phone calls, scheduling and your email provider. Do you know, I still gave him the benefit of the doubt and responded to his email and said, "I've been trying to reach you, but I'm not prepared to have you come since I'm leaving town and haven't heard from you. Can we reschedule?" Guess what? He never responded. That tells me, they don't need work that badly if they can't use a phone. Moral of the story, if your company is that big of a mess organizationally, then chances are, so is your service and quality.

Wow, super disappointed. Everything was great up until now! Was able to schedule an estimate via their website which was handy. Received a confirmation email of said appointment, which was a few days out. The day before the appointment, I received a reminder email. Appointment was for 8:00am. Gentleman was running late. Not a huge deal, I've been gathering estimates for various things, and he wasn't the first. He did communicate in a timely manner. He met me at the home on a Thursday, April 20th to be exact. We walked around and discussed everything I wanted in the quote. He talked up Five Star Painting and said he'd have a quote to me that weekend which was great because I have decisions to make. Monday rolls around and no quote. So I send an email Monday late morning. Monday early evening, after no response or quote, I call. The woman who answers is very kind, reaches out to the gentleman who came to my home but gets a voicemail so she leaves him a message. A few days pass, we're now at Thursday, exactly one week after initial appointment, no estimate, no communication. I again email. Once again I get no response. I get around to calling again last Friday April 28th. The woman who answers, again very pleasant and trying to be helpful, states she doesn't know why he hasn't sent the estimate yet. She reaches out to him to advise he send ASAP. We're a day away from being two weeks after he saw the home, still no estimate, no communication ever unless I initiated. Um yeah, I'm not chasing anyone to take my money. Poor customer service, even if they were competitively priced, how could I trust the job would be done well?? Or that I wouldn't have to chase them down to do the work or address anything if I'm unhappy with something?? At a minimum I'd recommend getting several estimates without relying on Five Star to follow through. Shame because I had high hopes.

Once the work was finally done, it was fine. It took many phone calls and emails to finally get an estimate from the owner. I had to point out areas they had missed 3 times before the work was finally complete. Their was no quality control from the owner, it was all up to me. I asked 3 times for a letter from him describing work that wasn't done and he has yet to reply. This business is so close to being good and reliable, but currently the owner is too unprofessional.

I called and made an appointment for Five star to come out and give me an estimate. Bob and Craig came out to my house on time at the date we agreed on. They looked over the upstairs, made suggestions and then emailed me a copy of the estimate that day. A accepted their estimate and made an appointment to have the painting done. I have used them before and they have always been professional, efficient and price conscious. This time was no different. They came in when they said they would, painted the upstairs in a day and cleaned up after themselves. The paint job looked great. It is so nice to have competent people working for you and you don't have to be there and know that the work will be done right the first time. Thanks Craig and Bob for a job well-done.

We have hired Bryan over the last two years for various painting projects. I have never written a review but I continue to be so impressed with Bryan's professionalism and the quality of his work that I feel compelled to write one. Bryan has been a life-saver on multiple occasions,. If you have a painting project which you need to have done on time and on budget (a very reasonable budget at that), Bryan is your person.

Fantastic! I typically only write reviews when I have experience that is above and beyond expectations. Bryan, from the start, was professional and very willing to work with my timeframe. I'm not living in Charleston right now and my availability was limited. He came out to the condo twice initially at my request - one time to do the estimate and the second time when I could be there to meet him in person to confirm colors, etc. I had just had my floors done and this had been a nightmare situation; I was not happy with the results ( I went with someone who was not on Angie's list and that was a big mistake), so I was really hesitant about doing any more work on the condo, but it needed to be painted. When I met Bryan, he answered all my questions and just put me ease that the crew he had were people he had worked with for years; he did NOT subcontract out! They started when they said they would and finished when they said they would... And not only are the results beautiful, the painters were neater and more precise in their painting than I ever could have expected. And, Bryan was aware that I would not be available to supervise, that I was out of state. He and his crew had open access to the condo and could have easily taken advantage of the situation, but they absolutely remained above board. His crew was amazing. Not only did they do an amazing paint job, but they were neater than any work crew that I have had out at my condo. I had asked Bryan to fix some holes and cracks in the walls, and they had to do these with no lights in either of the bathrooms. Again, Bryan worked with me on everything. My friend went by my condo the first night and sent me pictures. Everything was so clean and neat, as if they'd never been there, but they had been there because the new color was on the walls!! My friend was very impressed, especially after she saw the finished product. She praised the work to me over the phone! Given the fact that I'm a female and that I wasn't going to be around to monitor the paint job, there was more than enough opportunity for Bryan and his crew to take advantage of the situation. The exact opposite- Bryan called me when his crew had finished and said that he would have one of his supervisor's he's worked with for 7plus years to come out again and see if she couldn't address an area behind my front door that he didn't like!! Who does that? Only people who are honest and take pride in their work! It's the best Christmas present ever! And it's been such a relief for me to work with someone who is trustworthy and conscientious. I am over-joyed that I had Bryan and his crew paint my condo. I will use them again and again and will spread the word! My friend wants his contact info to paint her home. And as far as price, Bryan was slightly ($100 or so ) more than another quote, but I went with Bryan because I had a gut intuition about him and didn't feel that about the other person. So far Angie's list has not steered me wrong or my gut! Bryan has restored my faith that there are really good, honest, and ethical people in the home improvement industry! You should choose Bryan and his crew for all your paint needs! I recommend him without hesitation!!

Bryan was very professional. Everything was spelled out in the contract, and there were no extra charges. The work was excellent and any issues that we had were rectified within 3 days. The crew was great to work with and we felt comfortable leaving them working in the house while we were not at home. I'd use them again at any time.

Bryan was very professional. He gave us a fair quote for our job. The 3 ladies that actually did the job were excellent. They were on time and did a very professional job. I would recommend them to anybody with a 120 percent approval. Overall great company and steller painters.

Bryan and his crew were very professional. Work was done on time at exacting standards. Bryan was out of town but his English-speaking crew was able to trouble shoot a few issues that came up. Will definitely use them again. Highly rated!!

We asked for our hallway and playroom to be painted. Brian was very professional, friendly and on helpful and the estimate was very reasonable. The people who actually did the painting were just as professional and got on with the job they came to do. They were on time but also flexible with me when I could not get back in time to let them in. The ladies completed the job before I expected and did an awesome job for us. I would definitely use them again and we are really pleased with the results. Thank you!!

Five Star Painting definitely lives up to its name. From start to finish, Bryan and his crew were excellent. Since it was such a massive project (exterior and interior), I got eight different bids. Bryan came over personally to do the estimate, as opposed to some of the other companies who only sent a sales representative. I was immediately impressed with his attentiveness to detail, how he listened to my concerns, and how he was able to answer all of my questions. His estimate included everything and was very reasonable, especially compared to the other large companies, some of whose estimates were more than 50% higher than Bryan's estimate and did not include pressure-washing and carpentry work they told me I had to have done before they started. In fact, the only lower bids were from companies that weren't licensed and did not have full crews to do the work. Since I had time constraints and live in a neighborhood with very strict HOA rules when it comes to exterior painting, I definitely wanted to go with a company that met all of the licensing and permit requirements and who would be able to finish the job in the timeframe I needed them to. Bryan's crew started the job exactly when he said they would, they arrived on time every day, and they worked tirelessly for the entire nine days that the project lasted. Even though they were working during a heat wave and the temperatures every day were close to 100 degrees, they were always cheerful, friendly, helpful, and polite. I was very impressed. Everything turned out beautifully. My house looks better than it did when I bought it. They did such a good job that several of my neighbors asked me for Bryan's contact info to hire him to paint their houses. Bryan uses top quality paint, and the job was done with remarkable precision, which is not easy when dealing with a three-story house with 20 large windows (all of them with shutters). In addition to the siding and shutters, they also did the decks, doors, stairs, fence, porch ceilings and all of the individual spindles on the front and back porch. It looks flawless, as do the interior rooms and ceilings that were painted. The carpentry work (replacing door frame that had wood rot and replacing stair railings) is excellent and was all included in the estimate. As with most big jobs, I was half-way expecting the final total to include some work that could not have been foreseen when the estimate was given, but the total matched the estimate exactly. No hidden fees or unexpected costs!! Bryan's attentiveness to detail (and his ability to do the power-washing and carpentry work also) had ensured that nothing was missed or added later. I am VERY happy with Five Star Painting and I highly recommend them. Bryan and his crew were honest, easy to work with, and always accessible when I had questions. I will gladly hire them again for anything else that needs painting in the future!

Bryan returned my call immediately and made an appointment to give me an estimate. He came to the appointment on time. He looked the house over and gave me an estimate. I accepted his estimate. He and his team came over and did exactly what they said that they would do. This means taking all the nails out of the walls, smoothing things over and painting. I was especially appreciative in that I had to go out of town unexpectedly, but Bryan got everything done with out me being there. He even made a suggestion about some extra painting that he felt should be done to make the house look good as we were putting it up for sale and didn't even charge me for it. I will definitely be giving Five Star painting a call again when I need them. Thanks Bryan for everything you did.

Bryon and his team were excellent. The garage floors looked amazing, and the interior perfect. They were on time, professional and cared very much that we were satisfied. He knew we needed to get the painting done so we could have other services completed before move in and he made sure it happened.

Bryan came out immediately after we called. He not only provide a very reasonable quote but also helped us to pick exactly the right color we were looking for in our living room and kitchen areas. His suggestion was right on and looks great on our walls. The crew was very professional, arrived on time and finished the job on schedule. They also cleaned up the work areas nicely at the end of each day. We would definitely call Five Star for our next painting job.

Bryan, the owner, is very responsive and easy to deal with which in itself is reason enough to use Five Star Painting. After arranging a time for an estimate, he came when he said he would and provided a written estimate later that evening. When they came to start the work, we had a major issue with the paint we had purchased ahead of time (our fault, not Five Star's). Basically we special ordered our own paint but it turned out to be spoiled/too old and was unusable. Bryan and his team helped us resolve it and found a comparable paint locally and then got started within about an hour. That was a huge relief because we didn't want to lose a week+ trying to order new paint and then have to reschedule Bryan's team. They completed all the work in 3 days time and did a good job. The price seemed very reasonable for the work they did. We've dealt with a lot of contractors and service providers this year as we've done a ton to our house, and it seems to be VERY difficult to find people who are responsive and focused on good customer service. To me, Bryan and Five Star Painting definitely stood out as examples of how to do customer service right. We wouldn't hesitate to use Five Star Painting again.

Bryan Buzon came to our home and saw the scope of the work and gave us an estimate. He was realistic about how long the project could take. He was very willing to work around our schedule. His crew came on time and the work was finished on schedule as promised. We inspected the work with Bryan at the end of the project and discussed touch-ups. Those were completed immediately. The project was finished at the agreed price.

Bryan offered his estimate separate from the carpentry work. His was not necessarily the least expensive, but it was definitely the most transparent. The carpenter also gave me a detailed estimate which we were free to pick and choose. In the end, we asked for all the carpentry work on his estimate to be completed and I know he did a good deal more than was estimated. This was generally true of the painting work. His crew was onsite for several days adding stain to a dried out exterior and staining and priming as necessary and finally completing the trim work. When they finished, Bryan came out and we both walked around the project picking out places that needed additional work. I think Bryan actually chose more places than I did to be covered again. Bryan was very professional and excellent to work with and his crew were also very professional. With every phase of this project, I am sure I received more than I bargained for. All concerned were interested in making us happy with the final outcome. I will definitely contact these guys again.
