I called several jewelers to find out the cost of having an appraisal of my ring done. Every place I contacted was at least $100 or more, and you needed to have an appointment. In addition, they would have to keep the ring for a few days. I called Place Jewelers and spoke with the Owner/ Gemologist. He said I did not need an appointment, and the cost would be $50. He would not need to keep the ring, and the report would be ready that day or the next day at the latest depending on what time I came in. When I was able to make it in he was very knowledgeable and courteous. I did not have my GIA certificate with me, and he advised me to locate it. He explained that the certificate makes the diamond more valuable. Fortunately, I was able to find certificate so I brought it in the next morning. He amended the report to include the updated info and the report was completed that afternoon. The process took about 24 hours total. I was quite pleased with the actual report as it was very thorough, and satisfied all of my insurance needs. As an Angie's List member the appraisal only cost $25.00. It's pretty standard practice for jewelers to tell you a piece needs repairs etc., in an effort to up sell customers. They know most people will not risk losing a valuable/sentimental item due to a loose prong or whatever. This was not the case at all at Place Jewelers. I felt he was a straight shooter very honest. I was surprised at how busy it was each time I was in there. The owner and the employees were very respectful to every person that came in, and it was really quite refreshing to see. Don't waste time and money at other places. It's just not worth it, when this little neighborhood "gem" can do the same for less.

He was very nice and kind. He told me that at this time he would not have them fixed and would not do anything with them right now. I appreciated his feedback.

I was recommended this place so I figured I would get my wedding bands here. My first visit I viewed some bands and asked about pricing and decided the prices were good and would go back with my fiance to pick some out. When we went back, the prices we were quoted were double what I was originally told. So we decided that we would only buy one band because of the price. We had ordered a band and we were told that it would arrive in a week and we would receive a call. After a week and a half went by with no phone call, I decided to call them. The woman on the phone was rude and thought it was silly that I was even asking about when to expect my ring in the first place. When the ring did come in and I went to pick it up, I hated it. It wasn't what we had originally talked about. The owner working behind the counter was disrespectful about how I felt about the ring and all he cared about was that I needed to pay for it, regardless of how I felt about it. The band was a 14k white gold band that was cut to fit my engagement ring. This was all. There were no other elaborate decorations or additions. After going back and forth with him and almost at tears, I agreed to pay just to leave on good terms. The owner even had the nerve to try and sell me other services while he was ringing me up. Then, to top this bad experience off, I realized after I left that the owner over charged me! Shame on me. At this point I was furious and so upset because this was supposed to be exciting and fun. This experience brought me to tears and I had to buy a different band from somewhere else. I will do everything I can to not go back to this jeweler for anything.

They changed the battery of my watches and I got exchanged some of my silver and I bought some antiques. They are reliable and honest.
