Description of Work: I was asked to get detailed drawings for my planned room addition. I hired a professional draftsman to do this. After getting the drawings I sent out an announcement letter for bids. Mr. Gilpin/Gage Construction 'decline' to bid on this job without any rational.

Mr. [member name removed], I would like to clarify a few points on your review. 1. I responded to your original request in late 2013 or early 2014 - it was so long ago that I do not recall the exact dates. I met you at your house and advised you on a few things that would be pertinent to accomplish the desired addition. A few of the items I suggested were to have a set of plans, as it would be necessary to have that for accurate bidding, directions for the contractor, and necessary for permitting. 2. I never heard anything else from you on the matter, until earlier this year (2015). At that time you called me asking if I would like to bid (on this phone call I reminded you that you and I had met previously and you never followed up with me, as you had forgotten that we had met many months prior). You also informed me that you decided to build a metal building instead of move forward with garage addition that we originally met on. I told you at the time that the addition may be something that I would bid on, but I typically do not like to get involved with competitive bid processes. That is where the conversation was left. 3. Weeks later I received a written request from you asking for a bid. This letter was something that appeared to be sent to several contractors.The verbiage in the letter was as if it was sent to several contractors. One item in the letter stated that I would have to pay a deposit for a copy of the plans - the deposit may be refunded if the plans are returned in good condition. 4. Within two days of receipt of your letter, I sent you a letter respectfully declining the opportunity to bid. I did not give a reason. Honesty, I did not think I would need a reason to not bid on your project. I just felt it would not be a mutually beneficial relationship based on what I have described in this response. I do not think any of this warrants a negative rating, nor do I think your rating is accurate or reasonable. My communication has been transparent, timely, and honest. The only reason I can think of for your negative rating, is that I would not bid on your project. I truly wish you the best on your improvements.

[member name removed], I was a bit surprised to read this review. I came out to your home to inspect issues that you stated you had with moisture and subsequent sub-floor damage. After inspecting, I instructed you that I could not provide a proposal due to the amount of fungal contamination within the crawlspace of home (you had your insurance adjuster at the home at the same time). I provided you with a recommendation for a Mold Remediation company that would first need to remediate the contamination. Once the remediation was complete, I would be able to get a full scope of the damage. At the end of our meeting, I requested you contact me if I may be of further assistance. I never received additional communication. I called you on 9/22 to explain that I never received any communication. I asked where you mailed the letter to. You stated that you mailed it to the address I provided, yet I never provided an address. I only provided a business card. You may have used an address from another source, but I never gave you an address. You then told me that you had someone else working on the repairs and you hung up. I was simply calling to try to get to the bottom of the issue, and to explain that I never received communication from you. You state that you mailed a letter requesting a proposal, yet that was never received by me. You and I communicated via Angie's List Message Center and phone calls previously. If this was sent via Certified Mail, would you please provide information on this? I am sorry you feel that I ignored you. I wish you would have called or sent a message through the message center, as previously done. I wish you the best with this endevour.

Excellent work ethic, skill and professionalism.
Description of Work: Most recently, Gage Constuction completed my patio steps repair and staining. Gage Construction has served as Property Manager for repairs on my rented Condo for the last 2 years or so. Gage completed Heating and Air installation in (aproximately) July 2011, dry wall repair and painting and many other evaluations and repairs when needed. I am always very pleased with the company's skill and professionalism. I have also seen Gage complete a project of a very large Church renovation. The end result was beautiful. I have referred Gage Construction to other family members who were very satisfied with the work and professionalism. Gage has very high standards for its work and will not collect payment until all the work is completed. I highly recommend this company for small and large jobs as I trust that they will be done with excellence! Do: use this company for any construction needs! Don'ts: none to share.

Matt Gilpin followed up on our request for a quotation on installation of gutters and downspouts on our two story home. He came out, looked at and measured our home, discussed our needs and came up with a professional proposal for what we wanted and what he thought we needed. His proposed cost was in line with other qualified proposals received, the concern for our needs was superior to that of the other bidders. A date and time was scheduled for the work. The installation crew was here as scheduled. They did a very nice installation job, cleaned up all debris and left property in excellent condition. Rain storms following the installation verified that gutters, downspouts and runoffs worked as anticipated. Total cost was as estimated. We also had Matt quote on two similar gutter and downspout installations on other property. The service and installation was every bit as good on these as on the first property. No call backs were required on any of the jobs on these properties.

Matt Gilpin and his crew were amazing from the beginning! They always responded immediately to our questions or concerns. During the renovation, we encountered rotted floor joists. This problem was addressed immediately and handled completely by his team to ensure the bathroom would again be structurally sound. I would also like to add that I was 7 months pregnant at the beginning of this renovation and the entire project was finished in a timely matter and in time for the baby's arrival. They completely took the stress off of a major renovation in our home during a stressful time. They also assisted with several design elements and helped us find the best places and people to work with in the industry as we planned our master bath remodel including finding windows, doors, hardware, bathroom fixtures, tub, tile, etc. This was a complete overhaul of the space so everything was replaced including a closet remodel as well. We would highly recommend using them and in fact we are planning on another remodel soon! Thanks Gage Construction!
Description of Work: Gage Construction was in charge of a complete master bath remodel in our home. The entire space was gutted down to the studs, layout rearranged, and complete overhaul of the space.
