Was told after the job started that it was going to increase by 80%. End result was mediocre - bare minimum. No one on site to supervise the workers who put more effort into their cigarette smoking than the job at hand.

Joe and his group were so great to work with from start to finish. He was quick to come out and provide his estimates for my scope of work and came in fair priced compared to others I was looking at. His team was efficient and communicated throughout the day to make sure I was happy with the work and they did a fantastic job!

Paid $8k for a patio. They didn’t level it correctly and I’ve been dealing with water coming up to the house as a result. The poly sand they used wasn’t installed correctly. It’s now bubbling up and coming off. Joe blew me off for weeks to start the project. Then when I told him of the problems he never fixed it.

I recently had the pleasure of working with Joe Shaw from Nature Redesigned, who hydroseeded my backyard. Joe and his team were incredibly efficient and professional throughout the entire process. After the initial hydroseeding, we experienced a heavy rain, and I was concerned that all the seeds might have washed away. Joe promptly came over, inspected the land, and re-hydroseeded the affected area without any hesitation. His support and friendly personality made the whole experience smooth and stress-free. Being new to Rhode Island as permanent residents, we often have to rely on referrals or online research to find companies to do a variety of jobs around our home. Living in a condo community, we approached the HOA about replacing a tree that had split apart in our front yard due to high winds. HOA boards often have specific requirements and when we met with Joe Shaw, he was excellent at accommodating our request and working with us to find the right tree, given the soil and amount of daily sunlight were problematic. As scheduled, the tree was installed and we are extremely satisfied with the installation and the tree choice. Joe is very easy to work with and quite knowledgeable. I worked with Joe Shaw to coordinate what I was looking for. The whole Nature Redsign was professional, Matt ran the job and did a thorough job making sure I was happy with everything. There was no guess work, and the finish product came out great. I was very pleased and will use them again in the future.

Very hard to find contractors these days who follow through. This crew was reliable and professional. They stayed on the job until it was complete. We now have a beautiful patio and artificial turf area at our little neighborhood bar. Will use them again!

Very precise work was required to take trees down where they were located. They did an amazing job and then planted arborvitae in their place. Cleared away milkweed and other weeds and made 2 new beds with new grass and tree. Team was very professional and courteous-and double checked with me that tasks were performed to my satisfaction.

*Before you hire Nature Redesigned read this review* Have you ever hired a contractor and on day two of the project you realized that you have made a terrible mistake? Well, that’s what happened to me. Stress, loss of sleep, panic… This is the story of my experience with “Joe Nature” and Nature Re-Designed. Joe is a great salesman and a terrible business owner. Joe will sell you on false promises and false quotes. Once you sign on the dotted line you will not see him until he is ready to collect your payment and the bill will be 30% more than what you expect. Joe does not come to the site even once during your project and he does not check in on his crew or manage whatsoever. He is too busy selling people on a dream and delivering a nightmare. I hired Joe for a large-scale property renovation including the construction of a lake front retaining wall. When I was interviewing landscapers, Joe showed up with a big smile and an abundance of confidence. His quote was reasonable, and I fell for it “hook-line and sinker”. I shared inspiration pictures with Joe (See attached image) and he assured me that we were on the same page. Well three days into the project the look of my new lake front retaining wall was simply HORRIFYING. I lost nights of sleep, I felt stressed and panicked. I confronted Joe and re-send him the picture that we agreed upon... His response... “If I used the materials that you sent me this wall would cost a fortune. You live on a lake in Smithfield not a house on the ocean in Narragansett”. EXCUESE ME??? THAT’S WHAT YOU SOLD ME ON??? Ok… ok… So now you have an idea of the quality of Joe’s work. Now let’s talk about his crew and his negligent lack of management. Day one of your project a crew of young chain-smoking guys will show up to your house. They will have no direction from joe and they will be relying on you to either tell them what to do, or tell them what they have done wrong the next day when they return. They will spend the first hour and a half of their “workday” standing in a circle chatting and laughing while their machines warm up. Once they get into their machines, they will work for about one hour, then they will smoke cigarettes and joke around for another hour… this pattern will continue throughout your project ALL DAY EVERY DAY. They are not being managed by Joe at all and there is not accountability so you can't really blame them! Well, the only problem is that you are paying their daily rate and when your project goes over by days or weeks your bill will be 30% over what you expected. In conclusion: When I expressed all the concerns above to Joe he agreed that all of my points were in fact valid then proceeded to hit me with a $42,000 bill which was 30% over his original quote, because that project “took longer than expected”. Joe claimed that he already somehow cut me a break on pricing and demanded payment in full. After writing him the check I asked Joe to please leave my property and as Joe was leaving, I noticed him taking landscaping materials from my yard that I had already paid for! I said, "Joe I paid for that" and he dropped the product and continued to walk to his truck. During the initial consultation I met the sheep and now I realized that I was dealing with a wolf. I paid Joe his money and now I am left with a dilapidated wall, a destroyed lawn, a busted-up sprinkler system, and large boulders left behind. TIME FOR A LAWYER? Please don’t fall for the con like I did! He should call himself Joe Exotic not Joe Nature!

They did an arch and they had to repeat it because they didn't cement it and the wind blew it off. They cemented it after the wind blew it off, since They didn't measure the arch properly. It was a little bit lopsided. They did crush stone and mulch around two trees in the driveway and the front of the house and those were fine. They also did some pavers from the porch to the arch which was also fine. The lawn was poorly done, because there were some patches that had to be filled in. They said it would improve but it didn't improve. When I had to call him, I was getting no response. Finally he sent his crew but he didn't come back himself and they did a very poor job. After I complained about this to him, He just told me that it was an inconvenience for him to come back. There was a problem of the watering system that he had put in. It was suppose to water for 10mins for twice a day but what I got was it only waters once a day for my 4 different sections of my lawn.

From our initial out reach to Joe through to the final completion of our patio restoration, we could not have been more impressed. The professionalism, attention to detail, and total commitment to ensure a perfect job was so impressive. We could not be more satisfied. An awesome team, an awesome outcome.

Had large patio project a year and a half ago. Unprofessional service leaving waste in yard. Paid large sum for a patio that has settled 3 inches on one corner within 6 months. Horrible job on flagstone walkway that is loose and wobbling as well as unlevel or straight. Tried to contact to resolve the issues and was treated poorly. Highly unrecommend for work. This was overprized poor job. When redone found that patio would continue to sink due too poor materials and workmanship.

Joe and his team are excellent! They have done fall cleanups for us for the past 2 years and they really do a great job. As a newer homeowner, finding a company for landscaping and other services can be intimidating, but Joe makes the process stress-free. This year he's helping give our property a facelift and he couldn't have made it easier to work out the planning. He gave us several options with respect to our budget. His estimates are honest, his crew is professional and respectful, and I trust that the work they do will always be top notch.

Joe is super pleasant to work with and his team did a great job cleaning up my yard to get ready for the season! I've used different companies in the past for yard clean-up but the team at Nature Redesigned were by far the most thorough and neat. 10/10, would recommend to anyone!

Joe Shaw was the most responsive of several landscapers that I contacted. We were trying to get quotes to have our front yard redesigned after having a front porch and master suite added to our home. Joe's quote was comparable to others but his prompt responses and friendly manner are what prompted us to choose Nature Redesigned for our project. We made the right choice. We are more than pleased with the outcome and have faith that Joe stands by his work and his word. He is a man of integrity. Nature Redesign tackled my stone paver walkways (one in front and then in my backyard), stone paver patio and stone paver air conditioning pad. This project was not an easy one. They had to dig up my old broken and cracked concrete patio and ac pad without the use of machinery (old fashion hard labor) move the stones that make up my entire backyard (what we call a Arizona yard-no grass) to lay the stone pavers for the walkway and remove the concrete from the front walkway (again all hard labor). They did not shy away from this job where others did. Joe promised to get my old concrete ac pad removed and install the new one prior to the installation of my new ac unit. He kept his promise and completed all of the jobs within a week. My backyard now looks park like. I would definitely hire Joe/Nature Redesign for my hardscape/landscape projects and recommend him too.

Joe & team was great to work with! I was a little nervous about what plants/design he would choose and was pleasantly surprised when I saw it all pulled together! He was easy to reach, quick to respond and came by after a few weeks to make sure everything was looking good!

Nature Redesigned Landscaping is one of the most professional businesses I have encountered while living in Rhode Island. Joe, the owner, came out to discuss my patio project, asked my time frame, and had an estimate within a few short days. The foreman then came to confirm the project. The crew showed every day as they said they would, until the project was completed. They worked long days, sometimes in 18 degree weather. They were respectful of my property and when they had finished and removed the trucks and equipment, they prepared the grass with sod for the spring, leaving my property clean and neat. I can't say enough about Joe and his team. They showed great attention to detail and pride in their work which showed in the finished patio. My neighbors walking by are impressed! They are a five star business times 10! I am not leaving a cost because it was very specific to the details of my request and size of my project. I did compare price to a similar project of a family member and it was comparable.
