WESTERLY SANITATION

We have known for about a year that we would be needing a new septic system and contacted Westerly Sanitation and another provider with good reviews here on AL. Westerly proposed we keep our old leach field in place because we had a lot of room to locate a new field (very flat 2 acre lot) and also keep our original concrete septic tank. The other provider recommended, in addition to creating a new leach field, that we replace our septic tank, suggesting that keeping the tank we have was not code and we should expect problems if we don't replace it ( I called DEM and asked about the tank and was told that a concrete tank should last "forever" and that we were not required by code to replace our existing tank.). The other provider also required us to have an engineer come out (at our expense) to design the new leach field. Tom at Westerly Sanitation, a Class I licensed designer, was able to design our system without the added expense of hiring an engineer. Tom gave us an excellent price and his septic design was approved by DEM within 2 weeks. We checked the references that Tom gave us (previous clients) and got great reviews from them. Tom scheduled the job quickly because our system was on the verge of failure. He showed up with his pleasant, hard-working crew early on Day 1 and worked all day and returned early the next day and finished up. On Day 3 he brought in loam and carefully spread it out and applied grass seed. The crew was very mindful of my garden plants and surrounding trees and let me know in advance which plantings might be affected so I had time to move a few perennials and a little rose bush. They did not damage any plants or trees. We paid him 50% of the bill on Day 1 and the rest upon completion of the work on Day 3. Really quite painless! If you need work on a failing system, I strongly recommend you get quotes from a few contractors and that Westerly Sanitation be one of them. I think you'll see that they have the best price. One other thing that's unrelated to Westerly Sanitation's work: We didn't really give a lot of thought to what having to seed the lawn would involve. When our 2 dogs were let out in the yard and headed right for the loam area, we realized that we had a problem - if we didn't install a fence around the 2200 square feet of yard until the grass became established, we would be dealing with dirty/muddy paws for most of the summer! Today we decided to install sod and got the best price for sod and installation from Kingston Turf Farms. Stay posted for reviews on how that went!

The owner, Tom, responded to my phone call and visited my home the same day. He got back to me with an estimate two days later. The estimate was a fair price. Tom told me he could do the job in a couple of weeks. I accepted his quote and in just over two weeks the equipment arrived and they started the Job. Their work was done very professionally and in a timely manor. They were very knowledgable. I was very satisfied with the work performed and I highly recommend them.
