The ducts were cleaned promptly and effectively. Price is very reasonable ($30/vent) too.

It took me a couple of calls to reach Norman, the owner. We finally were able to connect and set up the appointment for today at 10 AM. He showed up for the job on time; which I appreciate greatly. Norman is a very easy to talk to guy (we are both Veterans so we got along well), very professional demeanor and knows his stuff. My home is only 3 years old, so I knew we were due to start our cleaning schedule. Come to find out that the fellas whom had installed our dryer, when we moved in, pushed the dryer so far back that they knocked the hose loose and it wasn't fully connected. Norman charged us an extra $45 to fix that. All in all, money well spent. I will be adding Norman to my list of contractors and will see him again next year!

I felt good about the work that was done. However, I don't feel the tech that came evaluated the work well. He wasn't well equipped. Left a large mess but he did give us 50% back. I would use them again if needed.

They were very personable and nice. They did a very good job for us. I really really liked them and the price was reasonable.

Norman cleaned the air ducts, but while doing so, unbeknownst to me, he had to pull out furniture. We had JUST gotten the floors refinished and when he pulled the beds etc out, the floors got scratched. I got home at the point where he was done with the air ducts, but had not moved the furniture back. It is really obvious in my daughters room. Literally, the week before we had gotten the floors refinished. I'm super disappointed. The area where he pulled my daughters bed out and there is HUGE scratch on our newly refinished floors. When he was trying to put the furniture back, I helped him, since I was unaware he was going to be moving furniture in the first place. Huge disappointment since the cost to buff out the floors is going to be much more than the service he provided. It was also very apparent on our dining room table area. However, he was super friendly and helpful. Just did not take great care in moving furniture......and the cost to buff the floors to correct those areas is much more than his service.

Norman was very kind and helpful answering questions through Angie's List. He came same day we spoke through the phone. All went easy.

Mr. McDonald cleaned out decades of lint, and even birds' nests and mud daubers. Yuck! He even went into the attic and discovered that the vent duct was clogged, so he replaced it. He also made sure it was connected securely, which had been a problem found in the inspection report. Among the many things which were above and beyond, he refitted the duct between the dryer and wall with the proper vent elbows on both ends, and then he taped it, which I hadn't expected him to do at all. No chance any lint getting through that. He cleaned up after he was done, which I appreciated a lot. Once everything was done, I expected the bill to be much larger than it was, so was very pleasantly surprised at what he presented to me on the invoice. Nice! Best of all, I'm no longer terrified of causing a fire because of improper venting. Would I call the Allergy Shop again? In a heart beat! Thank you for your excellent work and professionalism.

Norman arrived on time and went right to work (after a tour of the house). While performing the duct cleaning service, he found numerous vents that were not attached properly to the ducts; expelling conditioned air into the attic and wall space (and allowing unconditioned air into the house). He repaired these (for a small fee). In addition to cleaning the vents and returns. Norman was insightful in errors I was making with filter selection, provided input on ways to better utilize our HVAC, and was overall professional and helpful.

Norman has done a lot of work for us over the years. We just got our electric bill for this month and it was almost $100 less than this same month last year, with the same average temperature. Norman is a retired Navy man and his work is outstanding. He is a very honest and hardworking man. While doing the install, he handled getting all of the permits for James Island township. Our township also required that the unit be strapped down so he made sure to do that for us as well at no cost!

Prompt, professional and knowledgeable. Explained what they were doing and why. Arrived early and finished timely. Offered advice on replacing air vents and referrals to local suppliers. Very good overall experience. My only complaint is that the service is somewhat expensive when you have a lot of vents. I would suggest they offer a discount after so many vents.

Norman is a one-of-a-kind...he is an old Navy man with a handlebar mustache and chops, and he never lacks for wpords and conversation! :) At the same time, he's probably one of the best communicators of any home improvement/repair personnel I've ever run across. He is punctual and if running late, he will contact you and let you know it and exacltly when he'll be there (didn't happen but once...). He works around "your" schedule as much as he possibly can and works until the job is done to your and His satisfaction. He is meticulous and persistent and may take a little longer than others, but will do the job right. He also did a great job on educating me about all facets of the HVAC system he installed. A few of the primary reasons I went with Norman at Allergy Shop are: good price (average), good value (10 year parts AND labor warranty on the system), vent cleaning included with Angie's List member (at the time) and I thought that really added value to the whole thing. I don't know how the Goodman system will hold up (I've seen both very positive and very negative reviews of Goodman, however, I've also seen similar reviews with Lennox and others), however, having the 10 year warranty (parts and labor) really gives me a little more confidence. We'll see....so far, the system has run well for the last 2 months and I'm happy.

Very professional, on time and service was very good. Cleaned ducts for a couple of homes that had mold in them.

Went great. Personable, on time and saved me some money by suggesting I not clean upstairs ducts as they looked very clean. Will definitely recommend and use again.

Your technician, Bob, was very professional and efficient, polite and friendly, and an all around knowledgeable guy. As you may recall, the previous tenants had two dogs and there was hair and dander blowing out of the vents and rolling around on the floor. After your service, we are happy to have clean, clear air coming out of the vents. The three systems are performing better as well with a much improved flow in each. Also, thanks for the advice regarding the proper filters and your honesty in not selling us the permanent filters that I wanted since they would not have added anything more to the capabilities of the systems. And, I appreciate the cleaning of the dryer vent to give us a fresh start. They did a wonderful job. It was a two day job. The guy came in at 9 and he worked non-stop until 5 both days. We were just super pleased with the work. He was very nice. What I liked about him was that he didn't mess around at all. I guess he brought some lunch, but I didn't see him stop for lunch. He didn't go anywhere, which I found kind of interesting. We were real pleased. We called and talked to him. We had no idea. We just called an Allergy Shop basically to find out from them who to call because we really didn't know. It turned out that we had called the right people. We talked to him at the Allergy Shop. He was just nice from the beginning to the end. I can't say enough nice things about him. I don't remember his name. I think he was retired military. I know that we got a good job and it has helped tremendously with my allergies.

The workers arrived promptly, were very polite, pleasant and efficient, working steadily all day. Norman McDonald is available for questions or concerns any hour of the day and always returns calls promptly.

Bob and Emerson arrived exactly when they said they would, introduced themselves, and went straight to work. From 9:30 am to 4 pm they methodically and tirelessly cleaned our HVAC system both from the inside and outside. From the inside, vent by vent they wiped away years of dust, fur, allergins and who knows what. From the outside, in the heat, our A/C was carefully dismantled, cleaned and freon levels checked. Did I mention that we had an unfortunate incident involving our air filter? While experimenting with a new eco-friendly filter, we ended up with a loose filter being sucked through the return. The experts at The Allergy Shop found that, too...in thousands of tiny pieces. Yep, they cleaned that up as well. Whatever our system threw at them, they handled with expertise and kindness. The charge for the job was exactly as quoted. They graciously answered all of our questions. They left our home, well techinically, cleaner than when they started. We're happy campers and look forward to doing business with The Allergy Shop in the future.

Was worried that we may have had mold in our ductwork, due to lots of sneezing and allergies during the past few months and called in this company to check everything out, which they did. Overall result was that system was in good order and was not the cause of our allergies. They did recommend changing the types of filters we use, which we will do. It would have been easy for them to tell us that we needed an expensive duct cleaning/sanitization job done, but they were completely honest and did not try to sell us services we did not need.
