I am reasonably happy with them, but there seems to be a gap between what their salespeople told us. How things would work and how they actually work. What they installed didn't do the job that we wanted it to do. They had to go back and do a fix. They did the fix, honestly, I'm not sure I would use them again. I would probably use someone else. They are a very big company. They do Summerville, South Carolina. We have had them out several times for upgrades. We had a power outage and our alarm that we thought had long-term battery back-up, died. We called them back and they said that they had to replace our batteries. We have no instructions on how to replace the batteries. I was very annoyed because, the reason we had it installed is that we travel a lot. If this had happened while we were away, we wouldn't have had an alarm. They said the battery wears down and I would have liked to have known that. The salesman didn't do a very good job. I felt that they shouldn't have charged us. They didn't tell us that we needed to change the battery once a year, so we didn't know what was wrong with it. We have to get new sensors for the windows. They didn't accomplish what they said it would accomplish. They had been offering a deal, if I bought so many sensors I would get a discount. I couldn't get a hold of the salesman. I was not impressed, on the other hand, the technical people, when they come out, they are very good. They are helpful, but the salespeople don't seem to know what they are doing. Their equipment seems to be very good. They are reasonably responsive and they are excellent about punctuality.

You can do much better than ADT for service and price. I am not sure of the address of the Local ADT rep. He claimed to live on Daniel Island and did not have an office I am aware of. My problem is partly with the local rep and partly with the main company. The contract was different than salesman stated. Equipment did not deliver as promised. I rescinded in writing immediately and sent registered letter received within three days. They removed the equipment at that time and did not repair the walls. I had no service but they continued to bill me. I called the main company at 800-2382455 multiple times. Each time they said they would stop taking my money and they would refund what they owed. It is a year later. They have admitted that they took $544.00 . They have promised a full refund of that amount just as they did last month but still have not. Again they say I will get it within 7 Business days. They said that last month. No need to get an alarm system for theft, ADT IS the Thief. I am now forced to take up other action against them through my credit card company and perhaps the attorney general. There are better, more capable systems than this. It did not have video. The cost is very high compared to better systems. Whatever you do read all the fine print of the contract because the customer support and the sales reps lie. The only thing legally binding is the contract, not anyone's word. Even when you are legally correct and do everything by the contract, they will still lie and steal your money. When they have your credit card they can take money from you and you have to take action to stop them.

We have had ADT for about 15 years. Had my alarm go off about 9pm when I call I was it will be about 1-1/2 hrs till someone could make a service call and will cost about 250.00. So with help on the phone it takes about 20 minutes for me and my son to get it cut off. Then told I have to schedule a service apt right then can not call back later. So I schedule an app the first one I could get is in about 2 weeks. So I have to call to cancel and was rudely asked why I waited so long to cancel. Then when I call back to reschedule again it going to take about two weeks, so I made the choice to cancel and find another service. Took about 20 minutes to do this, when asked why I said because of their service she jut put me on hold . Everyone I talked to was rude like they were doing me a favor.

Lousy. Would not use this company again. Beware of signing any 3-year contract with this company.
Description of Work: I had a three-year contract with ADT and found their responsiveness unreliable. First, they changed their system in responding to a fire alarm - without notifying the customers. They blocked my land line from making a call to them when there was a false alarm, and instead just called the fire department. I finally had to have a technician remove a faulty fire alarm (which they tried to charge me for). I would never use this company again.

As far as us using them in reference to anything happening we never had to. They are great and we have not had a problem with them for the past few years.

Install went smoothly...after purchase follow-up..POOR!
Description of Work: Updated my alarm system to the new ADT Pulse. 2 days after signing contract I saw a national ad from ADT about a $250.00 rebate. I called sales rep who said he would speak to his manager about ensuring I receive the rebate. After 8 weeks and numerous emails to the sales rep, company and manager...no one has called and confirmed that the rebate is in process and has ignored all request for an explanation. Company and its employees have exhibited poor professionalism and after they receive your money its next to impossible to reach them. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM! The only positive comment that I can make is that their installer was professional and went out of his way to help/teach during the install.

I am in the process of canceling this order.
Description of Work: I purchased an alarm system from the sales rep. The next day I found out that I could buy the same exact system for $150.00. When I called to speak with the sales manager, he told me that the represent had made a pricing mistake and that he could take it from $1000 to around $300 or so. This is a clear case of price galging. The sales manager now wants to come to my home to discuss the pricing mistake. I know that he is not being truthful regarding this being a mistake. I have since received 3 other estimates. $225, $150, & FREE. ADT, tyco was at $1000.00.
