Coastal Shores Landscape & Property Maintenance

Even though the lawn and garden beds didn't look that great, we stuck with the seller's landscaping company, Coastal Shores, after purchasing a new home in Bluffton. That turned out to be a mistake and we made a change after 8 months of giving them an opportunity to improve. Most of the premium services listed in our contract like pruning, weeding, chemical treatments were either not performed or done so very sporadically. It was obvious to us that our neighbors had superior companies managing their properties so we switched. In my opinion the owner does not understand the basic tenants of good customer service. He was unresponsive to our concerns and despite knowing that we had issues never bothered to call or pay us a visit. He has a nice website though, but that didn't help our yard to look any better. He recently hired a new manager who has some good ideas about how to turn things around, so there is hope for the future - thus we gave the company a C instead of a D.

Rob seems to be very knowledgable and personable. We were very pleased with his work at our neighbors home. We hired Rob to fix a problem area and gave him total creative license to transform this dead spot in the front of our home. He verbalized a perfect solution to our issue, and proposed a new island bed complete with plantings that could withstand direct sun. The price seemed appropriate so we hired him and gave a 50% deposit immediately. After sending 3 emails asking for a date, we were finally given a "week" for installation, about 6 weeks after making our deposit. A work crew showed up without Rob or an installation plan. They didn't know how to proceed and were asking us for instructions. ( we thought we paid for their professional design) We were extremely disappointed in the execution of the project. We asked the crew if Rob could come out and give them the plan. Rob was not available, so the crew proceeded to plant the shrubs, with direction from me. It turns out there was no landscape plan, When they were done, the new island was very sparse with very few planting for the size of the project. We were not impressed with the actual execution of the project. We had to invest in over a dozen more plantings to make it work. We know this company is capable of better work, however we believe they are just over booked and spread too thin. All of our concerns could have been handled if Rob would have made himself available at the time of installation, or if the crew had a landscaping plan to follow. Unfortunately Rob was never available to met us personally after the installation. They did come back unannounced while we were out of town, and attempted at add more mulch. Again we believe this could be a very good company, with much knowledge of local plants and landscaping, we have to believe they are going through some growing pains.

Rob at Coastal Shores was recommended to us by a local business owner. He responded very quickly through email, my preference. Today we had our consultation, we are very excited to use this company. Rob was extremely knowledgeable and was able to make recommendations and create a plan that I was not able to do on my own. Looking forward to follow up on this company! Cost is n/a and awaiting on the proposal!
