The Fence Man

Javier and his team used post hole diggers for this relatively small project. They started in the morning, even as our moving van arrived to deliver our household goods. Lots of activity! The fence was installed, with two personnel gates, in just a few hours. Our dogs had a fine, safe yard to enjoy at our new home. The fence is very sturdy. We are pleased and would use The Fence Man again.

OK... This Company will drive you crazy just to get an estimate. To be fair....I worked for 8 weeks and sent at least 5 emails just to be able to give this company the BENEFIT OF A DOUBT coming off another F rating shown on Angies list from 2012-whic h they said was unfair and false. I needed 400' of split rail fence replaced and I contacted them in mid February. About a week later the Fence Man(Javier) and his wife(Natalie who has a day job at a Nuclear Facility as Scientist) showed up. Javier can speak excellent English but his wife Natalie, for whatever reason, wants to do all the question asking and such while Javier just stands there-even though he speaks English and will be the guy installing your fence. No big deal with that. So...On we go....The original fence was cemented in the ground by B*yd fence and lasted 14 years. Natalie responded about 10 days later they could do it and I wanted to use Black Locust wood( the other posts are not rot resistant) so I got a quote for the posts from a Company in PA to ship down 60 posts (1.5 tons) for $1200 which Natalie had no problem with using as they last 40 years. The problem came when I said they had to be cemented as our soil is VERY ACIDIC and is sandy so that's how the other fence lasted 14 years-with CONCRETE anchoring. Well Natalie, after two weeks, responds and says. "Javier won't use Concrete" I responded immediately that was what was needed per the type of fence and the shortness of the posts. This back and forth went on for a month while the original installer came out and said..No Problem...but we need to use CONCRETE. Got the estimate from him and Lowes and emailed Natalie back saying please provide and estimate with concrete as two other companies have and I "do not want to give you a F rating" on Angies list. Last night....Nine days after sending this email. .this is the VERBATIM SARCASTIC REPLY Natalie sent.....This is a "CUT PASTE" Greg....You have an interesting way of soliciting cooperation.I hope your fencing has been installed to your liking...Natalie So this is the delays, sarcasm and lack of service you will get from the FENCE MAN. NATALIE....if you feel you have been falsely maligned I INVITE your response as I have all the dates of our conversations. Please do your day job and LET JAVIER(THE FENCE MAN) do his! AGAIN I SAY...AVOID THIS COMPANY AS THERE ARE MANY OTHERS ON ANGIES LIST THAT WILL TREAT YOU IN A TIMELY MANNER AND WITH RESPECT.

Disappointing. Very unprofessional to set up an appointment and then not show up or call.

He's very professional. When he says he's going to follow-up on something he does, even if it's on the weekend. The team works together as a team, everyone's assigned a job and they do it very effectively and efficiently. And the price is right. I'd recommend him to anybody.
