Shepherd Fence

Shepherd Fence installed fencing on two sides of our yard. We already had a fence in back. Louis Bass, owner of Shepherd, met with us for an estimate and reviewed the entire area where the fencing was to be installed. Decisions were made as to how much vegetation had to be removed and where the fence line would go around trees, as our nice neighbors were splitting the cost of one side of the fence with us. Louis described what materials would be used and what the fence would look like. He and his crew showed up on time and consulted with us during the installation regarding any problems. Two different fence types were installed, as one side of the yard had a partial dog ear fence that was still good and this was extended. Now you cannot tell that it was not part of the original dog ear fence. The other side, where the cost of split with our neighbors, had a lovely solid fence with trim and caps installed. Both fences look great. The crew removed any vegetation that was in the way and and cleaned up when they were done. The work was done efficiently, professionally and at a reasonable cost. We are very pleased with this company and would recommend them.

Wayne did an excellent job. I had no problems with this company at all. Job was done with me out of state but he stayed in touch whenever anything came up. Could not ask for more. Solved all problems quickly and in a professional way. Saved me money where he could. Great job.

They gave me a quote and I got approval from the insurance company. They completed the fence. They did exactly what they said they were going to do. The fence looks great. It was covered by the insurance. I didn’t actually see the people that did the work because they did it while I was at work. But the person who came and did the estimate was absolutely wonderful and listened to what I had to say. It was not my insurance company. There was a car accident around the corner and the car went through my fence. So I got estimates for their insurance company.

They were good. They took measurements and quoted a price which I thought was a very good price. They were very efficient and came out when they said they would be coming out to install it. I didn't have any problems with them. It was a great experience.

This posting is our personal recommendation for Wayne Bass and his team at Shepherd Fence. After interviewing and receiving quotes from several competitors, we chose Shepherd Fence and are so glad we did so. When we called to schedule an estimate, it was promptly coordinated and Ruby came to our home on schedule, spent quality time with us discussing our needs and wants, and measured for the job. We received the quote quickly and they were able to promptly schedule a start date. The installation was slowed only when the torrential rains made it impossible to continue (most of the time, they worked through the rain as long as there was no lightening). Shepherd Fence is a family business and Wayne Bass and his entire team are extremely hard-working, dedicated and creative professionals who perform their work with enthusiasm and a smile. Our ground is extremely hard with rock and they worked tirelessly when digging the holes to set the posts and never once complained. Besides being a joy to work with, Wayne was able to present creative ideas and communicate effectively to ensure their best performance is customized to suit our needs. Wayne and his team custom designed and built our gates and we couldn't be more thrilled with them. We are very satisfied customers and are enjoying our fence as are our dogs! Wayne Bass and his entire family are hard workers. Wayne is a straight up nice guy as are the rest of his family that we met while they were working at our home. He did great work, the fence looks awesome! It was hard work.....we have clay soil and lots of tree roots to deal with, but he never complained. We had this done about a year ago, by the way. We recently had a problem with our driveway gate, and although the manufacturer of our fence wasn't willing to give us a new 1/2 gate, Wayne came and repaired/replaced it with a new piece. He only charged us what the manufacturer charged him......he did the work for free. He is quite honorable and stands behind his work.....even though this was not his fault, he fixed it anyway. The vinyl gate had weep holes, but the way they were drilled did not allow the water to drain out, and because of this, the gate got extremely heavy and the vinyl broke on the gate. Again, this was no fault of Wayne Bass! If we ever have fencing to install again, Wayne will be the first person we call. His price was very fair as compared to his competitors. We loved Shepard Fence, and if you're lucky enough to get Wayne to install fencing for you......you'll love him too.

It went smoothly. Easy communication from start to finish. Even when we had to completely scrap our first plan because of a DOT right of way issues. We couldn't be happier with our fence and gates or with the service provider. It is unfortunately rare to to find a company that does what they say they will do from start to finish.

The crew sent in to do the work was awesome!! They were so professional and courteous! I enjoyed watching that old fence come down and the new one going up. They made sure that each board that was used in the new fencing was perfectly cut to the best it could be. I was just amazed with their dedication to the job they were doing. The job was completed in the one day and was great! When they were finished, they cleaned up everything. Even took the old fencing with them. That was great, because my husband wouldn't have to worry about loading it up and hauling it off himself!! At the end of the job, Ruby took me to look at the fence and answered any questions or concerns I had. (which were none) I was so pleased with the job they did! She was very professional as she walked me along the fence, and as I admired the job they did. I would highly recommend Shepherd Fencing to anyone! I would definitely use them again. We are thinking about calling them in the near future to add a new gate to the other side of our property. Great job!! I am a very pleased customer!!!

This was a good experience from the first phone call until the job was done. The only thing I would change is that the price was so much lower than other companies, I should have fenced in a larger area!

From the time we called until they were completely done installing, they were super friendly, professional and helpful. It was misting rain on and off the 2 days they installed, but that didn't stop them. They worked hard, and did a superioir job. My dogs are so excited, and it's beautiful! They gave us a better price than anyone in Florence did. They actually beat everyones price by at least $1500. That's huge! I'm so grateful for Angie's List because I found them here! I've sent several people to them since getting our fence and I know they did 1 for my friend. Wayne and his family are amazing and I will send everyone I know to them, and will use them again in the future when we get our decks done!

I would highly recommend this company. I called at least 5 other fence companies and was told they didn't do small jobs or that if they didn't install the fence, they would not repair it. When I called this company I was told they were busy but if I could wait 5 days they would have mr bass come out and give me an Estimate. They said he would be there between 5and 530. 5 days later he showed up at 515. He listened and understood what we were asking for. When he came to do t he work he was on time, did great work and cleaned up everything. Thanks! I will definitely call him again.

Mr Bass and his crew had erected a cyclone fence in our back yard. We were quite pleased and talked to him about doing this. His crew came out and put up the fence in about an hour. It looks great.

Mr Bass was quite patient when work was held up at our end by property survey. He worked with us to get the fencing done as soon as possible.

Great Experience with Shepherd Fencing! Wayne came when he said he would to give us an estimate. He was very nice and professional and knowledgeable about his products and installation . We had a small job, which many people aren't interested in. He told us he would call the first of the week to set up a time to install at the end of the week. We came home from work Monday expecting a phone call from Wayne and found the fence posts installed. Tuesday when we arrived home the fence was in! Beautiful job and great company and person to work with. We would recommend him to anybody without hesitation.

Contacted Shepherd Fencing about an estimate for replacing fencing around our home. Owner was very responsive and called back on the same day. A time was set to provide an estimate on removing the old fence and installing a new wooden picket fence. Owner was very prompt in responding and showed up promptly for review of property and providing an estimate. The estimate was very reasonable. Owner set a date to start and work started. Work was completed with in 5 days of the start, even with a rain delay of one day. Owner is very knowledgeable and provide great suggestions about the style of fencing needed to accent the property. The final product was better than expected. Quality workmanship was exceptional. The owner and crew were very friendly and professional. We are planning to replace our deck and have requested an estimate from the owner.I highly recommend this firm and would not hesitate to contact them again.

I found Mr. Bass on Angie's List and would highly recommend Shepherd Fence. I was concerned that they may not travel for a small job - a problem i find more and more with companies lately. Mr. Bass didn't hesitate when i told him i was a bit out of her work area. He gave me a "site" unseen estimate based on a very crude drawing i emailed to him. When he arrived, after measuring the property, he was within $100 of his original estimate. He showed up as scheduled, no muss, no fuss, and the job was completed as promised at a VERY good price - $500 lower than the compeitor i contacted. I am 100% satisfied with the work, his responsiveness, polite and pleasant personality and would recommend his company to anyone.

I found them through a google search/yellow page search. It's a good fence that they put up and they did a good job. He showed up when he said he would both when providing the quote and when showing up to do the work. They were pleasant and clean.

I went to my neighborhood group who has to approve it and they disapproved it. The gentleman came out and he walked through the property and actually told me what I did not think I needed. The measurement for done and within two days they provided me with an estimate. I had no problems with the responsiveness, professionalism, and punctuality.

Mr Bass was the only one to show up and give me an estimate in person. The other two I called gave me an estimate on the phone. He also gave me different options on the type of fence that would be good for my property. They also took a 20' iron gate I had at my driveway and made it into a nice usable gate to secure my property. They had alot of brush to clear befor putting up the fence and was real reasonable in what they charged for it. They kept me informed at what was going on and I will definitely call them if I have any more fencing installed. Mr Bass and his crew are very professional and hard workers.

Wayne Bass and his crew did excellent work. During the intial review for the work estimate Mr. Bass made several excellent suggestions about how to make the corner and gate areas stronger and more secure. Work was started within a week of the awarding of the contract with half up front and the other half of the money due at completion. They started work as promised on the Monday following the 8-inch snowfall - regardless of the fact that we told them they didn't have to because of the weather conditions. After the first full day of work Mr. Bass again made some suggestions about the fence line and how it would run better for the lay of our property. We agreed on the suggestions. Mr. Bass and his crew showed up every day at 8:00am and worked straight through with only one break for an hour at lunch. They never bothered us or came into our house at any time - which showed a respect for our privacy. In order to meet his projected deadline of four days Mr. Bass brought in an extra man on the last day to assist with the tear down of the new fence. Mr. Bass was here every day, all day, overseeing the work. It was NOT sub-contracted out. The finished job is excellent and all of the gates are exceptional because they are hand made for each job. The property was left clean with no left over nails, paper, or other items. We are already planning to have more fence installed by Mr. Bass in the future. **A special note - we checked all of the fence companies listed at this time (2/2010) in Angie's list against the Better Business Bureau and only found 4 with an "A" rating. Shepherd Fence is one of the four that does have an "A" rating. Also, they do work in all of the Midlands area and not just those areas notated on the intial introduction on the service provider page.
