He's not licensed to build, that's his problem. He didn't even give us a certificate of occupancy. It was supposed to be a turn key deal and he just dropped the ball and walked away. We purchased some land and we wanted to board 4 horses. We wanted to build a 6 box barn with a 2 room appointment above it, and that's where we live. The land was cleared and ready for the home. We looked on the internet for someone that could build this type of structure and we spoke to a couple different people. We went out to Akin's and he even showed a couple of different homes that he said that he built. Everything looked great so we said great. We told him what our budget was and he agreed to it. So, we think what happened, was that he was 2 hours away and his crew was unwilling to travel 4 hours a day to work on it. Instead of telling us that his crew was unwilling to travel or that it was going to cost more because of the distance, just one man and his son came out and did most of the work. In short, me and my husband could have done the job and probably produced better work. At the end, before the kitchen was finished and even before the walls were in place he just stopped showing up. He wouldn't answer his phone or return emails. After a month and several emails, we sent one more email and he didn't respond to that so we called an attorney. We found out that he was not licensed in this county and that he fraudulently obtained the building permit from the planning and zoning. We are having problems with pretty much everything out here now. It was a great price if everything had been done properly.
